Wake Up As Mafia Boss Chapter 41

Wake Up As Mafia Boss Chapter 41

The [[Mafioso]] was one of most popular reversed otome game and the first successful game made by Aljen’s team in lat 21st century. The first of its kind to be introduced as the mixed genre of sci-fi and fantasy which focuses more on Mafia organizations. There were twelve female characters that had been developed for the feminist side. The whole world was full of men so they used girls as the bait. But still, it was still a huge hit on the market list.

Before it became like that, It was originally as just for entertaining but because of the profit, everything had changed. Several advertisements had been implemented, people demanded more role-playing projects and updates and at least a few complaints were admitted on their side. Like so many villains with the same power and mindset, the new generation of players wanted something new. Someone who’s not very common nowadays. Therefore, Aljen and his team made a lot of effort to give them hell. They created a lot of new villains with different powers, limiting the power struggle of the playable female characters and side characters. They made all the villains more powerful. But still, the players wanted more. They wanted something incredible that made them become frustrated. Although they gave them what they wanted, the players were still bored with their game.

What’s the point of entertaining the players if their customers were not satisfied. Every staff and the developers were all giving up in despair, Aljen was an exemption. He tried his best to save the Koalajima Company’s reputation.

“How about we make the weakest the last boss?” he said, getting the attention of his team who was an argument on the matter, “That should give them more challenging moment? It will motivate the weak to learn about life. That’s going to be a huge hit!”

Everyone was paused for a moment. They laughed at one another and one of his pals patted his shoulder and he mockingly told him, “Brudda, you need a break. Make the weakest villain the last boss? You gotta be kiddin’ us? Y’ should know that players can beat the minor boss and even the last boss, right. Right, guys?”

His staff members nodded their heads, agreeing that accepting his proposal was impossible and ridiculous. The bell rang. All of them went outside to go for lunch. But Aljen stayed.

“If they can’t, they’re useless fools,” he muttered, moving his pen on a scratch paper that had been torn apart by the president. “I’ll make Mafioso great again!”

He asked the scriptwriters to make a new character. A character with a chilling aura, but a weak presence. A person who had charisma but low stamina. But with the power of knowledge, money, and power with wisdom, he could defeat his enemies even the Evil Gods. Without the permission of the president and director of the company, he updated the game. He imprisoned himself inside the Gaming studio for three days. When his action had been discovered, they tried to stop him. They thought he would fail but something happened so compellingly. After three days of playing, the players sent a lot of feedback. It was a huge surprise to everyone. Receiving a review within a week petrified the whole company because they thought it was a piece of negative news. However, it was a positive response with many messages on it.

‘You made a good character!’

‘Your last boss is really challenging. He’s a beast. He’s weak but really amazing.’

‘I fought a lot of incredible and overpowered bosses but this guy is the best of all of them. He’s not boring yet entertaining. He’s incredibly weak but really frustrating to fight. I want him back!’

‘He’s the best of all bosses. How can someone like him fight us who have already reached the limit? My girls tried to use everything but we can’t win. I thought he’s weak but he’s character and background are really a huge impact for me. Please update his character.’

‘Hermes Archnemesis is the best villain I’ve ever encountered. He's so fuckin’ great. I want him dead but we can’t win because of his fuckin’ luck! He must be a hidden love target. Please make him one of the hidden targets! I want to catch him at all!’

All of this news gave hope for the industry. The noble sacrifice made by Aljen during his prime was remarkable. It was the day he promised he would never let his pride disappeared. That any type of problem had its own hole. A hole surpassed a lot of tragedies and struggles in life. One hook, you’ll be able to find the solution down there.

But right now, he’s no longer Aljen but as Hermes Archnemesis. He must act according to his will or else the world he lived in would change a lot. He knew he couldn’t prevent the death flag but he would never give up to reverse it. He’s the one who made this character so he could change his fate.

But the Quest about saving the village had been activated so he must finish the whole event according to its tactical scenario. First, infiltrate the stronghold - the Dungeon- together with Zairena, the beautiful maid, who’ll be one to save her people. She’s destined to fight Archnemesis forces inside together with her harem. But because it was changed, he must act as her companion and fight alongside her. Second, he needed to transfer the three Quoe monsters on the other side. They would become a huge obstacle against the enemies and his ultimate allies to kill his enemies without using his servants. But due to the unexpected result, he saved a lot of prisoners who should've become their appetizers. And lastly, beat the boss was the last checkpoint to reach the completion of the quest. But, how can someone like him do that though? The question he always thought.

Some side characters appeared on his way that shouldn’t happen in the first place. For example, the male character named Kurosaki who's destined to become one of the seven great assassins and a love target for the harem of his own half-sister sister. Incest? Not that Kurosaki himself cared about it. Oh, sweet Alabama! But it was destined to happen according to the plot made by his scriptwriters.

