Isaac acted like he hadn’t heard a single word the kid had said, he had more important things to pay attention to.
The fact that a opaque barrier had shot out from his chest during the awakening still baffles him, there was only one object that could spit out that barrier and that was the dragon necklace that his mum put around his neck before he was taken away.
No matter how much he looked at it before it looked like an ordinary necklace and not some extraordinary item.
He couldn’t even bring it out right now to look at it because of the other kids in the room.
He had to wait till it was dark before doing that.
Right as he was lost in his thought, he heard the door open again and another group of four came into the room which snapped him back to reality.
They were four young boys who looked like they are from an influential family because of how they were dressed.
They were all wearing a cloak of the same color and they had a brooch that held the cloak together which was in the shape of Capital letter B.
At this moment the other three from earlier were playing rock, paper, scissors to determine who gets the single bed.
The four that were together walked in like they owned the place and started walking forward, the other three were scared by their momentum and aura that they had to give way for them.
The kid with blond hair went straight to the single bed and sat down.
While the other three went to the bunk beds that were closer to the single bed.
They then used the empty bed on the bunk as a place to keep their things.
The three from earlier were looking at them with their mouths wide open.
What audacity, seeing this, the three silently went to the beds that were empty and sat down.
They had already been strictly warned not to use an empty bed even if the room was without the limit of nine students in the dorm, because a new kid might be admitted later on.
So in other to not cause confusion they were asked to not even touch the empty beds.
One of three kids from earlier went to where Isaac was and shared the bunk bed with him.
The three knew their place and decided to not start a disagreement with the other four.
First of all they had more people, even though that didn’t determine everything when it came down to putting up a fight, but the fact that they were all dressed in the same attire meant that there was a power force behind them.
They didn’t want to act foolishly and antagonize people they shouldn’t.
The three just met at another displaced persons camp and they became friends, they do not have any sort of backing behind them.
“Why didn’t they get a separate apartment for us?” said one of the kids on the bunk beds from the group of four.
He looked smallish and his eyes were darting about the whole room, he looked like the scheming type.
“We have to be in the elite class to qualify for that kind of special treatment, for now we have to share a room with this bunch of riff raffs” the kid with his head tied into a bun amongst them said with a sneer.
“Of all the schools they could have chosen for us, they had to choose this kind of mediocre one to put us in, how unfortunate” said the kid whose hair was flowing behind his back amongst the four.
“Well if it hadn’t been for someone here, we wouldn’t be suffering this injustice” said the kid with his hair in a bun.
He then turned and looked at the handsome kid that was seating all alone on the single bed with closed eyes, he was clearly holding a grudge against him for making him come to this school.
The others immediately kept shut, the kid with a bun might complain about the handsome kid to his face but they didn’t have the right to do so.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
“Hello there brothers, nice to meet you, it looks like we are going to be staying in the same dorm from now on, please take care of us” the burly kid from the group of three said with a smile plastered on his average looking face.
“My name is Charlie, this is John” the burly looking kid pointed to the lanky looking kid standing beside him.
“And this is Walter” he then pointed to the chubby looking kid and introduced.
“Who the hell are you calling brothers, do we look like we are of the same social standing as displaced idiots like yourself?” asked the kid with his hair flowing behind him.
“What gave you the right to think that you can speak with us like equals, even having the audacity to call us brothers, are you tired of living?” the kid continued to admonish Charlie harshly.
Charlie’s face was red with embarrassment at the moment, he just wanted to befriend them so that they could take care of them, but it turns out that his carefully thought out words were not eloquent enough.
And to be shouted at this harshly in front of the group that he was the unnamed leader of left a terrible taste in his mouth.
“Erm, sorry don’t get Charlie wrong here, he just wanted to warmly welcome you to the dorm, since we hadn’t seen you during the welcoming ceremony he wanted to fill you up on what happened earlier, he didn’t mean any disrespect” said John in an apologetic tone.
