Chapter 6: The battle against the primordial continues and overwhelming fear

Chapter 6: The battle against the primordial continues and overwhelming fear

The mage and the demon clashed their magically enhanced fists. They were going blow for blow and kick for kick. They kept clashing and the more they clashed the faster they were becoming as they were both getting into the rhythm of fighting.

“So now it’s two battle junkies going at it.” The one who spoke had just sat at the table. It was the yellow primordial he had short frizzy yellow hair. He was taller compared to the other primordials sitting down. “Does anyone want to tell me who that girl is? Zelen you called us here. Would you mind explaining?” He asked Zelen who’s pride only felt more hurt as Vel unsuppressed more of her power.

“That human is apparently an interdimensional traveler who ended up in this world. When I fought them she appeared to only have the mana level of a low level demon. However, as you can see her mana pool is slowly increasing and it has increased to a higher ranked demon.”

“Rather than her mana pool increasing, I believe it’s likely that she is suppressing her mana and releasing more as the fight goes on. Which means she has a limit and she won’t keep rising forever. However, what that limit is exactly is unknown. I doubt it’s at the level of us primordials, but if she is from another dimension it’s impossible to know.” The 3rd to last primordial the violet primordial explained. She had arrived and had been watching Vel and Rosso’s battle. While she was explaining she took her seat and continued her explanation. The seated primordials watched the ongoing battle with interest.

The common thing that all demons share is an instinct for battle. Although their levels of passion for battle vary. Vel and Rosso were both going for simple punches and kicks; they both mentally decided to not use techniques and only use brawn and enchantment.

“Even though they are both using enhancement magic. Vel is using far less than Rosso. Is that a sign of confidence or arrogance? Despite that she is keeping up. I wonder what her limit is.” The violet primordial was relaying her observations of the battle. The primordials just continued to watch the brawl that continued to go on for three days. The one slowing down was not Vel, it was Rosso. The three days of constant brawling had finally begun to catch up with Rosso. At this pace this wasn’t much to Vel who was trained in combat by Suzieen. Combined with the training she had received as well as her natural physical abilities it was only a matter of time that Rosso, who had never gone on for this long, would falter.

“It’s over.” The one who came walking in was the black primordial, Noir. She had long black hair and pale colored skin. She was on the shorter end but she had well defined muscles. Alongside her was the white primordial. She had long white hair and dark colored skin. She had a beautiful toned figure. The pair just like the rest of the primordials had the same gold colored eyes.

The moment the words were spoken Vel had seen Rosso’s magic enhancement slip. She took advantage of the opportunity and landed a combination of alternating jabs, followed by a left hook into the jaw. Continuing the combo with a series of three right kicks. The first hitting the leg, followed by the waist. Then to the left temple, to finish out the combo she did a spinning roundhouse kick that decapitated Rosso. The combo of seven attacks were done at a superhuman degree of speed. She knew it wouldn’t kill but it did end the fight. Rosso’s head went flying until it hit the barrier. While her head was on the ground she let out a huge laugh. After the battle was over Azul dissipated the barrier. Rosso reattached her head before speaking to Vel.

“Wow! I’ve never been pushed this far and had someone willing to indulge me. To think the one to do this would be a human mage. Mages are supposed to have their lack of physical strength as their weakness. Haha hot damn.” Rosso had lost but she was feeling great. “Are all mages like this where you are from?” She asked, curious.

“Nah most have that weakness you mentioned, but my mom trained me both physically and magically. Specifically so I wouldn’t have that weakness haha.

“Next question is how much mana do you actually have or did your mana grow throughout the battle.” Rosso asked the question on everyone’s mind. The question made Vel think for a moment before giving an answer.

“A lot. I’ve been suppressing my mana and still am.” Vel stated, not giving a definitive answer.

“Can you show us what your unrestricted mana looks like?” Rosso looks at Vel with a pleading look.

“Maybe before I leave this dimension. Anyways, I’m hungry. I'm going to go hunt for some food.” Vel said as she was about to leave.

“Wait a minute, we’ll treat you. We got a good show after all.” Noir interjected, urging Vel to stay. Vel was a little wary about trusting them.

“Don’t worry it won’t be poisoned, us demons value strength. None would do something so cowardly.” Noir said, as if reading Vel’s mind. Her gaze seemed to pierce right through Vel’s heart.

I wonder if she can read minds? Vel wondered.

“No I can’t, I’m just good at guessing.” Noir smiled, answering the question on Vel’s mind.