But something changed. He’s in the dungeon, imprisoned for such a long year for no good reason. Weak and pathetic who had lost his hope inside the cell.

Hermes theorized he was kicked out from his homeland. So he reluctantly invited him to temporarily become his servant. Serve him until they were escaped from that prison. To his surprise, Kurosaki accepted his offer of allegiance despite his background of being cold to strangers who he had met for only a minute. He swore his loyalty without hesitation.

Hermes sighed because of the bizarre situation happening before him. He wished to turn back time and fixed everything. But he must move forward to reach the present. A smoke was appearing on each side of the tunnel. Those people who were guarding every cell died from suffocation.

“Sulfur dioxide, huh,” he muttered. “Thanks to my mask, I won’t be able to sniff these gases. The Quoe monsters were producing some kind of chemicals if they were dissolving their prey. Poor people, they must be struggling from fighting those monsters. But I won’t yield and pity them. They deserved it.”

Hermes must prioritize to search the girl named Zairena or else, everything would turn upside down. He clicked his tongue as he recalled he was supposedly the one who would turn this event after all. But everything messed up because Verdugo family took the credit.

“Stump G, did you just send someone like me in this place? Am I the only one you sent here?”

On each route, he encountered a lot of dead bodies of humans and black rats. He was disgusted but still continued to walk on his way. For all investigation he made, the only place where the gasses won’t be able to reach was the last frontier of this dungeon. It was -

“I’ve finally reached it. The Dungeon High Court.”

The young Don opened the door, spread his arms with a noble entrance. He fixed his collar and started walking straightforward. The red carpet covered in dust, broken chandeliers on the top and the throne seated by Matheus Dante were the only things he’s seeing. The sidewalls and the floor were cracked because of the earthquake.

“To think such a young lad like you have reached this place alone. Y’ must really stupid?” Matheus mockingly exclaimed, sipping the glass of wine after he poured it.

“To think such a moron like you to sit on that throne while drinking a glass of wine full of dirt. Y’ must really noob to do that.” he sniggered. But that was not what he meant. He wanted to reply, “You’re drinking under the falling debris. You must not drink that glass of wine covered in dust.”

“Kid,” Mattheus giggled, “You sure have some guts to say those words to me. Tell me, what’s the difference between stupid and a noob, huh?”

“My apologies, but I already stated the answer.”

Matheus was amazed at his response but irritably, put down his glass on the floor.

“So, you’re telling me. The underboss of the Verdugo family. The most remarkable and respected person on this island. The most trusted person and second-in-command of my beloved Donna, Veronica Verdugo” He put his thumb on his chest, “A noob?”

Hermes sensed his aura was releasing a lot of mana. He made a grave mistake of answering those questions. Without exhausting any minute, he made this character became angry. He’s petrified, shaking his legs on despair.

He thought inside his mind that he’ll go to die.

Hermes quickly assented, “Don’t be ridiculous. I was just joking. Don't get mad for such a childish joke.”

Matheus, surprised, replied to him with a mocking smile thereafter. His aura behind his back had disappeared. “Oh,” he put his arm under his chin, crosslegged. “Y’ should’ve said it before then. If you didn’t, I already sliced your throat in an instant.”

Hermes heaved a sigh of relief; he’s lucky to save his own ass from meeting his death flag. he must find a way to defeat this guy. He must find a way to beat this dangerous man somehow.

But how?

He’s not in the right shape to fight a thug like him. In reality, he’s very weak compared to an ordinary low-level monster. What could be his character do in order to survive?

The answer lied on his own decision making and observation.

His character was created as an important figure of the whole series as one of the last boss. He was designed to become an obstacle to the overpowered players. He must act like him in order to win this taboo mode. Likewise, he needed to figure out how to establish an understanding between him and his opponent.

“Why’re you so quiet?” Matheus asked, tapping his finger on the top of his glass. “Are you afraid of me?”

“Such a question doesn’t need to be answered back,” Hermes, sweating, replied. “... I just don’t know how to interact with a stranger. That’s all.”

“Oh,” Matheus suddenly appeared on his side that made Hermes gulp. “You’re really annoying, aren’t you?”

“Everyone, ” he, dropped a sweat from his face, agreed. “Everyone’s telling me the same thing.”

“Mr. Archnemesis... ” he gently rolled his hand around his shoulder. “Archnemesis. You’re truly a remarkable child. To think you’ve come alone to face me beyond this dungeon.”

“Actually, I don’t. It’s really a coincidence.”

Mattheus, irritated, grabbed the young Don’s mouth. He asked, “Don’t speak while I’m still speaking. You shitty brat must learn to show respect to your adults.”

Hermes remained calm but his body puzzled from the sudden change of his aura. This was the first time for his life to face a certain villain. He’s really giving him a lot of pain.

“Now, how did you get in here?” Mattheus released him. “Speak up.”