“Mtsww, there is no need for that, keep it to yourselves” the kid with flowing hair said with a sneer.
“There is no need to be so harsh with them, they don’t know any better Sami” said the kid with shifty eyes.
“Let me do the introduction” the kid with shifty eyes said with a warm smile on his face.
“This is Sami” he pointed towards the kid with flowing hair.
“And this is Rex, and that would be Leopold” he then pointed to the kid with a bun and the blond kid respectively.
“and my name is Morgan, we will be living together from now on in the same dorm” he continued in a mild tone.
“I hope you can do all within your power to take care of us” Morgan said with a warm smile on his face.
“No problem, no problem, it would be our honor, we also hope that you would take care of us” said John with a smile on his lips.
He was happy that they didn’t take offense, though Charlie might act like the leader, he was the smooth talker in the group when things go sideways, he had gotten them out of trouble a number of times already.
The other three were looking at Morgan skeptically, they knew how he really was, so they were surprised that he was talking with these kids that they didn’t put in their eyes with a smile at the moment.
They then saw the warm smile plastered on his face turn cold all of a sudden.
“Did you idiots think that I mean taking care of us figuratively? How stupid could you be? I literally mean that during our stay in this trashy place you are going to take care of our daily needs and attend to us”
“Are you mad? You even have the audacity to ask us to look after you! You must be out of your minds” Morgan said in a cold and ruthless tone.
Isaac whose eyes were closed shut open immediately, he was surprised at the turn of events, how could he switch from an amicable person into a despicable one within the blink of an eye.
Isaac immediately noted him down as a person to be careful about.
Even though Sami and the rest did not give him a good first impression, these four were obviously going too far, so he had to speak up and shut this kids with inflated ego down.
As soon as he opened his mouth, he heard “Well, well, well, what would I see? if it isn’t the Bulwarks potential recruit being all high and mighty” they all simultaneously turned around to where the sound originated from.
At the door to the room, they saw the most handsome kid amongst all the kids in the room standing there, he had short brown hair and dark blue eyes, he was just tall enough for his age, he looked confident as he stood at the door.
He looks like a kid that would attract all attention as soon as he walks into a room, as if that was his birth right in the first place, to be the center of attention no matter where he was.
The four kids immediately tensed up, and the other kids including Isaac all opened their eyes wide.
Bulwarks, that was a force that commanded respect, no wonder these four kids didn’t put them in their eyes at all.
They are not just from any influential force, they are from a very big influential organization in the whole country.
And to be a potential recruit of the Bulwarks, it seems like their lives were set already.
The Bulwarks were part of the military that were in charge of the defense of each and every city within the safe zone.
Isaac was also reminded of a memory, the Bulwarks regiment were the ones that started to evacuate the citizens from Moonhaven during the disaster.
Even though the disaster was a surprise to them, they still got a lot of people out of the city.
And they stood back to fight with the monsters that had invaded.
If not for them the number of casualties would have more than quadrupled, so he was both grateful and resentful of them, because mages that have reached a certain level were asked to stay back and fight with the monsters which included his parents.
He doesn’t know where the other civilians from his city were because he was knocked out and then separated from them.
He has no idea whether they had made it out of Moonhaven safely to a displaced center.
He has not heard a single word about Moonhaven since from the time he left, everything has been kept under wraps, no matter how much he disturbed the manager of their center to ask around, he would just shun him.
Which added to his worries, it seems like everything about Moonhaven was confidentially sealed up from the public.
That was why he thought that he was the only survivor of Moonhaven.
So now hearing the words Bulwark, he didn’t know whether to be grateful or angry for separating him from his parents.
“Who are you?!” for the first time since arriving, Leopold opened his mouth and talked, he was sporting a serious expression at this moment.
All the other kids in the dorm could not identify which background they had.
But this kid with one glance could tell, that said plenty about him already, so they had to handle this situation carefully or they would be in serious trouble.
