The opponents were humanoid so Vel didn’t think she would have to work hard. However, when Vel blocked a punch, it had way more force behind it than she thought. It knocked her back into the ship mast, though the mast wasn’t even cracked. Aluun had never seen Vel get knocked back like that before. Vel didn’t take any damage from the clash but she was surprised by the strength of the attack. Vel stood back up and dusted herself off. Her opponent oddly didn’t seem surprised by her lack of injury. He drew his sword which had a curved blade. It looked like the typical curved sword, but Vel readied herself in case it had any tricks.
The man stepped in towards Vel and went to stab her. She dodged and nailed a right hook on his jaw. He instantly went down after the hit connected. Which surprised the rest of the crew. “I guess that still works even on these superhuman types. But man that hurt.” Vel had a little bruise form on her knuckles from the hit. She healed it with magic which surprised the crew. They all gasped when they saw a light heal her wound.
“She’s a sorceress!” One of them shouted.
“I thought sorceresses were physically weak.” One of the men said afraid. While most of the crew members were distracted by Vel. One took the opportunity to take Aluun hostage. They held a sword to her throat.
“Surrender or this one dies!” The man orders. Vel glared at him and she manifested a tiny raindrop on top of him to distract him. “It’s clear out? Where did that water come from?” He looked upward, confused for a moment. His crew attempted to warn him, but Vel had already gotten too close. She grabbed his wrist and moved the sword away from Aluun’s neck before kicking him in the gut to knock him off the boat. Vel then made herself and Aluun fly into the air. They went above the ship high into the air.
“Woah, so this is what it’s like to fly.” Said Aluun. “But why did you make us fly right now?” She wondered looking down at the ship. Vel manifested a ball of heat and flames. She sent the ball down onto the ship which then exploded into a ball of flames. Due to the black powder and. Alcohol in the hull. The flames continued to spread faster than they could put it out. Many began to jump off of the ship and head towards the dinghy. Unfortunately, for them Vel also made that combust. They cursed and jeered at her, but Vel just ignored them. She flew away with Aluun in a random direction hoping for land or a friendly Vessel.
After traveling through the sky enjoying the view of the water from above they spotted an island from a distance. It had a beach which Vel and Aluun landed on. The island was large with a mountain range further in. They sat on the grass in order to take a breather and figure out their next course of action. The weather was nice and clear and the smell of the water was pleasant.
“So what now? Most of the dimensions I’ve been to had normal cities and towns. Here you’ve got pirates that have similar absurd strength to you. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep up.” Aluun sighed, lowering her head. She contemplated whether she wanted to continue the journey with Vel or go off on her own.
“You’re right, my entire experience throughout my travels has been filled with danger. The danger makes things more fun though.” Vel laughed.
“You’re hopeless, I really am going to die if I stay with you for too long.” Aluun sighed. Vel’s response didn’t reassure her one bit. Vel was very danger prone but she was able to make it out alright because she was powerful. For someone like Aluun the constant threats weren’t appealing. She was very lucky but she was unsure if her luck would be enough to survive in the long term. She didn’t have any materials with which she could create anything. Vel was simply laughing and smiling without a care.
Suddenly, the island began to shake violently. The rumbling only grew more tremendous the more time passed. Then just as suddenly as it came it stopped. However, something began to climb from below. A massive hand appeared from somewhere inside of the mountain range. Then another hand, they gripped the mountains to pull themself up. It revealed a massive giant with muscles all over its body. The giant had long white hair and once it stood atop of the mountain it yelled.
“Uh Vel would you be able to beat that or should we run?” Aluun asked, concerned about their situation.
“One giant shouldn’t be a big deal. With my magic it’ll be easy.” Vel confidently replied. Right when she said that another giant hand started to climb out and pirates began to sail towards them. The pirate flag was similar to the ship she destroyed. “I think we should escape.” Vel said as she began opening a portal only for the portal to dissipate before it fully formed. “That’s odd, my magic isn’t working. Either the pirates or the giants have something that cancels magic. Does your device work?” Vel looked towards Aluun. Aluun attempted to activate her device, but it shattered. It had been sniped by one of the pirates. “Go hide somewhere I’ll take care of this.” Aluun quickly hid inside of a cave and made it to a section where she was a far distance away but there was a section she could see out of.
The pirates came towards the island on a fleet of dinghies; they all looked ready to fight and kill Vel. Vel did some stretches and cracked her knuckles. She was in it for the long haul. “They’ve got something that can cancel magic, if I can get rid of it then we can escape. The problem is that I don’t know what it looks like. Another problem is the two giants, that are probably not friendly. Vel grabbed some rocks on the shore and threw them at a pirate’s head with a lot of force.
The small stone completely destroyed the pirate’s head upon impact. Vel kept throwing at the incoming pirates. The pirates had no shields so they were completely defenseless towards the long ranged attacks. The pirate grunts were killed off one by one. She easily got rid of the sniper that destroyed the device. However, the same could not be said about the upper tier pirates. They used their sword to cut through the stones that flew towards them.

The giants had begun their descent towards the chaos that was happening by the beach. Which caused Vel to sigh, she didn’t want to deal with pirates and giants at the same time. While she was looking at the giants, some pirates managed to get onto the beach and began running towards her. Vel grabbed a decently sized stick that was in the shape of a pole. “This will have to do for now.” She patiently awaited the pirates' arrival while keeping an eye on the progress of the giants. The first to arrive were the pirates of course, who came in groups of four. One of each group was clearly stronger than the rest. They were also bigger than the others.
