Big fish live in deep water

Big fish live in deep water

I think I got it.

The system could barely change the naga since her folklore is very detailed which is why it's personality was changed to that of a Glutton so that she eats as many people as possible.

The lady of summer was less detailed in her tale so it made her a babrian ready for battle so that she can end as many people as possible.

The idiot naga was currently clinging to my arm with a sceptical look on her face.

It's not like I can't understand her, I usually wouldn't easily trust a witch but there's few things that can threaten me so I'm confident.

Said witch was leading us through a forest which I'm sure she littered with illusions because I'm sure trees don't usually move.

Amnesia nullified

Judging by the nagas, I should give her a name, confused face her mind is probably being triffeld with.

I can't make out any details related to the witch, her height, hair color, eye color, skin tone or her mannerisms. I only know that she has a voice to high for a man.

Why did I decide to follow her? Well, to be honest if you're familiar with human psychology you will know once the people recover from the shock and regain their common sense chaos will break out. Factions will form, leaders will be chosen and enemies will be condemned.

Far to little people realise that those 'civilised people' are only being held back by three things. Family, law and religion those are what keep your average Joe from taking an axe and giving his boss Mark what he deserves. And sometimes those three things aren't enough, so what will happen if two are gone?

As a species there's only a few things better at killing people than people and none of them can be found here in middle europe. Even in folklore as long your smart enough to stay out of trouble you'll be fine, but it doesn't matter how smart you are it won't stop another human from bashing your head in.

If I stayed there I'll be the biggest fish there, and the biggest fish are always fried. That's why I'll be bunkering down with the witch, I wish anyone trying to find me the best of luck to get through what's probably baba yaga's frontyard.

As long they aren't immune to mindflaying, if they are I want them as far away as possible. Well, she probably invited me in the first place so I can take care of anyone who is resistant to the forest's effects. So basically becoming a witches servant, pretty sure there's a word for that.

I am extreme for normal human standards but there's a reason for that. The system made me younger and probably gave me levels based on the life I lived. So what about seniors who were older than me? Teachers and professors would probably have wisdom based classes but some might be spellcasters or brewers (still unsure what that's supposed to be). What about martial arts masters or war veterans? Wouldn't they all be stronger than me? If they all also became and also got a class and levels based on their lifes then yes, I would be weak against them.

Then isn't this the perfect opportunity? I could simply train in the heart of the forest and regain my prime.

Alexander der Große, Herr des Höllen Rings. (Alexander the Great, Lord of the hell ring)

That whas the title I had gotten when I went big as a underground fighter. It would be a shame to let such a title rust in a dusty corner, right?

"We're here."

I still couldn't make out any details about her voice other than that it couldn't belong to a man.

We arrived at a clearing with a home to small to be a house but too big to be a hud on a small hill. It had a building attached to it which was to big to be a shed but to small to be a stall. On the side of the hill there is a fresh water spring, whis is suspiciously convenient.

"Let's go inside, do you want some tea or spirits?"

Spirits? Like the deceased? No, use the context here Alexander.

"It's to late for tea."

A simple response that let's me seem simple minded. The witch seems to agree as she nods her head whilst she keeps on walking. The inside of the hud is rather cozy, multiple rooms, a lot herbs and pans yet spacious.

"Make yourselves at home."

I entered the hud and took of my boots just then did I notice something from the fight against the wendigo that send chills down my spine.

It tried to damage my archylies tendon, the longest nerve in the human body. That thing had knowledge about autonomy, which means the system can also make them smarter which is... troubling.

Not just that but it could give them specific knowledge.

The witch put a glass bottle on the table and then took three glasses. I sat down at the table and watched as she poured three glasses, I noticed how she spun the bottle whilst pouring her own glass but didn't say anything.

I took a sip.

Ah, this is Branntwein. It's considered a cheap wine but it has a warm taste to it and doesn't give you a hard time standing after three glaces. As a diagnosed alcoholic it reminds me when I tried out all the different kinds of liquor. I probably can't get drunk though, my liver is probably made of bedrock.

Branntwein, an old hag and a snake. All I'm missing is a mouse and a duck to have the oldest German pun known to man right infront of me.

We chatted, though we didn't, this illusion stuff is kind creeping me out.

"You drank a lot, you can't go back like that. Come, you can spend the night here."

The naga, who I decided to name Melanie, pulled my arm beckoning me to follow. Though I'm still confused from where all the glasses came from I followed nonetheless.

The witch led us to a room that reminded me of a stall, there's even dry hey and tools in here.

"It's not the most comfortable but I it's better than outside."

Melanie nodded at the witches words and before I could inspect the bed of hey closer the witch called out to me.

"Give me your shirt, I'll fix it for you."

I had a somewhat surprised look on my face as I handed her my shirt.

I noticed how she needed a few seconds to look away.

And thus I slept on a bed of hey without a shirt on and a clingy naga. Who thankfully isn't so focused on eating me anymore.
