Facing the desert head once more Ron looked around and saw no one around him, he opened the wish store to see if he was far away enough from the town and noticed that he indeed was. Ron took out the Whip of Alchemy and wished for it to be upgraded to the Vampire Killer. A magic circle appeared underneath Ron’s feet, Ron was a little surprised at the sudden development there never was a need for a magic circle before.
A voice sounded in Ron’s head, it was an elderly gentleman's voice. ‘All becomes one in infinity. The tainted soul joins his. Undesired and cursed soul, his blood accepts your hatred for the power to slay your kind’. The whip glowed as the words were spoken in Ron’s head, he wondered whose voice it was when he remembered the whip was made by an alchemist named Rinaldo was that his voice?
It also meant if Ron had proper knowledge about magic circles and a tainted yet willing soul he wouldn’t have needed to use wish points, it meant that any wish was capable without wish points and the wish points were just used as a substitute. Really with proper knowledge about certain subjects one could minimise the amount of wish points necessary for their goals, one could brew potions with just wishing for the ingredients instead of buying the potion directly. Of course the risk of failing was there with the previous method.
It made Ron think about his future and admittingly his lack of special crafting type jobs like alchemy, blacksmithing, etc. Having knowledge and skill in those types of fields could make it so Ron would need less wish points for his goals. Before coming to the tower Ron worked a simple office job and didn’t work much with his hands so he had no experience in any job. Ron thought about what job might work best for him however his knowledge on these types of jobs was just too shallow so he needed to know what type of jobs there all were.
Spending 7,500 wish points for upgrading the whip left Ron with 4,500 wish points, Ron wondered if he should get something else for these points. He decided to look at the next upgrade for the Vampire Killer; currently it was still a leather whip however Ron knew the next step was to replace the leather with chains.
Vampire Killer (Chains) costs 10,000 wish points: ‘A legendary whip wielded by the Belmont clan in order to defeat Dracula. Upgraded from the Vampire Killer (Leather), this chain whip can do massive damage to creatures of darkness. Only a Belmont descendant can wield this whip without suffering severe consequences. (Can be upgraded see list) ('That's going some time') Ron thought seeing the 10,000 points price tag, Ron managed to score a 10,000 wish points reward from the dungeon however that was only because he had a perfect counter to the evil spirit. Without that counter Ron wouldn’t have even entered the dungeon.
Ron couldn’t upgrade his weapon so he started to think about his other weapon, his body. Ron hadn’t trained much thus he didn’t obtain much tinder however his power was still progressing fast due to the potion and bloodline. Using these types of boosts was very expensive on his wish points, but the results were worth it. Ron's choices were either a body forging potion or using points on fortitude so he could use the kindling state longer.
('Maybe discuss this with Scarlett first') Scarlett was more experienced than him in training the body so her advice was worth a lot. As he was thinking about Scarlett, an explosion suddenly appeared right next to him. Ron was so surprised that he couldn't even activate the kindling state to dodge an incoming arm. The arm wrapped around his neck and forcefully pulled him in, Ron didn't know who attacked him all of a sudden but was not going to go down without a fight. Wanting to activate the kindling state and escape the hold Ron stopped when the figure suddenly spoke.
"Well, it seems you've gotten a little bit stronger than the last time I saw you" a familiar female voice suddenly spoke out from the dust and sand.
"Scarlett!?" Ron said in a shocked and surprised tone of voice, soon he could see the trademarked long red hair along with her green eyes.
"Bingo! Surprised to see me?" Scarlett said as she still held onto Ron in a one armed hug.
"A little, how did you find me so quickly?" Ron asked the obvious question on his mind as he struggled to escape her hug but failed nonetheless.
"Didn’t you give me this a little while ago? I still had it on me" Scarlett said as she pulled out his vivre card. He had given her that during his first dungeon trip in the kobolds cave and she still had it on her.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
"Ah, that makes sense. Now can you let go of me?" Ron said as she still held on.
"Aww, what’s wrong? Not used to having a pretty woman give you a hug?" Scarlett teased him by also throwing her other arm around him giving him a full bear hug.
"Sorry you’re not my type. You seem pretty jolly, I assume the dungeon went well for you?" Ron played along with her tease and noted her current mood.
"So you like the soft sister type eh? And yes the dungeon went very well, I managed to finally break the bottleneck" Scarlett answered Ron’s question and finally released him from the hug.
"How did it go for you?" Ron was interested in hearing her side of the story.
"Well I was stuck in two mazes for what felt like an eternity, I even tried to break the walls with no luck on that front" Scarlett explained her pain in the mazes, Ron managed to cheese on with a map he bought.
"The room with the four statues was easy. I could take all my frustrations out on them" Scarlett told Ron about the Anubis statues.
