D rank adventurer

D rank adventurer

Linda was the first to answer.

" Don't use them yet! How about we ask Rudolph, Carl and their people if they want to return to their former villages. Like this you only have to worry about the defenses of these territories and not the whole population. "

Sam nodded " Yeah I didn't think about that. You are right, let's go to Blackstone first. We have to hurry up, I don't want to leave the two villages without guards. We don't know how many factions have their cities nearby.

We could lose the villages if other factions or monsters decide to occupy them!"

Sam and his group left Oakhausen after ending their discussion. They killed a few monsters while heading to Blackstone city. They arrived in the afternoon heading straight towards the keep.

Sam ordered a guard to call the rest of his council over. Half an hour later Sam, his group, Rudolph, Carl and Nissa sat inside the conference room of the keep.

" That's how it is. We cleared Woodchester and Oakhausen and can occupy them again. Rudolph, Carl, I want to know what the both of you think. Would you like to go back to your former villages or not and what do you think the other people of these villages want to do?" Sam asked the two former village chiefs for their opinion.

" I would love to return to Woodchester but for that to happen we need more soldiers and experienced fighters to protect the villages! " Rudolph said, to which Carl nodded.

Sam listened to Rudolph while thinking.

' We don't have enough men, especially capable fighters. I have to check the shop menu and see what sorts of units I can buy!'

Sam opened the city menu clicking the shop icon.

A list with different categories like units, items, buildings and so on appeared. Sam choose the units and the window refreshed showing Sam the military units he could buy. He found the archer. The price for a Level 1 archer was 5 reward points, a Level 2 cost 10 reward points. The highest leveled archer he could buy was Level 5 for 25 reward points. All of were able to level up after training and fighting.

' Maybe if the city grows the units I can buy will be stronger?'

Sam found warriors, assassins, knights and mages, as well as simple city guards. Their prices were more or less the same as the price for an archer. He had a lot of choices and many more were still blurry meaning that he could unlock different types in the future.

Sam closed the menu again and looked at his council. He turned towards Nissa and asked her " How are our archers doing? Tell me about their numbers and levels."

" We have 50 archers right now, ten at Level 1, 15 at Level 2, 15 at Level 3, five at Level 4 and another five at Level 5. Our archers are getting stronger day by day, but the problem is the rest of our army! We have nearly no close combat fighters and most of the ones we have are city guards. We need more soldiers or we won't be able to occupy two villages! " Nissa answered.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Sam thought for a few moments before asking Rudolph and Carl about the economic situation. Carl coughed and started to speak

" We have around 950 people living in Blackstone city right now. Half of them are women and children. Around 70 are military personnel while the rest are mostly farmers and workers.

We started to mine for steel and prepared to extend the walls. We made a plan to build another defensive wall around the town. The space we win inside this stone walls could be used for living quarters and production facilities.

The biggest problem right now is the food! It's already august, with this amount of people we won't have enough to eat during the winter!"

Sam worriedly opened the shop menu again. He found the category resources. After a bit of searching he heaved a sigh of relief. He had found different sorts of grains as well as meat. He could buy ten kg of meat for two reward points.

' I won't be able to feed a whole city with this small amount of reward points, I have to think of a way to increase them...that's it! ' Sam smiled and asked Nissa and the former village chiefs.

" Tell me, did the adventurer guild open a branch here while we were gone?"

" Yes, how did you know? They appeared a few hours ago and described us their buisness. We gave them a suitable building and they have most likely already moved in. " Rudolph answered him.

" I will take a look, register myself and check out the quests!" Sam ended the meeting and the people left one by one. At the end only Sam and the smiling twins were left.

" Hey Sam, can we come with you? We want to become adventurers too! " Anna asked while she hugged his arm.

Sam looked at the two beautiful women with a smile.

" Sure, why not? Let's go together then." Sam walked out of the keep followed by the twins. They were halfway to the adventurers guild when each of the twins suddenly grabbed one of Sam's hands.

Sam panicked. He had never encountered a situation like that in his life. He had no girlfriend before and his only sex experience had been a middle aged whore one of his colleagues had " gifted " him when he was dead drunk.

In a situation where beautiful twins were holding his hands and smiling at him his mind went blank. Anna and Nina who saw him dumbfounded giggled, holding his hands even tighter.

They walked through the buisness street until they reached a big stone building with a wooden gate.

A sign above the gate read ( Blackstone City Adventurers Guild ).

The twins let go of his hands before they entered the guild building. Sam wiped his sweaty hands at his pants while his fast beating heart slowed down again.

They entered the building. It was almost empty. Two people who looked like archers were having a drink. At the counter sat a young girl around 16 years old. She smiled at Sam and the twins and said

" Welcome in the adventurers guild! Do you want to register yourselves and become adventurers?"

" Yes! The three of us would like to sign up." Sam answered.

They only needed to tell their names and classes. After that they dripped a bit of blood on a crystal which verified that they were above Level 5.

Each one of them got a copper medal engraved with their names and classes. The copper medal classified them as D rank adventurers.

" Where can we look at the available quests? " Nina asked the girl.

" Follow me I will show you the quest board. "

They followed the girl to a big board where some pieces of paper were attached to.

" The quests are described on these sheets, the guild rank is written on the top right corner. If you want to accept a quest take the sheet and bring it to the counter. Some quests can be done solo, some need a group. There may also be quests that need 50 or more people!

You will increase your guild rank and earn reward points or money when you complete quests!"

The twins were already looking through the available quests when Sam got a call through the guild chat.

" Hey Sam, it's me Kain. The situation over here gets worse. Ivan wants to take over this city. A messenger came a few moments ago and declared that Ivan will attack tomorrow morning. He became more aggressive after the patch. Bobo and his group are discussing what to do right now. Do you want me to convey a message to them?"
