I had made my way to a seat near the wall, an old hand-built chair. I sat it in, a little scared it would break under me sitting on it, but after only a few complaints from the chair I rested comfortably. This place, though very small, was fashioned in an old japanese style home. The main part of the house was taken over by the large machinery and forge workshop.
“So, what type of weapon would best fit your skills?” The donkey man asked me from the other room, drawing me back to myself.
“Oh, well I don't know the answer to that. I really have not been in too many fights.” I admitted.
“Any talisman powers?” He asked again.
“No, none of those.” I admitted again.
Taking Para off my shoulder and setting her down on the little table stand. The room I was in was rather comfortable. Small lantern-like light lit up the room, it had a weird crystal in it which was making the light.
“Okay, let me ask, do you prefer fighting up front or from a range?” He asked again.
“I don't think either matter. I think I can do both. So something medium ranged I guess, which can be light and flexible?” I asked.
“How much did you earn on your first job?” He asked, like he knew I had only done one so far.
Admittedly, I had no idea how much I had. I looked at the currency more, but no memories were coming to tell me what it was. It was a square like coins, a hole in the center with a rim decorated and words imprinted in them. They seemed to be of a golden color.
“Those are Hectotain. Mmmm do you know like a One dollar?” Para asked me.
For some reason the dollar did ring a bell, I wasn't sure what it was, but it brought a feeling of familiarity.
“Yes, I think?” I said to her.
“Okay, well 1 Hectotain is like 100 dollars. That bag probably has around 60 of them, so about 600 dollars.” She explained.
“Okay. I have about 60 Hectotain. What can I get for that? “ I asked.
“Give me a while, I think I can make do for that. Must've been a nice job to earn that much off your first.” He mumbled as I could start hearing loud shuffling from the other room.
“Hey, Para, what's the story about the city? I mean surely you hold a good bit of knowledge on it.’ I asked her.
“Oh, well, it was accidental I think. I only know the rumors. I heard rumors that I started from a planet that was going to be sucked into the abyss, but self destructed and what remained that wasn't started floating around it. Eventually more parts and pieces of otherworlds, that were consumed by the abyss, made their way here.” Para said.

“So you're saying this place is made up of a lot of other places?” I asked.
“Yep! It is what the underdark is. The under dark is some connection that bypasses the barrier into the abyss. I am not sure how it works, but each adventure into the underdark has connections to planets or places which have been consumed from the abyss. In these places they are unstable and very much not safe. Creatures from the abyss will try to seek you out, as well as mutated creatures from those places could still be around.” Para explained more.
“Okay, are they predictable? Like if I wanted to go there how would I be able to?” I asked.
“Oh well outside of the city, is where that is at. It's very pretty looking. Different guilds hold different sections of that place, like they do the city. You see it's not just their territory, but whatever section of the city the alliance owns, they are responsible for as well.” She noted.
“Okay, well maybe I will take a look at that underdark place next time.” I said, finishing the discussion on it.
Not much after we had ended our discussion the old donkey guy came back holding what looked to be a well built spear. The handle had some markings on it and power flowing through it. The tip of the spear seemed like a normal blade in most regards. What caught my eye was the weird tech pattern glowing out of the where the blade and spear met. Like a glowing hologram rotating around the head of the spear, it was a light azure color.
“Here.” The man huffed and tossed it at me.
“Agh!” I explained a little surprise, as out of reflex I grabbed the handle and was able to catch the spear.
The spear hummed in my hand like a resonating power in it. I held it in my hands looking it over and examining it over. It felt nice. I stood up to have some more room, and moved it around me. It had some flexibility, but it did not sway or bend too much.
“It feels great. Is there a place I can practice with it?” I asked.
“No. Survive till you have more money then come and see me again. That spear will be 55 Hectotain.” He said with no remorse and held a hand out.
I grumbled about a rip off, and counted out the money to the man. After paying him off for the weapon, he then told me that near the top there is a small ring in which if I rotate it, the spear will turn into a bracelet. Following his instructions I ended up with that glowing tech band around my wrist and the spear was gone.
I thanked the old man, scooped up Para, and headed outside of the building. I didn't have much money left, but maybe at this rate, I can do a light job, and earn some good money.
