Dungeon High court
The high court hall, the place of the meeting and events, was illuminated by several lights in the corner. In the middle, beautiful chandeliers hanged scattered in a horizontally and the long red royal carpet was laying down in the middle. Matheus Dante, the underboss of Verdugo, was sitting on the throne; he was drinking the finest-made wine of their family alone. Beside the chair, the statue of their dearest Donna, Veronica Verdugo, postured her own glory with a sexy pose.
A man in a suit opened the main door and entered. He gave a salute and rolled down the scroll he carried. He reported the splendid news to his lord and all of the glorious victories of his capos did earlier. It would not take any longer before they finally completed their conquest.
“I see, y’ may go,” he waved his hand and the messenger disappeared on his sight. Matheus leaned his chin on his hand; he rolled down his eyes and smirk.
“At last. After so many years, we’ve finally achieved it. It’s all thanks to you, my friend.” His sight gave a solemn stare to the man in a blue cloak, which a symbol of the golden moon hanging around the person’s neck, appeared behind his chair.
“Let me remind you that you haven't won the war against the family of the Archnemesis, Mr. Dante,” her feminine voice made Mattheus surprised.
“Woah, I didn’t think you’re a girl. What happened to your voice?” he asked, looking at her but only her lips could be glimpsed by his eyes.
“Fufu… it is my original voice. To think you mistakenly thought me as a male for all this year. Y’ sure rude, Mr. Dante.” she flipped his chair and made Matheus stared at her more cautious. “The moon hangs above the shoddy clouds, there’s a possibility that your achievements will go south. So don’t be so proud. You’ll eat your words afterward.” she moved closer to his face, and told him, “You’re going to be considered as a fool. So you need to be careful. ”
The underboss, irritated, gently pushed her face away from him; he took a sip and bluntly said he won’t fail. But instead of being amused, the mysterious person giggled.
“My apologies since we met that time, you're just a small person back then with a rough voice. Anyway, what’s so funny?” he asked.
“Nothin’. Do you realize that everything has not yet within your reach?”
“You come to visit me just for that? To think such a person like you is very concerning. No need to worry. I already grasp the future. ” he reassured. “Anyways, your prediction is really smooth and frankly, I cannot believe it’s happening. It’s going to the plan we’ve made.”
“Fufu~, the entire world will be pleased to hear your words of compliment, Mr.Dante. I’m quiet honor.” she, sat down in the side of the throne, fixed her hood and stated, “But you’re still not yet done, y’know.”
Her smile irritated the underboss and asked her, “Oh, then what part did I neglect to do, huh? Don’t you think you’re the one being rude here? We become acquaintance for at least five years. You’re just my guest. Stop your nonsense.”
“Indeed, I’m just a guest. An informant in your guess. But you’ve mistakenly believed that everything’s going easy this time.” she picked up something from her cleavage and gave it to him.
“Smells nice. This is -” his eyes opened wide; a picture of young Hermes on his suit was opened in their discussion.
“— Yep, y’ still not yet done with him.”
“Do you realize that this man is a weak, pathetic and magicless user? You already know that he’s not going to get in touch to our business since his butler is now being held captive in this dungeon. There’s no way he’s going to rescue his man here. He’s an asshole.”
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
“But you let him escape. I told you before to make a play where you’ll test him if he's changed or not. And then, killed him before he escapes.” she inclined.
“You’re ticking me off. Yes, to tell you the truth, he never changed. He ran away like a fool back then. I'm sorry if those fools let him escaped. Gosh, I disguised as an old woman and held as a hostage by my men. How pathetic. Your prediction was correct since he showed up in the scene and used some bluff tactics to manipulate the situation that he really did. I thought of the several ways to scare him so I let my men do their job. I got bored since I saw something from his eyes that made me unable to comply with your prediction. Stabbing behind a man is not in my vocabulary.”
She stood up and moved behind his chair, and she grinned, “I told you that you should kill him by your hands that time. But you didn’t listen to me. The catastrophe will come and the demon child will bring the chaos with triumph.”
“Hey, y’ should stop now. There’s no way that’s possible.”
“Fufu~, I warned you. Gods are not on your side anymore. The war in heaven had been started from the beginning before you are born.”
“Sounds like you were already born that time. Anyway, what the hell are you talking ‘bout?”
“Nothin’. It was just a quote.” she smiled, and picked up something from her pocket. “Anyways, you should take care of yourself by using this orb.” she tossed the item which he caught in style.
“What’s this?"
"An orb," she replied with wryly smile.
"I know, idiot. So you’re giving me a present to reconcile your rude comments?” he remonstrated. A violet oblong shape orb with a Celtic symbol in the middle had made the underboss jumped in the conclusion that this was not an ordinary object but a dangerous weapon. He sensed the power coming out from the orb that almost enlightened the whole room by its light. As the light disappeared, he couldn’t help but amazed. “This is… this item is — Why are you giving this to me? This item is a lost treasure!” he calmly asked.
“Naah, it’s no longer a treasure anymore.”
“You’re so foxy,” he stated. “Anyways, where do you want me to use this against?”
“Use that orb to kill the servant today. That’s an anti-demon item which enhances the ability of the user to absorb the power of all individuals with demon blood.”
“Are you kiddin’ me? Is this the item you used against — mm.”
With an instant, her pointing index stopped his mouth to open. “Ssh,” she gently tilted her head, placed her finger to her lips and said, “That’s a secret. But it is a reward for your successful attack to the village.”
His face blushed but he sensed an intense pressure from her aura. He couldn’t see her eyes but behind that hood was an eye of the devil.
“Don’t be scared. Just make sure to finish off that person before everything’s changed in an instant.”
“Seriously, what are you? I mean… Why’re you so obsessed with that kid? Why’d we care ‘bout him so much to the point you want his death?” he, condemned, criticized her reasoning.
“‘Cause you’re all going to face a lot of stress from the upcoming war.”
“War?” Matheus, paused for a minute, presumed she’s referring to the war against the villagers.
“You need to end his life before he goes wild. But at least, when you finish this quest, hope you don’t mind to give his body to me.”
“Surrender his body, you mean.” he corrected her.
The mysterious woman, surprised, giggled, “Right. I see. I see. My bad. I mispronounced my words. Anyways, I’ll be in touch.” her right hand. raised, made a door-sized portal, "See ya’ around" she gave a wave before she entered and disappeared from his sight.
“That woman. Why’re you so interested in that kid? He’s a useless don. He couldn’t even bring out his own feet to this place. He’s different from my beloved Donna. She’s cute and adorable. A much better leader than that son of a bitch. But I think, I should deal with that man. If her prediction was correct then I have no choice but to kill that person by myself. Hermes Archnemesis, if she's serious 'bout you, then I have no other choice but to do it. If you're going to become an obstacle to our family then say b-bye to your happy life.” he, tearing apart the picture of the young Don, declared. He, crescent-moon smiled, stood up from his chair. But suddenly, the whole room quaked that made him astonished. “An earthquake? W-wait, what’s going on?”
