Sam scanned the shop menu many times and calculated what to buy with his remaining reward points.
When Sam decided to go to sleep the gate to the throne room opened and Linda entered, he had totally forgotten their meeting.
" Hello Sam, what can I do for you?"
" I asked you to come because I wanted to inform you about the things going on in Woodchester and Oakhausen."
Sam told Linda what he had done during the day and what he planned to do with the reward points. Linda listened and gave her own opinion in the end.
" We should not forget to strengthen the defenses of Blackstone city. Our soldiers aren't really high levelled, there are no more than five soldiers over Level 10, if you exclude the members of "Nightwatch".
Linda left after she had told Sam her opinion.
He slept afterwards, only to wake up early the next morning. He drank a tea and sat down on his throne to continue his management of the city.
" I have to buy new tools for Lance, as well as at least two new carriages with horses. 50 workers and 15 more fighters of Level 5 for Oakhausen should be sufficient.
375 points for the soldiers, 250 points for the workers, 200 points for the equipment and 300 points for carriages and horses. We should be able to breed the horses and build the carriages ourselves in the future, this should be the only time I have to buy them."
Sam checked his total reward points again. After his settlements had produced the daily points he had exactly 1.715 points to spend. He went out of the keep and bought the carriages, soldiers and workers first.
Sam ordered them to go to the quarry, so they could fill the carriages and transport the first loads of stones to Woodchester. The soldiers and workers who would go to Oakhausen later, could accompany them.
Sam went to the smithy afterwards and bought the tools, which Lance required. He returned to the keep after that and checked his remaining points.
" I have 590 points remaining. I will spent 300 points on rice and grains, the remaining points will be used to get a few more soldiers. I am not confident in our military strength right now. We need to train our fighters so they rise in their levels and get new skills.
Buying high leveled soldiers will be too expensive, Level 5 should be sufficient!"
Sam bought another 10 Level 5 soldiers and the food, which left him with 40 reward points.
He sent the new soldiers to Lance, to get weapons, thereafter they should go to the training fields. He had only bought two archers, while the remaining men were warriors and knights. Blackstone City had more archers than melee fighters, which wasn't really reassuring.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Sam contacted Kain and told him to look after the new warriors and help them with their exercises before he got back to talking to himself.
" We have to organize parties, which explore the surroundings and kill the stray monsters. If I put one or two experienced fighters together with a few inexperienced ones, they should be able to level up more easily."
Sam looked at the city stats and realized that two more new stores had opened. One specialized in shoes, especially for workers. The second store sold mostly gear and equipment for hunters. Sam was surprised.
" The owners of these businesses saw what was needed the most and used the timing to open the right stores, really clever! I should take a look at these stores and their owners.
I totally forgot the players in the adventurers guild! I should check what kind of people they are right now! They might be spies."
Sam, who had spent all of his reward points decided to visit the guild and look for the players.
It was still early and only a few people sat inside the guild. Sam spotted a man who seemed familiar and approached him. It was a tall man with short hair. Sam believed him to be one of the players even though he wore armored boots now.
" Hello, do you mind if I sit down? I don't know many people here."
" I am waiting for a friend, so I don't have time talk with you."
The man answered, Sam however felt something wrong. The accent of this man seemed familiar. Sam thought for a moment before realizing it.
Russian!
Sam frowned for a second before smiling again.
" No problem, I will wait with you!"
Sam played naive and grabbed the chair to sit down at the man's table.
" Fuck off!! Who do you think you are? I told you I don't have time! Fuck off now or I will smash your head! Do you know who you are talking to? I'm Level 13! I will kick your ass, you fucking noob!"
The man stood up and slammed the table, while shouting at Sam, who was stunned about the unexpected rage directed at him.
At this moment another person entered the guild building. This man looked similar to the raging player but he seemed to be a bit more calm.
" I don't know what happened, but I am sorry for my comrade's behavior and I would be thankful, if you could leave us alone!"
Sam frowned again but quickly recovered and smiled at the man who had spoken to him. The newcomer had the same Russian accent as the other man!
" I'm not sure what exactly happened myself...I will take my leave."
Sam turned around and started to walk out of the adventurers guild. He heard the unfriendly man talking to his comrade before stepping out of the building.
" If we were in Bloodhaven i would have killed that little shit!"
" Calm down you idiot!"
They started to whisper after that, nevertheless Sam had heard enough. He left the guild and called all of his guild members. He arranged a meeting in the keep and returned immediately.
Inside the conference room of the keep.
Sam, the twins, Linda, Kain, Jack and Nissa sat around a table. Sam had informed them about his encounter in the guild.
" They are clearly here as spies. Bloodhaven is the city Ivan governs.
I will tell you right now, I won't show mercy to Ivan and his people! I am pretty sure there are a total of three spies in Blackstone city and I will make sure that none of them returns to inform Ivan about our city.
I want you guys to separately stay inside the guild and oversee their actions. These people are former mercenaries, and especially the one who raged earlier seems to be a person who needs to vent his anger frequently.
Sooner or later they will accept a quest to have some action, when this happens you have to inform me immediately!"
All of the people present looked at Sam with different expressions. Nissa was the first to open her mouth and ask a question.
" You want to kill them while they are outside the city to absolve a quest?"
