as soon as the notification appeared, I felt like all my strength washed away and weakness came to embrace me. When I am going berserk, I can barely feel the poison effect. now I just realize that I am quite heavily poisoned. I could feel my feet turn into jelly as they began to wobble and I finally gave up standing. I lay back on the ground, accidentally falling on some dead rabbits, and spread my arms wide. it feels so good.
*****
Turns out I fall asleep and wake up several hours later when the sky is dark.
I looked around and everything still looked the same. dead rabbits everywhere with the biggest one in front of me. I suddenly felt the urge to eat and immediately started biting on Luvia's corpse. I finished her in an hour, while also eating a few smaller rabbits as dessert. Once I am done, I once again lay down on the ground and sleep.
the next day comes and I run back to Boroboro Village. Old Hokai was very surprised to see me in a hurry, he asked me where I had been and why I was in such a hurry. I didn't answer his question but I demanded him to bring as many carts and people as he could to have a big party for them.
Old Hokai obeyed my word right away and started to order some people. in fifteen minutes, a line of ten carts is ready outside the village gate with people waiting for my command.
I feel a little embarrassed. back home, nobody will listen to what I say unless I give them valid proof. but here, these people quickly arrange themselves even when I say something most people have a hard time believing.
I walk beside them to the rabbit's nest because I don't want them to stare at my buts! the cloth only covers my front side, damit!
I walk beside them with Old Hokai who keeps talking to me privately along the way, asking with great details about what I have been doing and how I do it. I tried to answer as detailed as possible, but even then Old Hokai would always have a few questions that make me think about it. he asked how many rabbits there were, and how painful the smaller rabbit's poison was, he even asked how I knew that the big rabbit was a woman of a certain age.
as we talked, I checked on my status screen and noticed that I had made some changes there. one of them is that I am now ranked eighth, which means there is one weaker Great Beast that I have managed to skip. lucky me!
Then there are these two new skills that I have to check.
Skills : Beast Mind
This skill is a variation of the basic version.
This skill will allow better focus when fighting and help control user emotions better.
be careful!
The beast is almost unpredictable; the skill might offer dangerous suggestions that trigger beastial instinct.
the mind skill is changing. Isn't it supposed to be evolving? like many stories back home?
The new mind skill, called Beast Mind, appears to give me better focus and emotional control. The cost will be an occasional dangerous idea that might trigger my other skills. By the way, I never really checked on this skill called Hybrid Instincts.
Skills : Hybrid Instincts
This skill is gained through a combination of Human Paths and Beast Path.
This skill will allow the user to know the basics of survival, including food choice, battle form, and life preservation, both as a Human and as a Beast.
Some of the instincts might clash with one another; users are advised to consider this before following their instincts.
Okay, that is weird.
Humans are supposed to not have instinct; instead, they have wisdom that works the same but better. but maybe because I am both, I am given the skills to help. At the same time, the Beast Mind skill might cause problems when put together with these Hybrid Instincts skills. I just hope there are no significant issues in the future.
Skills : Enhanced Regeneration
This skill is an upgraded version of natural regeneration that belongs to every organic being.
This skill will allow for faster recovery.
be careful!
These skills will only work effectively outside of battle!
The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.
Well, there is no need to think too much about this one. It's just an everyday regeneration skill. not at the level of Ex-Man, so there is no need to talk about it any further than this.
At least, the new skills are useful in one way or another. Something unexpected might happen in the future due to the skills, but let's think about it when the unexpected happens.
anyway, we finally arrived at the rabbit's nest. Old Hokai almost had a heart attack when he saw the dead rabbits scattered around like trash in the junkyard. the villagers quickly get excited and begin to collect the corpses of the smaller rabbits while Old Hokai asks me about the bones I left behind. I confirmed to him that the bones belonged to the big rabbit called Luvia.
