Ron continued to follow the bloody trail for 5 minutes while slowly walking. After a while Ron started frowning. ('I'm pretty sure I hit it in the head, shouldn't that be a fatal wound?') Ron found it strange it could still walk and seemingly far with a wound in the head.
('The wound must have been too shallow') Ron came to the conclusion after following the trail for another 5 minutes. Suddenly he heard a shriek from just up ahead.
*Growwwwwl* It sounded like the boar who Ron had fought with. Did it finally die? If so, why make that sound? Ron crouched to the ground and started to walk towards the sound.
After a bit Ron saw the boar dead on the ground however what stunned him more was the scene around the boar.
*ahahah* *grrr* A group of 5 green child-like creatures surrounded the dead boar seemingly dancing? Ron quickly hid behind a tree and continued to observe from afar. ('Are these what I think they are?') Ron thought after looking at the creatures they resembled an awful lot like the goblins from other fantasy series he's seen.
The goblins stopped dancing after a bit and 3 goblins worked together to pick up the heavy boar. After picking up the boar they started to walk away while the other 2 goblins were seemingly on the lookout looking around.
Ron had no ideas of attacking them if his bout with the boar was anything being heavily outnumbered and his enemy also having weapons if those daggers by their waist were any indication.
('For now let's follow them') Ron decided and slowly stalked them making sure to stay far away but not too far to lose them. Ron was interested to see where they were moving that boar to. Did they have a hideout? Were there more of them? These were all good questions.
Following for about 1 hour and just when Ron was about to get impatient and give up something changed. The trees became more sparse and actually started opening up.
Ron quickly moved from tree to tree and getting closer to the opening he was shocked once more.
It was the end of the forest from here on out there were only plains. And the small group of goblins were walking out in the open. But that wasn't the only shocking thing. Out in the distance Ron could see a wooden wall. It was a town and these goblins were walking right towards it.
*Ding* a sound rang in Ron's head. It scared him for a quick second before realizing it was the store giving him a message. Did I trigger an achievement? Ron opened the message and it was exactly that.
"CONGRATULATION YOU HAVE GAINED THE ACHIEVEMENT NAMED 'GOBLIN TRIBE' FOR FINDING A SMALL GOBLIN ESTABLISHMENT. YOU HAVE BEEN AWARDED 1,500 WISH POINTS. CURRENT WISH POINTS 2,315".
('Okay that's nice but the problem now is what do I do with this goblin establishment?') Ron now faced a dilemma. He could turn around and forget about it or could he destroy it and gain even more points? Both had pros and cons.
*yawn* Ron suddenly yawned and it dawned on him that he was still on his first day here and with all the excitement the sun was starting to set. Ron decided to come to an answer for his dilemma after a good night's sleep.
('Now where to sleep actually?') Ron now had a new problem. He could sleep on the ground but if the goblins found him he would die quite literally. There could also be other predators like those wolves Ron still hadn't found. He could wish for a shelter but Ron wanted to use his points to deal with this goblin camp.
Ron looked around the forest. Some trees were big some were small, Ron decided to sleep in a tree high above the ground. But he would need to find a huge tree, and he would need to climb it of course.
Ron walked around looking for a huge tree to sleep in while making sure to remember the way to the goblin camp. After a good 15 minutes of searching Ron had found a good tree. The branches seemed to be thicker than a person and it towered above the rest of the trees.
('Now how do I climb this tree?') Ron had climbed trees in his childhood but those were small trees and not a huge tree like this one. "Well let's see if I still got it" Ron muttered before taking off his jacket and wrapping it around the tree and started climbing.
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
It took a few tries to get it but Ron eventually got up a decent way and got onto a large branch to sit. Breathing out a sigh of relief Ron decided to grab an MRE out of his bag of holding and eat it. Luckily he's been drinking water while walking when he got thirsty so no need to take out the container now.
"Still pretty bland" Ron muttered as he ate the MRE. The boar would've tasted much better. After finishing his meal Ron reflected on the day, and what a hectic one it has been.
('I died, got transported here, fought with a boar and stalked some goblins') Ron summarised. He definitely never would have thought of these things ever happening to him.
*yawn* Exhaustion suddenly hit Ron hard and he closed his eyes and fell asleep. If Ron had opened his eyes and looked down he would be surprised. Unbeknownst to Ron his earlier thoughts about goblins finding him if he were sleeping on the ground would turn out to be correct as goblins were now patrolling and walking around the forest.
Ron awoke several hours later he was a bit confused for a second before recollecting himself. ('I'm still here') Ron thought as his stomach growled and he began the day with food.
"Now how to deal with the goblin camp" Ron muttered. He assumed he would get a lot of wish points for destroying the goblin camp and maybe even some fresh food. There was also the wall itself, did goblins even make structions?
Ron didn't have enough knowledge about them nor was he with an entire army to support him. Ron was alone; he hadn't seen another person here since he got here.
