The Lord

As I kept flying, adrenaline was still rushing through my body, keeping me alert. Which was tiring after it stopped. For a moment it looked like I had fallen asleep.

“Wynne! Wake up!” Grandfather said, right into my ear.

“I am awake, how else do you think I am still flying?” I asked, very annoyed.

“Do not use that tone with me!” Grandfather said.

“Oh please, you have said much worse things to me on this journey than I have to you. Let it go” I growled.

“Fine,” Grandfather muttered.

I kept flying as I usually did. Nothing much was going on. I did not want anything else to happen. After the lake thing, I was in no shape to fight again. Luckily, it did not look like I had to. The island that I was flying over, was red hot. It looked like liquid fire was everywhere, and wherever I could even possibly land was barren, small and black. When I approached the center. It looked like one cliff, but the liquid fire and black land was still there. Then, one of the worst possible things that could have happened, happened. A massive figure rose out of the center of the cliff, that had skin that was liquid lava. Their clothes were nice, their hair was on fire, their eyes were pitch black and only the top half of them appeared.

“Ah! I see! Visitors!” The giant thing boomed.

“Oh no, we are definitely in no way ready to talk to Thirelia, Goddess of fire, lava, death and anger.” Grandfather said.

I started shaking violently. This goddess was scary enough, of course grandfather had to add what they were the goddess of. Which made them even scarier.

“Yes, it is me, and you poor souls looked very tired. Usually I would bother you, if you had no noble cause for flying of course.” Thirelia said, with a chuckle.

“I do have a noble cause for flying. I am looking to save my mother!” I said.

“Why do you need to save your mother?” Thirelia asked, looking at me, I thought it was to tell whether or not I was lying.

“I need to save my mother because I already left the island, and if I go back without them, I will be in trouble. I also want my grandfather's spirit to rest. My mother was a not very nice person, then they got corrupted, then they got punished, so I am trying to save them.” I said, knowing that none of that was a lie.

“Well, to me it does not look like you are lying. But I have to ask my cousin. Hey Nahiea! Was that a lie?” Thirelia asked.

“No!” A voice that I assumed was Nahiea responded.

“Ok! Well then, for not lying, and still having a noble cause, I give you this gift.” Thirelia said, and they handed out a ring. It glimmered, and it was blue and white, with a pale blue crystal in the middle.

“My friend Drizlene, goddess of spirits, and the afterlife, gave me this. They said that this ring will help you control spirits, and be able to have a second consciousness in the afterlife. I have no use for it, and no flyers have been around since I got it, so I give you this gift” Thirelia said.

I took the blue ring gently, and placed it around my finger. I levitated without the cloak's help a bit. Grandfather's spirit glow became brighter.

“Nothing much changed?” I said I was confused.

“Well, you only can use it, when you need it or you have a spirit with you.” Thirelia said.

“Thank you very much! I will give you an offering once I land somewhere safe” I said.

“I will hold you on that, but your welcome, now be off on your way” Thirelia said.

So I flew around them, and away from the island with the ring on my hand. The conversation took some time, so I decided that the next island I saw would be the island that I landed on. I felt like I had bad luck with the islands I needed to land on, because this one was cold even from the air, and I was not dressed properly for that.

“Oh! Perfect! You are very lucky Wynne. These creatures worship humans, and since these ones do not look like they have a king or a queen, they will worship you! They will do whatever you want, just land.” Grandfather said.

“Oh! That's great!” I said.

I landed, and the first thing that I saw stood there shocked long enough for me to catch the details. It was a four legged creature that was massive. It had fur all over it, only places that did not have fur were the bottom of its paws, its eyes and inside of its mouth.

“Hello great lord! Please let me escort you to your palace!” The creature said.

“Well, alright” I said.

The big creature started taking me all the way to a big but frozen over palace. Along the way, more and more creatures showed up to follow us, and I opened the door to a place made almost entirely of gold. I walked up to the throne , sat down, and the big creature that brought me here got a crown, and placed it on my head.

“All hail!” The big creatures said in unison.

The big gold room had two staircases on either side of the throne. A crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling, and it was twice the size of one of the creatures. Stained glass windows on top of the door in pairs of three. A bright red carpet at my feet, and everything else, such as the door and walls was entirely made from gold.

“My lord, what is your name? My name is Tervu, and since I found you, I will be your personal butler.” Tervu said.

“My name is Wynne” I said, very happy that I was being worshiped.

“I see, Lady Wynne, what is your first command?” Tervu asked.

“I want a full course meal prepared and a cake sacrificed to the god Thirelia” I said, making sure that I would be able to eat, and I would have fulfilled my promise.

“As you wish” Tervu said, and the creatures started running everywhere, making sure that I got what I wanted.

I thought everything was great. Until I wanted to leave. I woke up in my chamber. Having a great sleep on the very soft mattress and the light quilts. I got changed, and was going to head off. Until…

“Your majesty! Where are you going?” Tervu asked.

“Oh! My stay has been short, I must go to continue my quest” I said, thinking that Tervu would just let me leave and understand.

“Oh no! You cannot leave! You are the throne! You rule us!” Tervu said, almost telling me.

“No, I need to leave” I said urgently, and tried to continue forward but Tervu stopped me.

“You must be confused! Go put on your dress, and crown, and we will continue from yesterday!” Tervu said, not letting me go.

“Tervu, I command you to let me go by!” I said, with a sharper tone.

“Your majesty-” Tervu said before I stopped them.

“Let me go by. Otherwise, I will have you executed.” I said angrily.

Tervu let me go by. But then, I saw all the creatures once again, blocking my path. Their shouts all together said “You will not leave! You must stay!” and I had no idea what to do.

“Wynne, jump over them,” Grandfather said.

“But I could fly?” I said, wondering why grandfather wanted me to do it the more difficult way.

“No, you need all of the cloak's energy for the trip, jump over them.” Grandfather said sharply.

I jumped onto one, which sent a panic across the room, so I used the panic to dodge around the creatures, and get to the door. The only creatures that were not panicked were the guards that were guarding the doors. They blocked the door with their huge spears.

“I, as your lord, command you to let me out.” I said, straightening myself and putting on a stern look.

“No, we cannot do that.” The guards said in unison.

So I resorted to plan number two. I ducked under the spears, and burst through the door. The guards reacted quickly, and got all the creatures after me. I ignored the cold, and booked it to the end of the island. Once I got there, I jumped, and started flying. I could hear the shrieks and screams of the creatures pleading for me to come back.

“No, that will not make your soul un-pure. They have had that happen before.” Grandfather said before I could think to ask.
