33. It Was A Twilight Skill Indeed

Baldwin nodded and said. "Elder Calder, what you're saying is that Lynn may have something to hide from us?"

"Yes."

"Hmm, I noticed that, yesterday, he also said that his father had asked the highest ranked conveyor of their clan to help him create his essence crystal two months ago, but during this morning trance, he said his tribe was wiped out by the antherions, four months ago. Isn't this inconsistent?"

Calder looked at the faint light on Lynn's side and said. "Well. I'm afraid that what he said this morning is true. But when he said that he escaped the catastrophe in the end, it simply caught my attention. I believe there's a secret to this."

"That's my thoughts too, master. " Baldwin added. "Something must have happened to him in these past two months. More importantly, there must be someone else who not only saved his life, but also helped him create his essence crystal."

Calder nodded thoughtfully. "Yes, that's the only way it could make sense. I'm afraid his method of harnessing ether has something to do with this master. I believe he's not telling us because he just arrived here and still has some scruples about us. I think, when he gets used to us later, he might say it himself."

"You're right, master."

"Hmm." Calder glanced at Baldwin and said, "In the future, you have to take good care of his daily life. Moreover, he's also a hard worker."

Baldwin gave a nod and courtesy to Calder. "Please don't worry, master. I will go to the main center of our school tomorrow to check the archives to see if there have been similar methods used before. For this strange skill, its better to understand it, so that we don't make any mistakes when it comes to his attributes."

"Yes, you're right." Calder nodded and said. "Take this with you. If you can't find the information you need at the main center, take it to the Alcoves. See if there are any relevant records in the historical materials there."

After speaking, Calder handed Baldwin a serpentine pendant. A wyvern was carved in the hollow on the pendant, and the word "Alcoves" was engraved in the middle of it. The whole piece of this pendant was glowing faintly. It was obviously not an ordinary item.

Baldwin knew that this was a special token from the Alcoves, so he agreed and quickly took it with both hands. This kind of token could only be held by the Alcoves masters and elders. With this token, no one dared to stop anyone from entering or leaving the Alcoves.

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

The Alcoves was a sacred place for storing essence crystals of fallen masters. Every city on the continent had a branch of the Alcoves.

After a high-level conveyor died for whatever reason, the local academy would send another essence master to collect and deliver the dead master's essence crystal to the academy, and would be stored in the city's Alcoves's vault.

If the essence crystal level exceeded the silver level, the Alcoves would send an elder to escort it to the main hall of the City's Alcoves where the king was located, so as not to be stolen by the antherions. For the antherions, essence crystals were treasures for quickly leveling their essence power.

Therefore, if there was no special reason, the Alcoves would never allow anyone to enter or leave the vault casually. After all, without true detection, it would be difficult to tell if a high-level antherions had transformed into a human form. And if there were antherions in human form, allowed to enter the Alcoves, it would cause immeasurable losses.

The light spots of ether in Lynn's room lasted for an hour before disappearing without a trace.

Afterwards, master Baldwin and elder Calder nodded to each other.

"As expected, it is only during the twilight that he harnesses ether. Tell other students that during this period of time, they must practice in the chambers. No one is allowed to leave his or her hut."

"Yes, master." Baldwin agreed, and the two figures disappeared in a flash.

Autumn was crisp, and the weather in the north was always of four distinct seasons. Although the sun was high in the sky, spreading dazzling white light over the land, there was no dry feeling or high temperature at all. It was late autumn of November. The people only felt incomparably refreshed.

Although the city was big, the forests and huge ancient trees in the city could still be seen from the distance. In modern terms, the green area would definitely be above seventy percent in comparison to occupied areas.

Baldwin walked down the wide street, looking at the autumn scenery on the side of the road, the red leaves were all over the sky, some yellow leaves were falling, the green leaves were dancing lightly in the wind which was blowing on his face, making him feel very comfortable.

After breakfast, Baldwin gave Lynn and the other five students a simple basic class instructions and practices, and then explained the arrangements for each students to carry out in the next few days. During this period, they had to study hard on their own.

Then he left the branch, and with the previous day's concerns in his mind, he went to the main center of the Profound Academy.

The gate of the school was always imposing to the eyes, and he could feel the thickness and majesty of this old but famous school from the distance. The incredibly tall gatehouse was covered with blue glazed tiles, as if inlaid with sapphire, deeper than the sky.

Below the gatehouse were carved beams and painted buildings, which were beautiful in shape and exquisitely painted with lifelike figures, flowers and birds.

Four huge columns painted in red color served as supports underneath. Between the columns were three pairs of huge gates. The middle pair was the largest, seven or eight meters in height, with smaller doors on both sides.
