After getting pulled into the alley, I couldn't see the man in the street. I felt a sense of relief, at the same time disappointed. I was very curious what that man was like. I really wanted to know how he cut everyone in half from such a distance. It was an amazing and horrifying power. I wasn't sure, but I felt a part of me really was curious to just understand how it works.
“Quit daydreaming, and get moving!” Leopard snapped at me.
I snapped back to what we were doing. I got my feet back under me, and stopped holding her hand. I followed her, as we had started running. We didn’t slow down, we were getting close to the delivery location. The sooner we get this delivered the sooner the giant target on our back is gone.
Following her, we ran through the streets, getting as far as we could without needing to slow down. I noticed we entered the green district. As we ran we started approaching a tall wooden building, with vegetation and plants growing on the sides of the building, with small gardens. I noticed a fair few taller bunny looking people seemed to be gathered here. Something that struct my attention was their muscle structure is no joke. Among the weaker I swore they could’ve lifted me easily with one hand.
We came to a stop in front of the giant wooden building. Seemed this was our delivery location. Leopard knocked before she entered, and I followed in behind her.
Looking around the inside of the building we were in, it was very open and wonderful looking. There were plants everywhere and everything was made of wood. On the ground floor, were throw rugs, chairs, tables, and several counters. One seemed to be the equivalent of our bar, but I noticed this place has no alcohol, bless Mona for having some. I know I will need a drink later.
I was pulled back from my day dreaming of drinking my night away, by seeing someone who seemed to be trying to wave us over. I watched as the leopard lady went over to her who seemed to be behind some sort of help desk. It seemed to be a taller bunny woman. I followed the leopard over to her.
“Are you here for the delivery to our captain?” The bunny asked us.
“Yes, we are. We would like to finish our delivery.” Leopard confirmed.
“Right this way then.” She gestured behind her, opening the door for us.
Following both of them, we entered a backroom which inside was a wonderfully bright room. This room had a mostly glass ceiling, allowing what remains of the light from outside to spill in, coating the room in a nice warm glow. Plants were growing in the room. It was very cozy and soft here.
Leopard pushed me forward, I stumbled forward a little bit before walking over to the desk. Behind the desk was a large tiger looking man. He was sitting there looking at me patiently. I set the cage down on the desk.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“I believe this is yours sir. I have done my best to keep it safe.” I said, worried since I had never checked what's underneath the cloth.
The tiger man pulled it toward him and looked it over, before pulling the cloth off the cage, underneath was a tiny albino wild bunny inside a small cage. It looked around at everyone in the room before looking at the tiger man. The tiger man opened the door to the cage, and reached in and grabbed the bunny, pulled it out and held it in his hands looking it over. I could feel the tension in the air build as he looked the bunny over.
Then the tiger man smiled and petted the little bunny and laughed.
“You did wonderful! My precious little bunny!” He said, chuckling and a huge grin on his face.
I finally relaxed, I wasn't sure if I wanted to cry from relief or that I was almost killed several times over a tiny bunny. I felt a chuckle rise up and I started laughing. This was ridiculous.
‘Is this the world that I exist in? Some place where murder is the solution over a bunny?” I was laughing and felt tears in my eyes as well. I didn’t know if I was crying or laughing. I kept laughing till the tiger man put his hand on my shoulder then he looked down at me, still holding the bunny in the other hand.
“You did great! Thank you. I was expecting a ransom from Ares and it actually did not get delivered!” He chuckled, patting my shoulder.
“I don't know what to say. They did try really hard.” I told him.
“Well it seems that old mut found a gem in the rough! You did very well! I will put in a notice to give you a bonus. Must've been a hell of a day for you fresh meat.” He said, going back to his desk.
“I don’t understand.” I admitted.
“Well, Red tests people he might think will be useful by sending them on very harsh missions. He expected you to make it through, or her wouldn't have sent her.” He said, pointing behind me at leopard.
“I know this was a test, but this isn't even the worst thing?” I asked, the concern setting in me.
“You don't know how some of the guild leaders are greedy for everything. They want it all. Anything that might seem important to others, even if it doesn't to them. Just that others find it important means they want it now.” He said, with a large sigh.
“So, Are’s guild wants control over everything then?” I asked.
“Yes, they are considered the strongest and the most wealthy. Except for The City itself. Which is why they want to try to control The City. If they get control then their guild master will be one step closer to having everything.
