Vel had spent a couple weeks in prison and despite the food being subpar it was still edible and free. The cell wasn’t that bad. In the beginning some of the bigger inmates tried to challenge her. However, it went like this.
Vel was casually enjoying the free food and room that the prison offered. When a big muscular monster guy came up to her demanding her valuables. Aluun was scared, but kept quiet. “Fuck off, asshole.” Vel rudely told the man off. He attempted to throw the first punch, but Vel easily dodged. She dodged punch after punch.
“Is the only thing you can do is dodge?” The man laughed. This unfortunately for him ticked Vel off a little.
“You want me to fight back, I’ll fight back.” A peeved Vel said. As she went in towards him and punched him with three jabs to the chest. However, they weren’t anything like he was expecting, given her overall smaller frame. They hurt a lot but she didn’t stop there. She landed a sequence of two alternating jabs into a gut punch. Which caused him to go down and lower his head. However before Vel could hit him with a finisher. An officer broke them up. The man’s pride was hurt as he was completely fucked if that officer didn’t step in. “That prisoner is a mage right? How are they so strong?” The officer who had stepped in muttered.
From then on there would be a couple challengers from idiots, who would get their ass handed to them. However, inmates generally left Vel alone since she was passive by nature, and didn’t outright hunt anyone down. At some point, Vel felt her mana pool increase after she woke up. “I guess today is my birthday, I’m nineteen now.” She said aloud.
“How do you know?” Asked Aluun.
“My mana pool just increased.” Vel replied.
“By a small margin?” Aluun asked.
“No it's a decent margin, I could probably make a portal with these cuffs still on. It was more than usual.” Vel stated. She then realized that it was a larger boost because of the reflection boost.
“I won’t even question it anymore, I’ve stopped trying to apply logic and reason with you.” Aluun chuckled. Vel laughed her comment off.
“Be quiet inmates!” One of the officers shouts. Due to the commotion that Vel and Aluun made. It was still early in the morning and still considered lights out. They both went back to sleep.
Once morning hit, they went along with their daily routine of mainly wandering the prison area. Nothing really of note happened during the day time. People were too afraid of Vel to mess with her and understood she deserved that red uniform. Aluun was reaping benefits due to her being friends with Vel. She got loads of information about concepts she didn’t really understand. The concept of alchemy really intrigued her. She would definitely like to experiment with it if she could.
Without warning Vel was taken by some officers out of the main area. Which surprised Aluun, but Vel was completely composed. Vel’s handcuffs were attached to a chain so they could lead her to her destination. “So where are you all taking me?” Vel casually asked the officers.
“You’ll find out soon enough.” One of the officers answered. Their voice was completely monotone with no emotion behind it. Vel sighed at the answer and kept following them. She was led to a room with a lot of devices that she didn’t recognize. However, inside that room stood a figure that seemed to resemble someone she knew.
“Hello Vel.” Said a woman who looked and sounded like Suzieen. Vel immediately broke her handcuffs to the shock of the officers. She sped towards the woman who resembled her mother and punched the air in front of her at an absurd speed. The punch’s aftershock bruised the woman’s chest and made her collapse. The illusion disappeared the moment she fell, revealing her true form. It was some woman Vel didn’t care about.

“Mama would never call me Vel like that, and she certainly wouldn’t even be flinched by that attack. How dare you insult her with your weakness.” Vel, the typically passive type, was angered by the fake Suzieen. “Another thing, I don’t see any alcohol in this room. Mom would never be without a drink in the room.” Vel’s sudden actions completely baffled the officers. The illusion made you see the one you care about most, they had thought they could use that person’s image to brainwash Vel. However, they completely underestimated Vel’s physical strength.
Vel attempted to put the handcuffs back on so she could leave. But they were too damaged beyond repair from her initial escape. “Uh, you wouldn’t happen to have some replacements would you?” Vel was back to her typical unserious tone. Vel was then hit with a tranquilizer dart that was strong enough to knock out an extremely tough alien. It was just enough to make Vel pass out.