('Wait what if I didn't have to be alone?') Ron had a sudden mad idea, if he could wish for anything could he even wish for a person? Ron opened the wish store before wishing to know if he could wish for a person.
"CALCULATING... THE PRICE FOR THE INFORMATION ABOUT SUMMONING IS 100 WISH POINTS". Ron saw the message and decided that paying it was worth it; he now had 2,215 wish points left.
However instead of a message popping up like before this one actually came in the form of a letter.
"So you wanna summon someone in the tower of wishes don't you? Well you are in luck! You can summon anyone you can dream of! A strong champion who can defend you? Sure!. That one hot busty elf? Yes! Or maybe even your childhood crush? "Of course!"
"The rules are simple! Open the wish store and simply speak the name of who you want to summon. However there are changes to normal wishing, The price the store gives you is the day price meaning while summoning is active it drains points."
"However! Summons have their own will, their own thoughts and needs. You will need to convince them to help you or they may even leave you or attack you. Of course there are methods of forcing them to help you, however those will always cause nasty side effects."
"If the summon chooses to leave you they will become a stray summon. Stray summons will wander around the floor not draining any points from their summoners. And are free to be recruited will not drain points when recruited or even attacked. Stray summons do not have access to the wish store."
"If you want the summoned to leave the tower of wishes the summoner and summoned person need to be on the same page! If the summoned person does not want to leave they can become a stray summon."
"Hope this clears up all confusion surrounding summoning! Happy summoning! – The Summoning Guru"
"..." Was all Ron could say after reading this letter. Well it was certainly some read for example who would bring their childhood crush here?
('Well in any case that did clear up a lot of things') Ron concluded. First it explained all about summons but it also gave him hidden hints of the tower itself. There were floors, maybe a bit logical in hindsight but Ron hadn't seen any staircase. And second it was signed by the 'Summoning Guru' meaning there were others in this tower.
Ron stretched his body and climbed down the tree now with a clear plan in his mind. He was going to summon the best help he could think of against goblins. Ron had zero worries that he wouldn't help. Ron opened the wish store and spoke the following wish.
"I wish to summon Goblin Slayer". And the store answered immediately.
"CALCULATING... THE PRICE FOR SUMMONING THE INDIVIDUAL KNOWN AS 'GOBLIN SLAYER' COSTS 2,000 WISH POINTS PER DAY".
('2,000 points per day is quite expensive') Ron thought as he saw the price. However Goblin Slayer could help him get rid of the goblin camp and earn him more points. Ron gritted his teeth as he confirmed his wish.
In a flash suddenly a person stood in front of him. The person was fully armoured with a sword, shield and plate armour and a helm. The man looked around a bit before turning his head to Ron.
"Where am I?" Goblin Slayer asked.
"You are currently in the tower of wishes, I summoned you here". Ron replied.
"Why?" Goblin Slayer asked.
"I need your help". Ron relied.
"Goblins?" Goblin Slayer asked.
"Correct, they've set up a camp and I want to get rid of it". Ron explained.
"I'm in" Goblin Slayer finalised the deal.
True to his name this man would even roll with being summoned to a different place in time and space and still kill goblins.
*Ding* The sound of a message rang out in Ron's head. He just got an achievement.
CONGRATULATION YOU HAVE GAINED THE ACHIEVEMENT NAMED 'CONVINCING' FOR GETTING HELP FROM A SUMMONED WITH ONLY YOUR WORD. YOU HAVE BEEN AWARDED 1,000 WISH POINTS. CURRENT WISH POINTS 3,200".
Ron already lost 15 wish points from that little exchange with Goblin Slayer but has unexpectedly gained 1,000 wish points. It wasn't in the letter either. The Summoning Guru must know about this achievement yet he didn't put it in his letter?
Ron had a thought that people couldn't tell others about what achievements there were and how to get them, but he could only wait to confirm it at a later date.
"Where are they?" Goblin Slayer asked Ron. Eager to end more goblins.
"Follow me, I'll explain on the way there". Ron said and they started walking towards the ending of the forest. As they were walking there Ron explained how he encountered them from his boar hunt to finding their camp.
"I'm still a total beginner when it comes to fighting. I don't even know how the boar didn't die from me stabbing it in the head" Ron explained to Goblin Slayer.
"How did you stab it?" Goblin Slayer asked.
"Like this" Ron said and demonstrated how he stabbed the boar as he thrusted the spear in his arms.
"Weight" Goblin Slayer stated.
"Huh?" Ron was a little confused with only that word. Was the spear too light?
"You didn't add weight behind the thrust, step in then stab with your whole weight". Goblin Slayer explained.
"Oh!" Ron exclaimed. Of course it seemed obvious in hindsight but Ron was a complete layman when it came to combat.
Ron gave it a few tries and noticed the spear cutting air a lot easier and faster. If he had put his whole body weight behind the thrust against the boar it would've died instantly. Now a lot more confident about combat Ron and Goblin Slayer came to the edge of the forest and the goblin camp was just ahead.
