Vel yawned after she woke up from her long nap. The next day was already upon her and Aluun was already up and awake. “I see that you’re awake, luckily it doesn’t seem like there were any reinforcements. Or anyone else that came to this island.” Aluun said while looking down at Vel. She had just been exploring the island while Vel slept. “I think we were just unlucky with landing on this island. It seems like this place has a portal to the giant’s realm in the mountains.” She sighed. “Where to now? I can’t do much on my own right now. So I’m relying on you for now. This island doesn’t seem to have a human civilization either.”
Vel got up from the ground where she had slept and contemplated her next move. This place has items that counter magic and I’m not sure if the boost from using my blood would be enough to overpower all of them. It also exhausts my body so if we were to be ambushed by these superhuman pirates then I’m afraid our journey would be cut short. Vel thought about the possibilities and in the end she decided it would be better to move to a different world. She grabbed her journal from her pocket dimension and wrote about this world. The name revealed itself to be Erde on her page. Once she finished writing the entry which included warnings about the anti magic and annoying giants. She closed the journal and returned it to the pocket dimension. “I wanna keep moving and this doesn’t seem like a place I want to stay in too long.” Vel made her choice by opening a portal that would lead them to the next world.
The two walked through, Aluun was hoping for a safer world. Vel was fine with anywhere so long as it didn’t have anti magic. The two made it through but Aluun’s face began to change color. Vel noticed the change and immediately casted a protective barrier around her. Vel already had one on that she subconsciously put on. Aluun gasped for air and her face’s color returned. “Vel where did you take us? I couldn’t breathe at all before you did your magic.”
“It seems we’ve ended up in a world without air. That’s the second time that’s happened. Thankfully I made a protective barrier around you otherwise I was going back to being solo.”
“A WORLD WITHOUT AIR! NOT TO MENTION THE SECOND TIME???? I can’t, Vel please drop me off at the next habitable dimension. I will actually die if I stay with you.” Aluun was done. She didn’t believe she would survive staying with Vel any longer. She knew Vel was strong but also understood that Vel wasn’t invincible. She would only be a burden if they kept going to the dimensions that Vel visits.
Vel opened a new portal and maneuvered both of them through it. This new place was a green forest, but strangely instead of trees it was mushrooms. Tall and massive mushrooms surrounded them from all sides. The mushrooms, along with their size, also had faces. They were incredibly unsettling to Aluun. She wanted safety and comfortability, but the mushrooms did not offer that.
Whispers echoed around them from unknown sources. “Eek, I don’t like this place. Can we go to a different world please.” Aluun begged Vel.
“Sure why not.” Vel said, as she began to open a portal. However, a sudden yellow cloud was blown into her face by one of the mushrooms. Which caused Vel to fall forwards and fall asleep. The sudden drop spooked Aluun, she immediately went to check for a pulse and luckily it was there. “Thank goodness, she’s only asleep.” She breathed a sigh of relief as she began dragging Vel’s unconscious body. She could not lift Vel, but she didn’t want to leave her only way out behind.
Around her were endless amounts of faced mushrooms. However, they only had expressionless eyes which were eerie in their own way. They seemed alive, just lifeless. She continuously dragged Vel’s unconscious body through the forest of mushrooms. The ground didn’t even leave a scratch on her body.
Eventually, they made it to a clearing with open air clearly visible. Once she got as far as she could from the creepy mushrooms, she sat down to relax and take a breather. “Muuuh-shrooooom!” Many voices echoed from the forest of mushrooms. Aluun noticed that the sun was setting and it was becoming dark.
“They become active at night. Great…” She muttered. She noticed a wooden pole with a sharp stone attached to it on the ground near her. “Someone must’ve abandoned their weapon. Which means it’s not a good idea to stay here. I’ll take their weapon just in case though.” Aluun grabbed the spear and continued to drag Vel by her leg. While she headed further and further away from the mushroom forest. It had become more active and she felt satisfied by her decision to keep moving.
By the time she couldn’t move anymore, night had fallen and she was in an open field with a few normal looking trees around. Aluun laid down on her back exhausted. “Vel please wake up, this place sucks. I dragged you through rough ass terrain and you still have shown any signs of waking up.” Aluun wanted out of this strange world. She had expressed her complaints aloud which caught the attention of a nearby woman.
The woman had long unsaturated light green hair and light burgundy colored eyes. She was wearing a brown dress with a red belt wrapped around her waist. “Those are quite the complaints. I assume the sleeping one inhaled some spores from the mushroomites.” She spoke with a soft and friendly tone of voice. The woman’s sudden appearance startled Aluun. However, she was too tired to do anything about it.
“Hey, how about I take you and your friend to my place. I’ll lift her with wind magic. She’ll be out for at least another day or two. So I wouldn’t recommend staying out here in the wilderness.” The woman said with a smile. After Aluun nodded her head, the woman manifested wind underneath Vel and lifted her.

“Oh, you use chantless magic like Vel. She told me it wasn’t common. You must be reliable then.” Aluun smiled. The woman and Aluun walked together while Vel floated alongside them. They walked through the grassy fields and eventually they made it to a cottage. It was a decent sized building. It had a brown roof and white walls with wooden planks aesthetically placed around.