“Oh well, your offering and I’m curious as to what kind of hospitality the top demons can offer.” Vel had produced an earth chair to sit on.

“We won’t be eating here, we’ll be eating at my estate. It’ll be a banquet, as you must be pretty hungry. You fought for three days without rest after all.” Noir states, as she proceeded to warp everyone present to her estate. Once inside the estate, they enter into a lavish dining room. There are a perfect amount of chairs at the beautiful dark wooden dinner table. It’s covered with a patterned cloth. Once everyone is seated, the food begins to come out in droves. All the food was excellently prepared by some of the best chefs that money can buy. Alongside the food there was expensive wine, which everyone got a glass of. Once everyone got their food Noir let everyone dig in. It was absolutely divine how wonderful the food tasted. Everyone was talking and eating the delicious food and Vel ate and ate. She was making up for the missed meals, she ate till she was completely stuffed. She also had a full glass of wine for the first time. Which tasted incredible.

This is amazing, no wonder mom always preached about how amazing alcohol is. Vel thought about when Suzieen had told her that alcohol was the greatest invention by mankind. She noticeably smiled while she thought of Suzieen.

“What made you smile, Vel?” Asked Noir.

“I just remembered something.” She replied. After the dinner finished Vel yawned. She had drunk a little too much and was feeling tipsy. Her body was not used to alcohol yet, so her tolerance was not super high.

“Feel free to use one of the guest rooms, just ask a servant to guide you.” Noir said, noticing Vel’s drowsiness. Vel went with a servant, she was putting a lot of faith into the demons. She was guided to a fancy door, and after it was opened it revealed a fancy bedroom. Vel crashed on the bed and passed out. The bed was incredibly soft and pleasant. Vel slept very soundly while everyone went home.

Whilst Vel was asleep Noir had invaded her room and watched her sleep. Just watching her without saying a thing. In silence and darkness her gold eyes glowed, as she watched her. Eventually she left the room.

“She looked so young and innocent, who would've thought that she is a powerhouse physically and magically. She might be the current strongest being in this world right now.” Noir quietly laughed to herself as she was leaving the hall Vel was staying at. “Her mother trained her to be like that, I wonder just how strong that woman is.”

Vel awoke from her pleasant slumber and instantly smelled a delicious aroma from the dining room. She stretched her body and realized she had received a dress to change into.

“I’ve never worn a dress before. How do I put this on?” She stated. Immediately upon hearing her query a demon servant came into the room to help her. After she had taken off her top layer the servant saw several scars throughout Vel’s body from training. She had an incredible build that one could only get from practical experience. The servant couldn’t help stare in awe at the results of countless hours of experience and training. The servant was able to collect herself and helped Vel into the dress and adjusted it with magic so it would fit perfectly. Vel walked out into the dining room and was greeted by the servants and Noir. The table this time was smaller and the length of a typical dinner table. She was invited to eat breakfast.

“Now that I can get a good look at your body, your build is incredible. You have a build that can only be developed through intense training and experience. It’s incredible to look at. It makes me wonder just how far can you go? What is your limit?” Noir went on a tangent, admiring all the hard work Vel had put in.

“Thanks for the praise.” Vel replied.

“You also do look lovely in that dress, I was right to pick that one for you.” She continued with praise. “I’m rather curious at what point do you plan on leaving this dimension? Do you have plans on coming back?” Noir asked Vel whilst they ate.

“I was planning to leave today, my goal is to never spend too long in one place. As for coming back, I have no idea. Because I can’t control the destination of where my portals lead.” Vel explained to Noir.

“How surprising, given how excellent you are at other types of magic. I would’ve assumed she would have control. It seems not.” Noir was surprised. “I would love to hold you here, but I understand your reasoning to keep moving forward.” Noir spoke with slight disappointment. Vel grabbed her notebook and wrote about the universal creation she witnessed in the previous dimension before moving onto the next page. On that page she channeled magic into her writing tool so it could write the name of the current dimension she was in. “Hellion” was the name that revealed itself.

You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.

“Hellion huh, I see.” Vel muttered after it wrote down the name. Vel wrote down notes about the primordials and the system of might makes right.

“What are you writing?” Vel’s notebook had caught Noir’s eye.

“Just about this dimension. It’s my notebook about all my experiences during my travels.” Vel showed the notebook to the curious Noir. There weren’t too many entries but they were interesting.

