Wrong(1)

People's eyes focused on the leader of the middle-aged people. Next to him was a chubby-looking middle-aged person, but I felt faint traces of mana on his hands.

'Ah, he was the one who made that fire explosion'

And judging by the power, it could severely injure an elite goblin.

Assessing people's strengths has become a habit.

"We have a problem. As you all know, after the special monster died, new monsters appeared instead.

These monsters are way stronger than the monsters we fought yesterday. Therefore, we cannot isolate ourselves and die for no reason. We need to set up camp here in the field and make a plan.

Who knows if a special monster will appear again? For that reason, we need to group up, as we need all the manpower we can get".

"Who cares if another special monster appears again? The wolf that spawned could be taken down by a single person alone. I could probably kill the wolf alone too".

A young man interrupted.

"Yeah, that's right".

"The special monster must have been weak".

"You are being too careful".

More people interrupted and agreed with the young man.

It did make sense, though. If the special monster was killed by a single person, wouldn't that mean that the special monster was too weak?

Because it meant that the wolf could be killed by a single person.

But as someone who had to continually grind for 6 months, those comments were pissing me off.

'Why did I train for so long?'

The wolf was not meant to be taken down by a single person; it was meant to fight in numbers.

But these people did not know that, so I had to somehow show that they were thinking wrong.

'It was not that the wolf was too weak; rather, it was me who was too strong.'

I had to put that thought in their heads. And luckily, I know the best way.

I dashed to the young man, who was the first one to interrupt. Before he had time to react. I knocked him down on the ground and unsheathed my sword.

"So you think you could kill the wolf alone?"

I saw shock in his face, but soon I felt him try to gather mana in his hands.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

'Was he really trying to attack me?'

I stomped my foot on his hand.

Crack!

"Argh!"

He screamed in pain, but I didn't care.

"Let me ask you again: do you think you could kill the wolf?" I said with a threatening voice.

"Hey, get off him!"

I heard someone shout, and at the same time, I felt a projectile approach me from behind.

Turning around, I saw an arrow quickly trying to reach me. I grabbed the arrow and looked at the source.

It was a young girl who held a bow in her hands.

'Did she really shoot that arrow at me?'

That arrow was really fast, and if I wasn't as strong as I was, that would have seriously injured a normal person.

I put my sword back in my sheath, and I threw the arrow, aiming at her leg.

Another sound of pain could be heard, but at the same time I heard running steps from my side.

Turning around, I saw a big person holding a shield quickly approach me. He was running with all his might, trying to take me down.

But I quickly dropped the arrow and stopped the shield with one hand. I assessed his strength.

'He was a little weaker than an elite goblin'.

He put more force into trying to push me back. But just like an immovable target, I was standing completely still.

With my other hand that was free, I punched right on the shield.

The shield broke, and he flew meters away.

All of this happened in less than 10 seconds.

Soon everybody noticed what was happening, and they looked at the commotion.

They were all giving me hostile and confused eyes.

Were they really looking at me like I was the enemy? After I trained so hard to kill the wolf? I made sure that no one would die; they should be grateful!

"What are you guys looking at? I heard some complaints that the wolf was weak!

Yeah, the wolf was killed by me. But do you think that means that the wolf was too weak?

NO! I am too strong, and if the wolf fought against you, all of you would die.

So don't give me crap like the wolf must have been weak".

A silence appeared after I yelled in anger.

As I scanned the field.

I soon locked eyes with Yon, but I didn't see eyes of gratitude; I saw eyes of fear.

'Why are you looking at me that way? I saved you. I was just trying to keep my promise.'

That's when I realized and looked at what I had caused. The young man below me was twisting and squirming his body in pain. His hand was completely shattered.

The girl with the bow had fallen to the ground and had an arrow stuck in her thigh.

The man with the shield was completely unconscious on the ground.

As I realized this, I could finally hear the scream of pain and not the silence that was before.

'No, this is not what I wanted'

Why did I react this way? I thought all the things I did were reasonable, but this was not reasonable at all.

'This was wrong on so many levels'

I quickly ran away from the field, using my skills. Nobody could stop me, as I was entering the forest at an impossible speed for normal humans.

What is wrong with me? Why did I act that way? All I wanted to show was that the wolf was not weak.

Did I really have to act so brutally?

In the end, after I killed the special monster, another monster appeared instead. And that monster was slowly evolving inside me.

This was really bad. After so many regressions, I felt like I had lost something.

Each regression has made me more and more ruthless. I started to not care about how these people felt. I keep saying to myself that I am doing this for their own good.

But was I really doing that?

No. Instead, I was starting to think of the other people as NPCs instead.

NPC's whoose only goal was to make me clear the floor.

From their point of view, I suddenly got hostile and attacked one of the players. They were just trying to defend themselves.

In the end, my rule to not make companions at all was backfiring. By avoiding getting to know these people, I have started to not even think of them as normal people anymore.

I need to let this emotion out somehow, and there was only one person I could think of.

I took my dagger and stabbed myself in the eye.