"Then the room with the symbols on the floor was just a brute force method, it tried to throw me into the wall however I’m made of sturdier material than that" Scarlett explained how she got through the room with the symbols by just tanking the damage, which was pretty on brand for her.
"Then in the next room was the corpse and the evil spirit. In the beginning it was easy but it gradually got harder, I wanted a good fight so I stalled it until it was fully coherent. Still it was not enough" Scarlett actually had given the spirit enough time to regain its intelligence.
"However I was surprised to see the spirit and to see it fleeing into the next room. I chased after it then I encountered a gauntlet, every corpse I killed the spirit grew more comfortable fighting me and as a result let me find some weaknesses of my own. My stamina was dwindling and my every move felt like it was being predicted, it was the perfect environment for my breakthrough" Scarlett confirmed Ron’s thoughts about the room with a hundred corpses.
"So what score did you get? And why do I not see any injuries on you?" Ron was curious about her score and if she did have a tough fight why he didn’t see any injuries.
"The dungeon healed me after I cleared it because I’m not a wishmaster, and my score was a B+ due to a slow time" Scarlett told Ron something new, those who were not wishmasters got healed after the dungeon. It made sense, one got wish points so the other had to get something just as good.
"Interesting, I suppose the healing wasn’t the only thing the dungeon gave you but that doesn't matter. I have also beaten the whole dungeon just now, yes even the gauntlet with the corpses. Although my version was a little different" Ron explained his version of events in the dungeon.
"So that’s what the secret was. Also you totally cheated during the fight, there is no way you could beat the corpse at your level" Scarlett didn’t believe Ron was able to beat the corpses.
"Want to find out?" Ron challenged her to fight.
"I’ve been waiting for those words since I came here" Scarlett accepted the challenge and got ready, she wasn’t going to underestimate Ron just because he was weaker than her the amount of times she got taken by surprise by him were already too many.
Ron got out Vampire Killer and got ready to strike, this would be the first time Ron had used the Vampire Killer in a fight. With an overhanded strike Ron started the fight yet to Scarlett it was strange, the distance was off and the whip didn’t reach had he misread the distance? Suddenly Ron pulled the whip up and a strike came from below, Scarlett put up a hasty guard and the whip flicked against her guard.
"Ugh" Scarlett grunted as the impact was much greater than she anticipated and she was lifted in the air. She wasn’t lifted very high thus Ron couldn’t jump like he did against the corpse however he could follow up differently, with a backhanded move the whip snaked around Scarlett her ankle and with a pull he slammed her into the ground. It was the first time he had gotten a clean hit in on Scarlett.
"Damn your talent with the whip improved that much?" Scarlett said as she got back up, with her recent breakthrough she wasn’t as annoyed as the previous times they sparred and Ron nearly got a hit in.
"Impressive no? Watch out I’m still warming up" Ron teased her as he decided to kick it up another notch by throwing out a barrage of whip strikes. Scarlett braced herself as she closely followed the whip, suddenly right in the middle Scarlett extended her hand and grabbed the whip. The whip felt like it had been caught by an iron grip, and Ron could feel himself getting pulled in.
With no other choice he activated the kindling state, with a ripple the kindling state activated and Ron quickly overpowered Scarlett and gained back his whip. Scarlett who had a surprised expression on her face also activated the kindling state however there was a difference in her state, she gained a red hue that wasn’t there before. Ron continued to strike with his whip however he couldn’t get a clean hit in, he suddenly felt something in his blood as he completely whiffed a strike like it wasn’t even aimed at Scarlett. Ron put up his hand and pushed the half extended whip right next to the handle, it altered the trajectory of the whip causing it to suddenly swing back towards Scarlett catching her off guard and hitting her side throwing her across the field.
Ron wasn’t going to let up and jumped up and started bombaring Scarlett from the air with whip strikes, Scarlett who had enough of being ragdolled suddenly moved and the whip went straight through her. "What the-" Ron didn’t expect the whip to suddenly go through her and scanned the field wanting to find her when he suddenly saw Scarlett in front of him. "Oh fu-" Was the last thing Ron said as he put up a hasty guard before it felt like a truck just slammed into it. His body flew and spun in the air as he hit the ground hard causing the air in his lungs to escape, wanting to get back up Ron tried to move before a shadow was covered over him with a fist ready to strike.
"I lost" Ron sighed out as he deactivated the kindling state.
"You lost due to a massive gap in power, if you were at the same level as me you could’ve won" Scarlett praised Ron. He had struck her cleanly multiple times and even exceeded her expectation, she could see now how he managed to beat the corpse and the spirit. Which left her with a startling realisation that he could fight above his level, she only ever heard something like that from her master.