When Vel awoke she was in an isolated room, she was strapped to a chair and had wrist bangles that sapped her strength and mana. “Vel, assaulting an officer is a serious offense. Go take some time in solitary to cool off.” Said an unfamiliar voice. “Even your super human strength won’t be able to break out of those restraints.” Vel calmly stood while restrained. She was completely calm and relaxed. She was completely relaxed and calm. She was completely bored. An unknown amount of time had passed and Vel was just bored. She sighed, as she broke free of her restraints. Which caused the room lights to go red. She then shattered the bangles by smashing them together.
“Prison life was interesting, but solitary is no fun so I’m going to take my leave.” Vel manifested an interdimensional portal and escaped the facility through it. She had landed in a place that seemed very normal looking. Aside from all the high rise buildings. “Oh wait, I forgot Aluun.” Vel opened a portal thinking about opening one to Aluun. A portal opened, and out came her prison buddy, Aluun. “Wow I guess choosing my portal destination is super easy after all. I just never really needed to choose until now. Hey Aluun, how does it feel to be free?” Vel was completely composed and laid back after helping her roommate escape prison.
“Well I’m not completely out of the woods, I still have these shackles on.” Aluun sighed. Vel responded by producing a wind blade and cutting her free from the shackles. “Well, thanks. You made it look so simple. After four years I’m finally free woohoo!” Aluun happily cheered. She stretched her body out now that she had full control over her body. “So where are we? It seems like the typical modern city.” Aluun states.
“Well I’m completely unfamiliar with it so you lead the way. Oh wait, go hide, they're here.” Vel noticed some unfriendly visitors.
“They must’ve had a tracker inside the cuffs. I’m sorry.” Aluun apologized. She blended into the crowd.
“Don’t worry about it, I'll hand them.” Vel said, replied but was immediately sniped with a powerful tranquilizer dart. A team then took her in and she was brought to the prison once more. However, she easily broke the handcuffs while she was there and then made a portal to the dimension where Aluun was. Vel stepped out of a portal and appeared in front of Aluun. Which slightly startled Aluun, who was relaxing in a cafe.
“Oh you’re back, that was quick. I guess they really can’t hold you.” Aluun said while sipping some tea. “I made some money while betting after taking a loan. I immediately won and was able to pay back the loan and make more money. It’s basically an infinite money trick if you are lucky enough.” Aluun laughed, she had made a lot of money this way in the past. Her luck doesn’t seem to have any limits with gambling. She gave Vel some money to hold onto. It was paper money, which Vel was unfamiliar with. Vel ordered some tea as well.
“It was kinda annoying to be hit with a tranquilizer dart from a long distance. Though it worked out in the end and they believed that I was the only one here.” Vel laughed. Nobody seemed to notice Vel coming out of a portal. Though it didn’t seem like magic was the norm here since Vel couldn’t sense anyone with mana. Afterwards they just wandered the city in search of what to do next. Vel attempted to gamble, but she had no luck. She left money making through gambling to Aluun.
Once the day was over, Aluun somehow created a device that would allow her to travel through dimensions using the materials she found here. They also bought new clothing. Aluun got a white crop top and jeans. Vel tried out a bunch of different clothing styles, but ended up choosing a plain shirt with a hoodie and sweatpants. Vel and Aluun decided they would continue onward in the morning.
They had slept in a hotel room that Aluun paid for and once they returned the key. They went into an alleyway, and Vel made a portal to the next world. They were on a ship that was sailing on a blue ocean. Though it seemed a little different from the ships Vel was familiar with. She sensed some magic being used. The sky was clear and blue. The ocean breeze was enjoyable for the lungs. Though it seems that they had ended up on not a friendly ship, as not too long after they appeared on the deck. Someone shouted on the ship.
“We’ve got stowaways!” This surprised Vel, but she readied herself for battle against whatever her opponent might be. So long as they didn’t suddenly snipe her with a tranquilizer.