“You just keep something so valuable in a simple magic pouch. You might not believe me when I say this but an account from someone who travels dimensions would be incredibly valuable. To a lot of dimensions they likely believe that they are the only dimension out there. Just looking at that book I sense that it is from another dimension entirely.” Noir explained. “You know what I have an idea, how about you let Blanc help you create a pocket dimension. The white primordial is our resident expert on spatial magic.” She said as she telepathically called Blanc to come over. She appeared soon after being called.

“I’ll take part in this. I'm rather curious what would happen if we combine spacial magic with inter-dimensional magic.” Blanc said, with interest. Vel had finished eating her food and she was interested as well. The three walked to a special area made for testing magic just in case anything goes wrong. The area was made of incredibly durable and magically enhanced materials.

Blanc and Vel stood at opposite ends of a circle. “First I want Blanc to create a space using spacial magic and then imprint the name Vel Storio.” Noir was laying out instructions. Which Blanc perfectly followed, which created a small cyan three dimensional cube with the name imprinted on one the faces. “Now I want you to try to enhance that cube with your dimensional magic and we’ll go from there.” Noir said, then Vel took a deep breath in before picturing in her mind dimensional particles entering and merging with the cube. Which was reflected upon by reality. The cube glowed an amber color before disappearing.

“Did it work?” Vel was unsure.

“Call its name out loud so it can be imprinted onto your soul.” Noir said.

“Vel Storio.” Vel said, a portal opened that wasn’t like her own.

“Now let’s head inside to see.” Noir said as they all began to walk into the portal. Inside there was no oxygen, so Vel instinctively put magic on to let her survive. The pocket dimension was huge. Blanc modified the settings of the pocket dimension so it would have air and light. Vel watched as the dimension became filled with land and light. It reminded her of when she witnessed the birth of a universe but on a much smaller scale as this was essentially just a very large room. After a couple minutes it was looking very nice and pleasant on the eyes.

“Let me explain how pocket dimensions work and these should still apply to this insane one. First, time doesn’t move inside here unless you want it to in certain areas. Which is nice for storing things that you want to age like alcohol. Basically, you become your own god inside this space. To open the portal leading here just think of the name and it will appear. Perhaps you could also use your magic to lead into here. Also if you picture an area of the dimension and think of the name then you’ll open a portal in that specific area. To close it just think of closing the portal. If you want I can have workers build a house here in case you want to use this place as base or hub.” Noir gave an explanation of all the important information about the pocket dimension.

“Usually pocket dimensions aren’t this large but thanks to your magic it became something greater than the typical pocket dimension. For reference they are usually around a tenth of this size.” Noir made a square using magic particles to show how little that is.

“Damn, so our combined effort created this monster of a pocket dimension. Well I might as well clear out my magic bag then.” Vel quickly took out all the things that could go on the floor. The decapitated head of the Skylin god and other stuff.

“What’s that beast?” Noir said, staring at the head.

“It was a god of a cult in another dimension. It was probably powerful, but I didn’t really give it a chance to do much. It originally looked like a special griffin type beast. I cooked up all the edible parts.

“I see, a beast god. You really are something.” Noir sighed. After they organized a little bit, they left and then opened a portal in a more accessible area. Then Noir had a bunch of demon workers build a house and storage areas for Vel. After it was all done Vel went in to see the finished project. It was a lone house upon a hill with storage areas around. Blanc guided Vel on how to make certain areas no longer frozen in time. After which Noir gave Vel some supplies and some barrels of alcohol to let age. After everything was finished and prepared. Noir called all the primordials together along with Vel. They all stood in a group and got a photo taken which Noir gave a copy to everyone. Vel stores the photo in the Hellion section of her notebook. Vel said her goodbyes to the primordials.

“Visit anytime, I want a rematch after I’ve trained some more.” Laughed Rosso.

“Please come again when you feel like it. I’ll welcome you with the highest degree of hospitality possible in this world.” Smiled Noir.

“Who knows where my journey will take me. Maybe I’ll see you all again. Make sure you get more powerful by the time I come back because I won’t stop my growth for you.” Vel laughed.

Vel quickly flew to the old demon’s house she had met when she first got here. She knocked on his door, and he was afraid at first because her mana was less suppressed. However, he quickly became relieved when he saw her face.

“You’re still here, I was afraid you had perished when you went to battle the green primordial. Where have you been these past couple days?” He asked, as he let her inside. He brewed some tea and they both drank tea while sitting in the room they originally sat in. Vel felt the same peaceful sensation once more. However, she broke the peace the moment she said what had happened. The old demon was super shocked but he was glad she was okay.

“I was going to say my goodbyes before I headed out. This place was rather fun.”

