A learner and a teacher

A learner and a teacher

I jumped, and strangely enough, that made me want to speak. Over some time, I wanted to know more about how my mother was corrupted, why my mother was punished, all those details I did not know.

“Grandfather” I said, after not speaking for hours.

“Yes?” Grandfather asked, seeming to calm down after I finally spoke to them.

“I want to know more about the whole reason I am doing this.” I said flatly.

“Oh! Well, your mother was never very bright. Quite rude, not very helpful, and overall, was like a calling to get corrupted since the dark entities usually look for those who already have a bad mindset. But they never cared no matter how much I stressed that they needed to change. Sadly, your father fell in love with your mother, and after only a short amount of time of them being together, you were born. Then, you only ever remember your mother being a monster of a person because when you were one, they got corrupted. They started doing terrible unspeakable things. Your mother was horrible, and just to keep us safe, we put them on the other side of the island. But, that did not mean the wildlife was safe. So your mother started torturing the wild life. Until the god of punishment found them and punished them for their behavior.” Grandfather said.

“But it was not like mother could control their behavior!” I said, shocked that the god of punishments did that.

“You know, they are very unforgiving. Khubus never cared for mortals, and even if they could not control it, punished any terrible behavior.” Grandfather said with spite.

“Well, thank you for telling me.” I said.

“No problem, I was wondering when you were going to ask.” Grandfather said.

I flew for hours after that conversation, not speaking again. I did not need to, there was no use. But I let what grandfather said soak in. I thought that maybe after I saved my mother, I could make them a better person. What my current problem was, was that there was no islands in sight. Even though by now there should have been one by now.

“Um, where is the island that should have appeared right about now?” I asked, a bit worried.

“I do not know, but it is quite strange, I think you just have to keep flying.” Grandfather said.

“Alright” I said.

I kept flying, and flying, and flying. I was so bored, nothing to see, I could not do tricks because that would take more cloak energy. I felt that I needed all the energy I could get. Thankfully, I saw an island, just as the sun was getting lower in the sky, and I did not want to take my chances in running out of cloak energy and falling. I quickly landed, and was immediately overwhelmed with the sounds of all sorts of creatures.

“Ah, the last island we were at was beautiful with scenery, but this island is beautiful with its wildlife.” Grandfather said.

As I walked through the tropical wonderland, I thought that a place so beautiful could not go without being named, so I decided on the name Qorbiley Jungles. Which I thought was fitting. So I found a sharp rock and carved the name into one of the trees. I quickly found a small pool, very shallow, so I walked straight into the middle of it, and took it all in.

The grass was all types of green, and was growing to incredible heights. The trees stood ancient and tall, with a beautiful shaded beige bark. The leaves were massive and a sleek looking grey. There was an underbrush of all different kinds of plants and colors. It looked like a rainbow, and I was not complaining. I walked around some more, staying clear of very sharp things, and searching for another clearing. But soon, it became clear that the only reason there would be a clearing is because there was a shallow pool, that meant I had to camp in the treetops. It certainly would make a relaxing night watching the stars though.

I searched and gathered whatever weaving things I could find. Mostly long green grass and light brown vines.

“Grandfather, can you carry my stuff up to that tree?” I asked.

“Sure” Grandfather said, they lifted the messenger bag and the staff up onto the tree top.

That way I could grab more things. So I quickly filled my hands with grass and vines and grandfather lifted it up for me, so that I could climb the tree. So, I climbed the tree, and when I reached the top, it looked boring. Just big grey leaves that were hot to the touch. But it was what I had, so I quickly started weaving, having to use more of the cloak's energy so that I did not have to jump from tree to tree. Once I was done, I set up a fire on the ground, and cooked my favorite food, Vuttioccoli Cobbler. I consider it a delicacy.

“Is that vuttioccoli cobbler? Gross'' Grandfather spat.

“Oh please, you just can’t appreciate it” I spat back.

“Whatever” Grandfather said.

As soon as it was done, I gobbled it up, packed up my things, and went up to my little tree palace, and watched the stars. It reminded me of grandmothers shimmer in her eyes whenever they knew they were right. I got a bit homesick, so I decided to try and fall asleep. I woke up when the sun was barely rising, so I got all of my stuff, and quickly headed out. I checked the diamonds on my cloak, and it looked like I had enough energy to pass an island and get to another before dark. Maybe a third one if I was lucky. But before I went for lift off, I had a question. So I walked to the edge of the island, sat down, and asked.

“Grandfather, why are you connected to this staff?” I asked.

“Well, I made the staff, and I considered it good luck. Strangely enough, when I lost the fight to your mother and became a spirit, the staff was the only thing that survived. But, once your mother resided to continue going to the temples, the great elder god, father of Pax and Khubus, took the staff and hid it in your favorite tree. They told me that you would find it once you were capable of making the journey.” Grandfather said.

“What is the name of the great elder god?” I asked.

“Uxaldir, god of creation,” Grandfather said.

“Ah, does Uxaldir share a temple with their kids?” I asked.

“Yes, it is called the Temple of Key Gods. As they all came first, then smaller temples around them are for the other gods. From old tales, it is told that the temple keeps the Ageless Garden and the Ring of Ending. If you make it to the center, it has statues of all three gods, and it has Uxaldirs light.” Grandfather spoke carefully.

“Hmm” I said thoughtfully, then I stood up and took off. Knowing plenty more than before.
