Chapter 641

Chapter 641:

He admitted that he owed Allison for the mess he had created, but his mother? She didn’t deserve to be dragged into the fallout.

A pause filled the air before he asked, more sharply, “Where did you get the money to bail me out?”

“It was from the shares Keanu… gave up,” she said carefully. “But… he said we’re no longer involved with him.” Colton’s world seemed to crumble.

Keanu — was he heartless enough to cut all ties, all because of a divorce?

Melany watched him closely, her expression unreadable. She had already moved some of Keanu’s shares into her possession. She had plans to walk away with them — whether he realized it or not.

“Oh, and Lindy… she saw Allison and Mr. Lloyd together, holding hands. It made her so angry, her headache got even worse,” Melany said innocently. “Maybe that’s why Allison is holding a grudge against us.”

Colton stiffened, his jaw tightening as the information sank in. He rubbed his temples, frustration threatening to spill over. “That… doesn’t make sense.”

Without another word, he reached for his phone.

Three calls to Allison went unanswered. Realization hit him — she had blocked him ages ago. There was only one person left to turn to: Kellan.

Meanwhile, Allison was being gently placed on the sofa by Kellan. He was untying the thin rope around her ankle, each strand slipping free with careful precision.

Ding!

The phone on the coffee table buzzed relentlessly, the screen lighting up with Colton’s name.

Allison sighed, exasperated. “It’s probably some mess he wants to drag me into. Just hang it up.”

But Kellan didn’t. He paused, glancing at her with a knowing look before answering the call. He supported her waist with one arm, holding her close, and placed the phone on speaker.

“What’s up?” he asked.

Colton didn’t waste time. “Is Allison with you?”

Kellan’s lips hovered near Allison’s ear, his breath warm against her skin.

“Who she’s with is none of your business. You’re her ex, remember?”

“Her ex?” Colton’s voice on the other end of the line was edged with laughter, though his anger was unmistakable. Despite the failed marriage, at least he’d been her husband once. But Kellan? What was he to her? Clenching his teeth, Colton shot back, his tone sharpening, “Mr. Lloyd, put Allison on the phone.”

Allison saw that Kellan wasn’t accidentally ignoring Colton; he was doing it on purpose. She wrapped her arms around his neck, her fingers tracing over his chest in light, teasing circles. When their eyes met, Kellan’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he held her gaze.

“Allison’s busy. She can’t take your call,” he said smoothly, his hand shifting slightly on her waist. His embrace was warm and reassuring, like a silent vow. Kellan’s gaze grew dark and unreadable. “If you have something to say, I can pass it along.”