“I used the secret tunnel connected to the river.”

“Oh, are you alone when you sneaked in?”

“N-,” Hermes hesitated at first, answered. “Yes.”

“Oh… how unfortunate,” Matheus gave the young Don a heavy slap but he stood still. “Do you truly think I’m kind of an idiot to believe such a lie? Who was it? How many are you? How the fuck did you guys do such large damage within this dungeon, huh? Speak up, you motherfucking moron!”

Matheus continued to give the young Don a beating resulting for his young body to fall on the ground. But still, the mad underboss had never stopped torturing him.

“Just tell me the fuckin’ truth, kiddo!” he kicked his stomach. Hermes coughed blood while covering his chest. “Who was it? Who helped you out? Speak up!”

Hermes couldn’t stop his opponents beating nor fight him on one-on-one. His truly hopeless this time. If only his character was designed to become a frontier, he already used it. But he’s a coward just like his original body on his world before he got transferred.

Remembering the past life was really a pain in the ass. Receiving a lot of beating was truly hurts so much. All he wanted was to live a normal life like an outcast. Prevent this kind of petrified torture by this guy who had so much grudge.

“Speak up, damn it!”

Hermes coughed blood again. He’s reaching his limit.

Matheus clicked his tongue. He fixed his collar and walked away from him.

“You don’t want to speak up, huh?”

“Every man has his own pride,” the young Don tried to get up, wiping the blood from his mouth who had dropped a lot. “Y’ can hurt my body but y’ ain't going to destroy this mindset.”

Matheus faced palm, looked at his frailed body.

“You’re an idiot. How pathetic.”

“Pathetic? A child like me who surpassed your men from behind the scene? Yeah, I’m an idiot.”

Matheus laughed. He quickly gave the young Don’s a powerful punch through his stomach. His body was thrown back to the wall, leaving a crack from the impact his body did.

Hermes coughed another blood but lesser than before.

“What a strong body you got there. An ordinary magicless child like you won’t survive from that kind of punch. But you are still alive?” he cleaned his arm by his handkerchief, “You’re truly a remarkable person.”

The young Don’s body was paralyzed but his mind was still stabled. Although his character was magicless, he had a long health point exceeding the life expectancy of other villains. That logic must be the reason why he’s still alive.

“Now, why you’re still wearing that mask? What’s the point of that thing?”

“Ff-f-f-for dis…. guise,” he replied.

“Pff,” Matheus covered his mouth, “Whatever. I thought you’re hiding some kind of trump but it turns out nothing. You’re the really pathetic creature.”

“Yeah,” the young Don smiled in U-shaped lips. “I am.”

Matheus cracked his fingers one by one, readied to give him another beating. “Guess, you’re really a stubborn child according to your profile. But no one’s going to help you out.”

While grabbing his neck up by one hand, a large shadow blocked the light behind him. Matheus turned around, surprised and trembled when he saw the thing.

“Q,quoe monster…, ” he dropped a sweat. “To think you’ve come.”

The Quoe monster attacked him. He quickly threw the young Don away from and blocked its attack. He asked himself how one of the three monsters got inside. As he used his magic spells, he saw a blonde girl hiding behind the concrete broken beam.

“Oh, the fuckin’ maid, huh.” he had pushed away from the impact made by the Quoe monster. “She used her earth magic to lure this creature inside the hall. Unbelievable!” A huge hole was created from the damage he’d taken. He had pushed away further by the teeth of the monster. “You’ll pay for this!”

“Mr. Aljen,” Zairena ran towards his body. “Mr. Aljen, please wake up.”

Hermes slowly opened one of his eyes, smiled and said, “Oh, Ms. Zairena. Hello.”

“Mr. Aljen, thank God. I finally found my siblings. And…. I found your servant.”

“Oh, g,g, good... and please don’t thank Stump G.”

“S,stump G? W-w-wait, don't close your eyes, Mr. Aljen!”

Zairena repeatedly called his name but he didn’t respond. Both of them were surrounded by flying papers. One of the contents of the papers stated:

[The host has fainted.]

[Evil God Slime Body armor activated. But can't do anything because of the mage besides the host.]

[Seven souls collected will be used for the host’s recovery.]

[The masochist butler is now freed. He’s going berserk.]

The moon hanged above the clouds. While the enemies were facing the monsters and the villagers. A man wearing his butler suit had appeared in the sky like he was stepping on the transparent floor. His name was notably known as the Black Demon Swordman. He’s an invincible and dangerous fellow. But on the side note, he was keen and loyal to one person who he wished to become his master to show his utmost evil. But to think he was caught by his enemies web. He’s readied to wipe out all the remnants of his enemies. It was his solely pledge to his boss. His name was Justin.

“I sense my beloved Don got hurt. Those who disgrace our family must perish. I nourish your lives as I’ll kill you all!” his eyes turned red, disappeared in one glance.
