Battle(8)

After around 20 more attempts, I stopped fighting the wolf temporarily.

But instead, I was trying to get to know each player's skill.

Why?

I hoped that one person here had a buff skill, so I could temporarily increase my stats. Because it was getting tiring to fight this wolf.

After figting the wolf so many times, it was easy to injure it severely, but the problem is after I injure it severely.

The wolf transforms and becomes a little bigger, and at the same time, it becomes faster and stronger.

But it still fights the same way, and because it got faster, it was hard for me to keep up.

So if I had a little more stats, I would be 100% sure I could kill the wolf.

I know I said that I wanted to kill the wolf alone without any help. But I think my point has been proven.

It didn't count that the wolf had a transformation that made it stronger.

And trying your best to kill it should count just as much as killing it.

That's why there is something called 'A for effort', right?

I know this goes against my words about fighting the wolf alone, but wasn't I technically fighting the wolf alone? I was just getting a little extra stat buff, just like my sword skill.

Jihye, Lee Min-ho, Kang Sangwoo, Kim Jihoon, and the girl with the sports jacket definitely did not have buff skills. So I could cross them off the list.

But after asking all the people here, not a single one had a buff skill.

But getting the other people to tell their skill was a pain in the ass. I tried to play it friendly and cool to get them to tell me their skills.

But not everyone was like Lee Min-ho, who would willingly share their skill.

I realized that it would take a long time to become friends with them and make them tell me their skills.

Therefore, I had to use a different approach.

So the usual way would go like this:

"What is your skill?"

I would ask one of the people, and they would say stuff like:

"I heard that it's better to keep it secret and not tell stuff like that".

Which was a fair response, but as a regressor, I would find out at some point.

But the thing is, I do not have the patience to do that, so I used a different approach.

"It's good to keep secrets; that's usually how you would survive for a long time, especially in a situation like this.

But the thing is, if you don't tell me, I will kill you, haha."

So I would threaten them to tell me, as it was a very efficient method.

But it seemed like most people thought I was joking.

Therefore, with one hand, lifting them up by the neck was usually the way to go.

Because of my high strength, it was very easy to do.

After that, I would take my dagger out, and that would usually seal the deal.

Following that, most of them would usually just tell me their skill, as it was not worth it to hide it.

Others would need a little more force, as they thought their skills would be strong enough to defend themselves.

Which in normal situations would have defended them, but because I was so overleveled, it didn't matter.

They would all become very obedient and afraid, but a single regression could fix that.

The conclusion was that no one had a buff skill at all; some people had some interesting skills. But no one had a skill that could buff a person's stats.

So I had to follow my plan as usual and fight the wolf alone.

Right now I was in the forest killing the goblins, trying to fill the quota to make the wolf spawn. And after killing a multitude of goblins,

[Announcement: You have leveled up!]

"Oh, I leveled up? I should be around level 12, then. I haven't looked at my status window since I was level 11, as there was no need for it.

So I looked at it after the announcement.

[Name: Taeho Kim] [Level: 12]

[Age: 21]

[Stats]

Endurance: 22.4 (16)+

Agility: 22.4 (16) +

Strength: 29.4 (21)+

Magic: 0 +

Mana: 25+

[Stat points: 11]

[Skills]

- Perfect Clear[X]

- Swordsmanship[C]

- Trap Detection[F]

- Bowmanship[F]

- Daggermanship[F]

My base strength was 21, as expected after the level-up.

But there was something else that shocked me.

"Why do I have 11 stat points?!"

I didn't expect to have 11 stat points. I expected to have 6 stat points, but not 11.

I used 5 stat points on strength, but why does it still say 11 and not 5?

This really didn't make sense for me.

I knew that my status window was a little different compared to others, as I would need a lot more experience to level up compared to other people.

Other people only had to kill 1 goblin to become level 2, but I had to kill 10 goblins before I became level 2.

But this doesn't explain my extra stats.

Why do I still have so many stat points available? Maybe it's just showing 11 stat points, but it's not real; maybe it's a visual bug.

In theory, I should have 6 points and not 11. So should I try to add 7 points to agility?

I need the speed anyway to fight the wolf when it transforms.

And if it is a visual bug, I would only be able to add 6 points to agility.

After trying to add 7 points to agility, I felt my body getting stronger. So I looked at the status window.

[Name: Taeho Kim] [Level: 12]

[Age: 21]

[Stats]

Endurance: 22.4 (16)+

Agility: 32.2 (23) +

Strength: 29.4 (21)+

Magic: 0 +

Mana: 25+

[Stat points: 11]

"What?!"

I exclaimed in surprise as my agility stat increased by 7 points. But in theory, it should have only been able to increase by 6.

That's when a thought popped up in my head.

I felt my heart beating very fast in excitement.

"There is no way it works like this."

I tried to confirm my theory, and I tried to add 5 more stat points to agility.

[Name: Taeho Kim] [Level: 12]

[Age: 21]

[Stats]

Endurance: 22.4 (16)+

Agility: 37.8 (27) +

Strength: 29.4 (21)+

Magic: 0 +

Mana: 25+

[Stat points: 11]

As expected, it only increased by 4 points instead of 5.

But that was amazing! My agility was around 22 points before, and now it's almost 40 points.

This was so hard to believe!

My theory was that the '11 stat points' worked in a different way. It didn't work like in video games, where if you add one stat point, you also lose one extra stat point.

But instead, it works like a collective thing. So I tried to increase my strength by 10 points to check my theory.

[Name: Taeho Kim] [Level: 12]

[Age: 21]

[Stats]

Endurance: 22.4 (16)+

Agility: 37.8 (27) +

Strength: 37.8 (27)+

Magic: 0 +

Mana: 25+

[Stat points: 11]

It was exactly the same as before; it increased by 6 points instead of the 10 I thought in my head. So this means that the '11 stat points' can increase my stats with 11 extra points.

This is super amazing!

That means every time I level up, my physical stats increase by 1 point, but at the same time, I also get extra stat points that can increase my stats by 1.

That is essentially the same as getting 2 points every level up instead of 1.

I quickly tried to add the 11 stat points to all my stats.

[Name: Taeho Kim] [Level: 12]

[Age: 21]

[Stats]

Endurance: 37.8 (27)

Agility: 37.8 (27)

Strength: 37.8 (27)

Magic: 0 +

Mana: 25 +

[Stat points: 11]

After trying to add all 11 stat points to all my stats, there was something that surprised me.

Why is my magic stat still 0? And my mana also hasn't increased.

"This is weird," I said awkwardly.

I tried to press the '+' symbol on my status window, but nothing happened.

I tried again with no result.

"Huh?"

Why didn't it work? I can still see 11 stat points in my status window. Why couldn't I add that to magic and mana?

Does my stat point not work with magic and mana?

"Why the f*ck does it have a + symbol then?" I couldn't help but get angry.

What is wrong with this system? If I can't get magic by leveling up or adding stats to it, when would I ever be able to use magic?

Was I doomed to always be a warrior? I guess I need to practice my bow skills at some point again.

If I couldn't add the stat points to magic and mana, what was even the point of extra stat points?

Isn't it the same as increasing my stats by 2 instead of 1 when I level up?

I guess I can just blame the system for being stupid.

"Ahh, if only I looked at my status window earlier".

I regretted it so much that I didn't look at my status window when I added my stats.

I thought there was no need for it, but I couldn't cry over spilled milk.

But nevertheless, there was something I got very excited for.

My stats have almost doubled, which means,

"That wolf is f*cked now".
