I flew forward and managed to miss it, but it was close, close enough for me to get really scared.
“Grandfather…” I muttered.
“Just fly, unless you want lighting to actually hit you.” Grandfather said, unfeelingly.
“Okay. A little sympathy would've been nice.” I whispered under my breath so that grandfather would not hear me.
I flew, dodging the lighting, every so often it would be close, but I urged on, and managed to get to a very large area. Which, I thought was good, until I saw a horrifying thing.
“Is that mother?” I asked, a bit panicked.
“No, that is a being that has been punished with no pity, avoid it, you can not kill celestial beings.” Grandfather said.
“But mother-” I said.
“No, this is not your mother, a being that can be saved rests in a temple. I know what your mother looks like” Grandfather said.
“Ok.” I said, I tried flying around, but the storm was still going, so I had to avoid lighting and the beast. It was difficult because the beast had five heads, and ten eyes. So avoiding its sight, was very difficult. I managed to do it, but it was quite scary.
“The storm should not go for much longer, the creature was stirring it up” Grandfather said, which made me feel a lot better.
Unfortunately for me, the creature turned around and spotted me. It made this horrid noise and started flying towards me.
“Grandfather?! What do I do?!” I screamed.
“Avoid it at all costs!” Grandfather yelled.
I dodged its first attack, and managed to fly far enough away it lost track of me for a bit, letting me catch my breath.
“Grandfather, how long do I have until I need to land?” I asked.
“You are able to fly for hours at a time, and weirdly enough, with every creature we encountered, we are able to fly longer. Also, the next island we can land on is close enough that you can lead the creature away and still be safe.” Grandfather said.
Stolen novel; please report.
The creature saw me, and I flew backwards so that I entered a cloud, but I could hear it coming quickly. I had no other choice except to keep flying and avoid it.
“Now would be a great time to try tricks.” Grandfather said.
“Ok, will that throw it off?” I asked.
“Yes” Grandfather said.
So I decided to fly up, the feeling of the wind brushing on my face, while I went up would have been great if I didn't have a terrifying monster chasing me. I closed my eyes, and pretended the monster was not there until I could not feel the clouds around me with my hands. I opened my eyes to see the monster in front of me. So, I shot up into the air, and when I got up high enough, I started spinning, and let the cloak drop me, for a second I saw the monster, and it looked confused. The cloak picked me back up, and I was once again facing the monster, but this time, it tried to copy what I did, and its already dismembered body with no arms and ten feet looked even more dismembered, with some of its feet looking like feet-hands. I tried so much to not laugh, but a small giggle let through, and the creature got very confused. But it had no mouths, so it could not laugh, but it tried. I decided to swoop around and it copied that perfectly, so I applauded it. It was very proud of itself, and tried to do another trick, but failed. So I twirled down and, flew in a big circle, using the clouds to leave a mark of my trail, and then spun down. Sort of landing and the creature clapped with its feet. The sensation felt amazing, and I completely forgot that the creature was trying to kill me a few minutes ago.
“Wynne. Focus” Grandfather said quietly.
“Right!” I whispered.
I quickly did another trick that made me fly farther away. The creature followed. I felt like it was a good idea, so I repeated it. But the creature got a bit mad, and thought I was tricking it, which I was. But it was not supposed to know that. So I decided to fly away, then spell my name in the clouds. Which the creature was amused with, then I flew farther, and wrote grandfathers name. The creature yet again was amused, but then it looked like it wanted me to write it’s name.
“I cannot, I do not know your name” I said softly.
The creature looked disappointed. So I quickly did a spiral to make sure it did not get mad.It quickly brightened up and tried it itself. As I came up with more things etching the creature farther from the island, I saw a black dot in the distance, which was Sorynns island. So I stopped. I thought about how I would get away from the creature.
“Pretend your doing a trick, then disappear. It is not close enough to any island to do damage, humans also have better sight than the celestial beings. It cannot see a dot. All it can do is make another storm.” Grandfather whispered.
“Got it” I muttered.
I shot up into the sky, and then when the monster expected me to come down, I stayed up, and hid in the clouds, I quickly was hidden, and then I heard a horrendous sound, which I assumed was its cry for being tricked, and I saw the clouds behind me quickly turning the dark grey they were before. I needed to get back to the island, but I could no longer see the island. Going to Sorryns island was not an option. I just had to hope that my cloak would not fail before I reached the island. I flew without worry, and started descending, I was very high up, so going down felt nice, after all, it was quite cold up there. So as I warmed up I saw the island and I was going to land, I got on just as my cloak lost all of its energy, but I slipped and fell. Not onto land.
