Wake Up As Mafia Boss Chapter 20

Verdugo-Occupied District 5

5th Capo Battalion

11:00:22 AM

The fierce battle between the village guards and the forces of Verdugo continued whereupon a lot of casualties flowed in each sides. The fifth Capo, Patioche Woale, lead his men to breakthrough the tough defense in the gate of District 4. Getting frustrated, disappointed at the result of the battle and mad at the amount of casualties from the report, he moved outside his tent and grabbed his weapon from the hands of his comrades; a pistol and his sword.

He casted his fortification in his own body and enhancement spell to increase the fire power and strength of his weapons. As he approached the gate, the village guards of the District 4 shoot him on sight. The bullets hit their target; huge smoke and dust escalated his position. The villagers celebrated his death but in the eyes of their enemies, a smirk and evil laugh heard from their ears. The captain of the village guards wondered why they’re not crying and tempted to avenge their leader. Suddenly, four men of the guards instantly died. The captain and his companions panicked as their comrades dropped and fell in the ground.

“Captain, where the heck those bullets came from? Those morons didn’t even shoot anything.” One of the survivors asked, shaking from fear.

“I don’t even know.” As the Captain searched for the culprit, he peeked at the smoke and saw the bullets coming out from the smoke. His eyes opened wide as the smoke disappeared and the man they’d thought dead, was still alive and body was still intact while shooting his comrades.

“What the hell?” His last word before he died from head shot.

“The Captain is dead.” His comrade who witnessed his death, began to despair.

Those who lose hope dropped their weapons and leave their post whilst the others kept their spirit to fight until the end. But unfortunately, those who ran was killed by their own colleagues as they obeyed their rules; No retreat and no surrender until the death upon them. Those who run will face consequences. Death.

Capo Woale jumped over the wall and faced the hopeless guards. They simultaneously attacked him but their guns were outmatched by his sword. In quick draw, their heads tossed away from their bodies and spit blood from their necks. He draw his gun by his left and shot the upcoming men. In five shot, ten of them died.

The remaining brave village guards faced him, formed a firing position and turned their rifles against him. He smirked and mockingly swayed his sword to try and fire their guns.

“Fire!” the squad leader said, raising his sword as a signal.

But the bullets was easily blocked by his weapon and sighed in deep disappointment when no one of them scratched his uniform.

“Seriously, is that all you’ve got?” he said, showing his mana against them. Fear and hopeless felt in each of them.

“Don’t lose hope. Fire at w-”

“- No you don’t.” Woale shot down their squad leader and everyone began to panic and ran away from him. Dropping their weapons, the place had turmoil.

“Seriously? Is that all? Gosh, if I just know that I can easily breakthrough, I wouldn’t sacrifice half of my men. Damn it, I overestimated these fools.” He quietly laughed and raised his sword facing his companions outside the gate. “We’ve already take the gate.”

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

“Yeah!” his men raised their hands in victory, celebrating his great job of taking out their enemies’ stronghold.

“Damn it, we’ve lost more than half of our forces just taking this goddamn gate. For god’s sake, I’m the one who finish the job and need to lower the gate just for you morons. Damn it, don’t get mad at me if i lowered from one-fourth your salaries.” His grudge to his men was just gave them a reason to laugh as they knew he was just joking while saying those things.

“Alright, I’ll lower the gate now.” When he approached the machine connected to the gate, a powerful fireball launched against him. Luckily, he dodged the spell but the gate’s machine had severely took a big damage.

“Damn it, who dare to destroy the key for our success?” he asked, looking for the person responsible for its wreck.

“It is I.” he replied. An old man in the top of the roof wore an ordinary white shirt and brown pants covered of sewed cloth in his torn part in his knees, enchanting his fire spell and readied to fire through him.

“Ooh, may I ask who you are, sir?” Woale asked, rolling his gun in his pointing finger.

“You don’t need to know who am I. I’m here to defeat someone like you. How dare you kill these innocent people without remorse. I will show you how mighty am I against an evil doer like you.” he replied, releasing his fireballs through him.

“Oh, a man who has a guts to fight me, huh.” Woale dodged the first one and when he succeed, he countered the second one using his sword, “Take this.” He shoot him but the old man used his fire magic to intercept his bullets.

“Oooh, is that what you got, boy? Here’s my next fireball.” Around his waist, four sphere-shape red flames appeared. The pressure and amount of mana used made his position escalate and cracked the wall of the roof. “Here comes my magic, fool!”

“Hoho, let’s see what your next move capable of. Try it, old man.” he formed a defence stance and waited for him to strike. When the old man released his spell, Woale immediately casted his [Wreck] magic.

“What?” the old man realized something strange happening in his spell. All of his fire balls vanished in one strike. He dropped a lot of sweat and felt fear. “H-how? How did you do that?”

“Eeh?” he swayed his sword in disappointment. “Is that all? Easy to beat like a killing bees by one fan. Really, old man? Can you elaborate once again what you did earlier and tell me your name?” he mockingly asked him to follow his wish but the old man resisted.

“How could you? I’ll ne’er tell you my name. I’ll show you my full power!” He released a dozen fireballs around his waist floating in the air. He fired it without hesitation.

Woale sighed and aimed his gun to the fire balls. ”Fireball again? Really? What a waste of time. Well then, if you don’t want to introduce yourself, you’ll be granted to die as a man without a name in his tomb.”

“What?”

“[Fire burst]” In ten shots fired against the spell, all of his fireballs destroyed and the old man was burned. He cried for help but no one was willing to show up. Everyone witnessed their companion died miserably by Capo Woale.

“He is not worthy of my praise. Now, now, what should I do to this gate. Crap, maybe I should wait for the enemy to fix this stuff. Heh, let’s give them another chance to deploy more here.” he said and went outside the District 4 leaving the gate unoccupied. One of his Captain went to him to question his return.

“Sir, should we go now?”

“Nope, no need for now. Let’s give them another wave. Let’s have some fun for another round.” he replied.

“But sir. We’ve already got the place. Why’d we need to wait for them? We just go inside and occupied them.”

“That’s exactly the reason. Do you want to be reported in the place that I was the only one who got the gate in the first place? Do you want me to take the credit for the lost lives of our companion.”

“But sir.”

“Stop bugging me. Do what you can do. I need to replenish my ammo.” he said, entering his tent. The man who questioned him scratched his head and got mad in his decision.

“I hope you won’t regret what you did, sir.”