They slashed at Vel, but they were far too slow to hit her. Though if she was hit she would likely lose a limb, so she still had to be careful. She dodged and weaved between the attacks of the pirates by a hair’s breadth. She was in the middle of the pirates and used her stick to redirect the strong pirate’s sword into his own comrades. She repeated it twice more to get rid of the lackeys. The pirate didn’t even flinch while killing his allies, instead only kept trying to hit Vel to no avail. He gave up attempting to slash at her with his sword, he sheathed his blade and attempted to rush in and punch Vel. However, she dodged his punch and drew his sword and pierced through his neck. She kicked him off of the sword’s blade and began to hunt the pirates using her stolen sword. The pirates' moves had force, but little technique behind them. They were like children randomly swinging a stick around to Vel.
Once she had slaughtered all of the pirates that had made it to shore. The once pristine beach was littered by corpses and boats. Though she had slaughtered many pirates there seemed to be no end to them. They had an overwhelming amount of numbers. The giants were finally within range of attacking Vel and more pirates were on the way. “This is kinda annoying, slaughtering all of them would not be a big deal if I could use magic. Aluun can’t do anything and they are all coming after me. I’m really glad mom trained me in magicless combat otherwise we would’ve been dead the moment the pirates arrived.” Vel mercilessly slaughtered any pirate in range. The giants had begun to attack any human they could see including the pirates.
Vel hid away to get a breather while the giants slaughtered the pirates. However, it didn’t last long as a purple wave of light hit the giants. The light came from the pirate ship. The giants stopped slaughtering the pirates and began to search for Vel. “Was that magic? They can use magic but I can’t, that’s not fair.” Vel complained. A pirate found her and alerted the giants to her location. She slit his throat with a quick swing of her sword. It was too late and the giants began to rush her. They stepped on a few pirates along the way. She kept to the face of a giant then stabbed both of its eyes. She then cut open the giant by stabbing a sword into the skin and riding down. She grabbed swords from the fallen pirates and threw them at the giants’ chests. Where she believed their hearts to be. The giants fell back and they stopped moving, seemingly dead.
Unfortunately, out of the chest a boney fist shot out. For both giants a giant skeleton emerged from the corpse. The skeletons then threw their flesh at Vel which she dodged. However, she was struck from behind as the empty mounds of flesh were moving. They were being puppeteered by their skeleton. Vel was launched towards the skeletons and struck once more but this time she blocked. Though she wasn’t unscathed due to the boney body of the giant skeletons. Vel’s heart rate rose and her blood was quickly pumping throughout her body. She was being beaten hard by the giants. The pirates weren’t an issue by themselves. However, their numbers never seethed. She was stabbed and sliced at a couple times before killing the pirates nearby. She was losing some blood from the open wounds.
“You fuckin bastards are so annoying.” Vel yelled. Her eyes glowed an amber color and her hair’s amber highlights revealed themself. She punched away some pirates and they were sent all the way to one of the pirate ships. Vel ran towards the skeletons and she charged up a punch and then released it. The skeletons were obliterated from the impact of the punch. Something on a pirate ship exploded and Vel noticed she had her magic back. The blow that obliterated the skeletons were enhanced by overwhelming raw magical energy. “That’s more like it! It seems that by tapping into mother’s blood my magical energy was too much to be suppressed by whatever thing they were using. Vel smirked, as she summoned an abhorrent amount of magically power to create a massive tornado of flames over the water.
The pirate captain as well as a sorceress on board stared at the tornado in utter disbelief. The fiery death quickly sucked them inside and their boat was swallowed then burned to ash within the tornado. The pirates could only watch as they were consumed by the flames. Once Vel could see no more pirates alive she dissipated the tornado of flames. It disappeared as suddenly as it came it left mass amounts of destruction in the small amount of time it was around.
Aluun who had watched that whole thing go down from the safety of a cave was in utter disbelief. Vel was even stronger than she thought. Especially when she can use her magic. She quickly went over to Vel who yawned, it had been a while since she exerted herself so much. Her body felt sore, despite her body adapting to the blood in her body it still has a rough after effect. Vel sat down laying her back against a wall, she healed her wounds luckily nothing was too deep to leave a scar. “That was far more of a pain than I was expecting.” She sighed.
“You good?” Aluun asked Vel.
“Yeah I’ll be alright, just feeling a little tired.” Vel replied.
“I’ve heard of magic spells, but what you did was on a completely different level. Last I checked punching with raw magical power doesn’t usually do anything. I guess the amount you have is really just that absurd.” Aluun was shocked by what she had witnessed. “Well take a break, I don't think anyone is left alive from that. Even if they were, I doubt they would want to mess with you.” Aluun chuckled, as Vel passed out from exhaustion.
A few pirates who were on their way to the scene turned back upon seeing the destruction the flame tornado caused. They would begin to spread tales of the annihilation of the legendary pirate group. All thanks to a sole young sorceress who was far more powerful than any that came before her.
That sorceress was casually sleeping by the beach that was riddled with corpses and blood stains. The sight was disgusting to Aluun. “How can she sleep so peacefully, after killing so many and leaving so many corpses nearby. I don’t think I’ll ever understand her.”