After they made it inside, the woman put Vel onto a coach. Aluun sat down in a chair next to Vel. The woman offered Aluun some food which she accepted. It was some soup which she had been preparing. Aluun happily slurped it down and after talking with the woman for a bit. Aluun fell asleep in the chair near Vel. Vel was still sound asleep.
The woman grabbed a syringe and pricked Vel’s wrist and drew blood. She then used healing magic to get rid of the wound. “Another chantless caster, interesting. I believe this blood might’ve been what I’ve been searching for.” She smiled with glee, as she looked at the syringe. She emptied the contents of the syringe into a vial. She stashed the vial in a hidden pocket underneath her belt. She felt an odd sensation emanating from the blood vial. She wanted to consume it immediately but she wanted to wait until her guests had left.
Awoken by the smell of food, Vel woke up the next day during lunch time. “Hmmm, where am I? I remember opening a portal, but after that everything goes blank.” She muttered. The smell of meat being cooked danced its way into her nostrils. She got up and walked towards the smell. The culprit was boar meat being cooked over a fire. “That smells good.” She said, which surprised the green haired woman.
“Oh you’re awake, you were passed out due to mushroomite spores.” She said surprised at first but regained her composure. She wasn’t expecting her guest to awaken until at least nightfall or the next day. Which means she couldn’t collect any more blood from her. There was something different and unusual about the blood. It was so mysterious, yet also enticing.
After the food was ready Aluun had returned back from taking a nice relaxing walk outside. She couldn’t find any other humans where they were. She also wondered why the person they did see was able to understand them. Usually, there is a language barrier which Aluun would quickly overcome by spending some time learning the language. Yet she already knew the language that this woman spoke. But she couldn’t remember which language it was. She had learned many languages while in the prison so it may have been from there.
Later at night, the woman was observing the vial of blood. She undid the top and smelled the blood. The blood had power inside of it that was beyond any other she had ever felt. She wanted to ingest it as soon as possible, but it didn’t seem like her guests were going to leave very soon.
Vel was walking through the house and while she was inside of the basement she smelled something rotting. It was a foul smell but one she recognized after a couple whiffs. “I smell dried blood.” She commented, as she walked towards where it was coming from. She pressed on part of the wall and it opened. It was a secret door that led to somewhere. She closed the door behind her and walked down the stairs where the scent of blood was coming from. She made a small flame to use as a light source
Once she made it all the way down she found where the blood scent was coming from. All around the floor and walls were magic circles made with blood. Further down the room were what looked to be dungeon cells. Which had blood splattered around the cells. “She must be a blood witch. It’s not safe for Aluun here. I don't know what she’ll do. I have to make a quick exit before she finds me down here.” Vel then attempted to quickly go up the stairs but she heard footsteps in the basement. She flew down the stairs and hid herself underneath the stairs. She used her hands and legs to keep herself in place.
Like Vel thought the witch had begun her descent down the stairs. She was humming as she walked down the stairs. Vel controlled her breathing so as to not alert the witch of her presence. “If just this small amount of blood I collected from that mage has this much power. I should just keep her here and constantly drain her and replenish her. I can’t let her leave.” The witch said.
After waiting for a while the witch eventually went back up stairs and through the hidden door. Vel then left as well making sure she wouldn’t be caught. She had to grab Aluun and go. She quickly went to the top floor where Aluun was but by exiting the basement so hastily she had alerted the witch.
Vel made it to Aluun’s room. “Aluun we gotta get out of here. This woman is a blood witch and I don’t think I would like to be her labrat.” Vel told Aluun. The witch had made her way to the room and just stared at Vel and Aluun.
“I’m afraid I can’t let you go.” The witch drank the vial of Vel’s blood. Vel tried to make a portal but the magic was canceled and her body was frozen stiff. “By consuming someone’s blood I can use magic to control their body. Which means I can prevent you from escaping. You’ll be here forever.” The woman laughed.
“This feeling of power is incredible.” She said as her body was being filled by magic power. She was becoming more powerful by the second. She was being filled by magical energy. She was being filled more and more and more and more and more. However, it was too much and the blood in her body began to boil. The blood was bubbling underneath her skin. She lost her concentration and Vel could move again. “It burns! It burns! It burns! It burns! It burns! It burns! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!” She screamed in anguish as her blood was boiling her alive and the magical energy being generated was pushing its way outward.
Vel made a barrier to protect herself and Aluun. The woman’s body exploded and the magical energy kept expanding and expanding. It destroyed everything in its path. Except for the barrier that Vel setup. The whole place was engulfed in a bright yellow light. When Vel and Aluun could see again they were in the middle of a massive crater. The entire landmass they were on was completely destroyed. They couldn’t see any land in the distance; it was all destroyed. The only land they could see was far down below.
Vel quickly made a portal and they both went through. They were in a city but it was all white buildings. There were flying cars and robots everywhere. “This is more like it. All this technology is incredible. Vel just leave me here whenever you decide to continue with your journey.” Aluun said.
