“That was awful. I was trapped in that prison of a dimension, constantly fighting forever.” Vel had awoken from her nap. Her body was in pain due to how much she pushed herself to keep fighting. “I’m really sick of getting hit with anti-magic or anything that prevents me from using spatial magic. If I hadn’t used my last resort of hitting all of those beasts at once with a magically enhanced fist. I’m not sure how long I would’ve been stuck there. I certainly wasn’t expecting to destabilize the reality though. I guess I still have a lot to learn about my type of magic.” Vel just sighed. After a moment of silence, Vel wrote down all of her recent experiences in her journal.
She just sat and zoned out. By the time she moved again, the sun had begun to set. She just watched the sun go down with a blank face. She did not want to move at all. The peace was nice, especially after all she went through. The wind moved her brown hair alongside the breeze. Her hair had become a mess since she was trapped. She cleaned herself up with some magic and then fell asleep to the sound of waves that surrounded the island she was on.
Whilst she slept she dreamed of fighting those endless creatures. They kept coming and coming and the hordes never ended, but her stamina could no longer keep up and they overran her and began to rip her apart. However, she woke up before she was completely torn apart. She woke up abruptly and her breathing was unsteady. She shook her head to clear away the uneasy feeling. Her experience took a toll on her, she had been in survival mode for who knows how long.
“I wonder what mom would do if she was suffering from some mental turmoil.” Vel blurted her thoughts aloud. Almost instantly, she answered her question. “Drink… She would drink some booze.” Vel sat and thought for a moment. Then she remembered the primordials gave her some alcohol as part of her farewell package. She opened the pocket dimension and made her way inside. She made her way towards the area where the alcohol was located. She grabbed a glass and went to a random barrel. It was made of white oak and had metal hoops. She placed her glass by the faucet and twisted the handle and out came a golden amber liquid.
The smell of oak with a slight hint of sweetness made its way to Vel’s nostrils. She had smelled alcohol before, yet for whatever reason it was more appealing now than before. The moment her glass was filled she stopped the faucet. She simply held the glass in hand and appreciated the smell.
She then took a sip of the amber-colored liquid. It tasted a little sweet but was incredibly smooth and delicious. Vel smiled and whispered, “Happy birthday, me.” She raised her glass into the air to toast herself. “I’m already twenty now. It’s been two years since I started my journey and most of it has been imprisoned somewhere. For someone with near limitless freedom, it’s a little ironic.” Vel just sat on the floor and enjoyed her glass of bourbon.
The more she drank the more relaxed and at ease she felt. Once her glass was emptied she refilled it. After finishing her first glass she drank it more slowly to savor the flavor. She just kinda sat by the barrel while sipping her glass. “Aaaaah, I feel incredible, all my worries have just melted away thanks to the alcohol.” Vel melted onto the floor in pure bliss. She was the most relaxed she had ever been. “I get why mom was always drinking, your problems just melt away along with all your negative emotions. I gotta drink more often!” She gleefully said. Vel got up and left the pocket dimension. She was drunk and the sun was rising at the beach.
“This view truly is incredible, I wonder how long I’ve been drinking for?” She asked aloud. Although, nobody was there to answer her. She was laughing and smiling while watching a relaxing sunrise. Whilst still drunk Vel opened a portal to a random dimension and fell sideways into it. Her momentum continued and she ended up cartwheeling down a steep hill. Rather than worry she was laughing and having a blast.
The hill had green grass and the sky was a nice turquoise color. Vel continued to cartwheel down the hill. Until she finally hit something, it was a massive ogre. He didn’t even flinch after being rammed by a cartwheeling Vel. Instead, he just got angry that something had bumped into him.

“So dizzy, w-woah.” Vel’s balance was completely thrown off after she cartwheeled for so long and she was still drunk. “Hi sir, sorry for bumping into you.” Vel mustered her most polite voice, but what came out was a bumbling mess. Which only pissed the ogre off more. He grabbed his metal club and attempted to crush Vel. However, in her drunken state, she swayed out of the way. He swung again but this time horizontally. Vel tripped and dodged the attack. While she was on the grab he attempted to crush her with his foot. Vel simply lay there and his attempt to crush her was thwarted by Vel’s strong body and instantaneous use of body-strengthening magic.
The ogre in his rage went to crush Vel with his metal club, but before he could finish his swing. Vel launched blades of wind magic. Which turned him into ribbons, after they cleanly sliced right through his body. Vel got up and continued to drunkenly explore the surrounding area. Vel laughed, as she kept running into dangerous monsters that only took a split second to kill.
Vel, in her drunken state, remembered her mother. Suzieen was telling Vel about the effects of her blood. There were the main useful ones like magic capacity and strength. However, there was one other effect that Vel had forgotten until now. It was that alcohol would be more effective on her if she wanted to get drunk quicker, and also boosts magic capabilities. Vel didn’t really care at that time, but now that she is living the true experience she is really glad for it.
Vel gleefully laughed after remembering that property of her blood. “Mom really wanted to pass on alcoholism huh.” Vel let out a small laugh. Vel had wandered towards a massive temple-like structure. The building was made of pure white marble and it had fancy pillars as its support. She went inside and as she continued to walk further in the light from outside began to get further and further. She just continued walking through the dark hall.
It was pitch black and she couldn’t tell how big or small the space she was in was. It felt endlessly wide but also small at the same time. It felt like a wide space with another presence present throughout. It was almost suffocating, or it would be if Vel wasn’t completely intoxicated. She gleefully walked forward, curious about what was inside this temple. The silence of the space was broken by a croaking sound.
Vel went towards the croaking sound and she made it to another pitch-black room. However, once she arrived in the room. Large frogs seemingly manifested out of thin air. They were floating, spinning, and croaking in each corner of the room. The frogs then erratically spun around and then crashed into each other. In place of where the frogs had crashed was one massive frog. The frog looked at Vel before it stretched its mouth open wide. Rather than the inside of a frog’s mouth, the frog’s mouth had a portal inside.
Vel went through, curious about where it would take her. After a split second when she opened her eyes, she was in a world of frogs. Frogs were the ground beneath her feet, frogs were the clouds in the sky, frogs were everything. Vel attempted to take a step but she fell through the frog floor. Underneath the frogs was nothing, she began free-falling after passing through the frog ground. She used light magic to see where she was. Above her were the frogs that made up the ground. Below her was a massive frog, its eyes glowed neon orange. Vel fell through the eye, which led her into another space. In that space, she heard a loud croak from somewhere. It shook the entire space she was in.
The croak ripped open a portal which Vel fell through and this time she heard a choir of frogs all around her. She was floating, but not from her magic. She was floating due to some mysterious force. The frog choir began chanting in unison in some ancient tongue. Vel could make out only part of it.
“Child of man, we are pleased to have you. For you possess an unimaginable ability. You’ve yet to scratch your potential power. That power of yours could change everything.” The choir of frogs repeated in an ancient tongue. After some time everything became silent and Vel was back at the entrance of the temple. The temple was normal and nothing seemingly changed. However, Vel simply didn’t have the desire to go back inside.
She flew on top of the entrance and sat down. “That was interesting. I think gonna drink some more.” Vel grabbed some more bourbon from the pocket dimension and sipped it while sitting atop the temple. “Alcohol truly is mankind’s greatest invention, mom.” Vel smiled while drinking her glass of bourbon.