“I’m glad you had fun and made friends with the primordials though that is only a privilege that the strong may have. However, I’m glad you came to see me as the last person to send you off. Enjoy your journey and have fun, Vel!” The old man gave Vel a nice send off. Vel smiled and waved as she opened a portal and left Hellion.

Once Vel had made it through the portal it closed and Noir felt her presence disappear and raised a glass to her. “May your journey continue to be interesting and enjoyable. I hope you reach your maximum potential.” All of the primordials raised a glass.

“To Vel!” They all shouted in unison and raised their glass.

Vel had gone through her portal and she was falling through a world where everything was liquid and floating and flowing in the air. She noticed her body was becoming liquid as well. She quickly opened another portal below her and escaped. Her body returned to normal. However, her descent didn’t stop. She continued to fall but this time her body was being stretched apart.

Fuck I’ve gotta open another portal. She was panicking a little. She hadn’t had too unexplorable dimensions back to back. The downside to interdimensional travel is the mana required is a decent amount. She quickly opened a portal once more. This time she was floating upwards into a sun which burned everything it touched. She opened a portal again.

This time she was inside the deep sea and a being of seemingly infinite size was quickly approaching her. It had tentacles and was quickly swimming towards her. Before it was able to consume her she looked to the sky and realized it was all water and no above water. She opened a final portal in desperation. She was on ground once more, her typical confidence was gone. She was afraid she didn’t have enough mana to open another portal whatever this dimension was she had to survive in until her mana came back. Water had followed her out of the portal.

The ground was gray; it held little to no life within. There were sections of what looked to be caves everywhere. With a large opening in the center. It seemed like it was a naturally formed colosseum and she was in one of the inner rings. Above was only more of the lifeless gray material the colosseum had seemingly no end. Her breathing wasn’t steady, it was a little erratic. She then looked towards the center and suddenly there was something there. Or perhaps it was always there and she had only just now perceived it. It grew larger and taller. Eventually it became the only thing she could see if she looked towards the middle. Despite being so large it was silent it made no noise as it moved. The being that existed before her was terrifyingly majestic. The more she attempted to understand the less it made sense.

Vel attempted to summon a rain of elemental attack magic that was far stronger than anything she used on the primordials. The magic seemed to enter the being’s body but never hit its mark. The being only observed the magic that rained upon it. It had seemingly no discernible weakness or physical body to hit. Suddenly without warning it looked at a section of the colosseum and that section vanished. Suddenly there was warm light and she saw another person exit through a portal somewhat similar to her own. Only for that person to attempt to attack the being and go through it. As they passed through it, their life was sapped away. Their body began to shrivel and wither before they disappeared into nothing.

She did not know if seeing the being filled her with fear as the feeling was unlike anything she felt before. She smiled, yet she didn’t know why she did.

It’s immune to magic and it randomly decides whether it wants to erase something. I’m at the being’s whim whether I survive this ordeal. Why did I get so unlucky on portal destinations? I refused to perish here. What can I do except wait for my mana to come back. It’s dangerous here and I just have to survive. I mustn't attempt to touch it, lest I want to end up like the first other inter dimensional traveler I saw. I won't forget your sacrifice, thank you for the valuable info, random person. Vel was pondering how to survive when suddenly her instincts screamed at her to climb upwards. She followed her instincts and suddenly a wave of the being flowed through the area she was in which absorbed the little amount of life it had left.

This was by far the most dangerous situation Vel was in, there would be no miracles to save her this time. She remembered the time she escaped Magiem and got lucky and escaped with her inter dimensional portal. After climbing higher to try and get as far as possible from the creature. She saw a wave go through a higher area. Which prevented her passage. Vel attempted to break the wall using a magically enhanced kick. However the moment she made contact with the wall her enhancement was nullified. Though despite her magic being nullified her kick was still well above human levels. However, it didn’t even chip the wall.

“Durable magic proof walls behind and death in front. Mama ain’t raise no bitch, but she ain’t prepare me for this. I’ve got to survive to see her again and I refuse to disappoint her.” Vel muttered, thankfully it didn’t do anything in response. Suddenly she thought of a good idea.

I can just escape into the pocket dimension right? Then regain my magic from there. That’ll be perfect then it won’t be able to reach me. She opened a portal in front of her and thankfully it was a little bit away from her as the moment it appeared the creature slashed away that part of land and the portal’s magic was canceled.

Fuck, that was my last hope at a clean survival. So it reacts to magic if it’s strong enough. Or it only reacts to certain types of magic. It didn’t react to my portal magic or that helpful unfortunate soul. What am I going to do?