I help the villagers collect the rabbits. my size helps a lot as I can carry more rabbits than the villagers can collectively. In the process, the villagers begin to ask me about how the rabbits die as the corpse is quite fresh and without any wounds. I just told them that the rabbit was scared to death. no lie on this, they just didn't need to know more than that.
We gathered about sixty percent of the corpse and decided to go back if possible. the amount of dead rabbits is way too much for the villagers to take care of, they need to skin it, preserve the meat, and many more. Old Hokai specifically asked for the Luvia cracked bones to be carried back, he said that he had plans for those bones.
there is nothing significant on the way back and soon we arrive back to Boroboro Village, with the remaining villagers welcomed as excitedly as they see the amount of rabbit corpses we carried back to the village. I followed along with the villagers and put the rabbit corpse that I carried down near the village gates.
after that I decided to go to my makeshift bathtub, washing my body from the blood and grime that stick to my body. of course, I failed to wash my body clean, once again, because when i went down into the water then at the same time the mud quickly rose and dirtied my body. Somehow I feel desperate for this, but what can I do?
*****
the next few days are moving fast without any significant issues.
for most of the time, I am only helping out the villagers taking care of their daily lives like helping with the plants and farms. I also didn't feel any disturbance from my skills. maybe the skill will only be active when I am in battle, or my life is just too peaceful for the skill work.
these few days are so peaceful that sometimes it makes me forget about the mission that I have to finish and my life back home. of course, there are a lot of things that this village didn't have compared to my modern life, but at the same time, my modern life didn't have this kind of peacefulness. back then, the urgency of my life was always about someone else's happiness while I could only follow along. not a bad life, but when I compare it with what I have today. my past life seems a little too tight.
my peaceful day is perfected by Kuidres, who comes to me with a big piece of shorts. it was the pants that I ordered days ago!
I quickly tried to put it on and somehow it fit perfectly!
I don't know how she does it but I thank her so much I almost cried. no one will ever understand what it feels like to walk around only covered in a piece of dirty torn cloth. I promised to repay her kindness in the future, which she accepted with a big smile.
Of course, I don't feel comfortable yet. The pants were rough and I didn't have any underwear. but these pants are a big improvement from the piece of cloth.
my peaceful day was ruined when Old Hokai came to me one day, saying that he had important things to talk about with me. He insisted on leaving the village for this, out into the distance where the villagers could not hear or see us.
along with us is a man who carries some pieces of protective clothing made of stacked rabbit skin. i look into the clothing and see that it gives only a little protection, but it is still better than nothing.
We arrived at the place Old Hokai wanted about two hours later. Old Hokai asked the man to set up the tents for them while he talked to me. As the man leaves, Old Hokai begins to talk in a serious tone.
"Lord Yohan, I am very sorry if I sound like I am crossing the line.
But I need to tell you this, or else you won't survive for long."
"What is it, Old Hokai?"
"You described your fight yesterday, and I've been thinking about it for a few days.
Lord Yohan, I think you need to learn to fight properly."
I feel like I'm getting punched in the throat. I suddenly feel like gulping my saliva due to nervousness. Old Hokai has realized that I suck at fighting and I only win due to unexpected uses of skill and the power of surprise.
"Why do you think I need to learn?"
"Based on your story, My Lord, I can conclude that you are from a land of peace.
you don't know anything about fighting.
you didn't see the chance when it was there.
you didn't know about your skills and only used them accidentally.
You are even unable to discern the deadliest weapon you have, and instead use the most basic way of fighting as if you are a baby."
"Wow, are you telling me that based on my story or you are there watching me?"
"I am telling you based on your story, My Lord.
I was a warrior, of a famous warrior clan, back when I was way younger than this.
I know how a warrior describes their battle and their moves better than anyone else."
"I see, then I think you take me here so that you can teach me?"
"Yes, my Lord.
for your help and willingness to fight for our small village, I will dedicate my life to training you.
I will make you into one of the strongest martial artists and fiercest beasts the world will ever know."
"Very well then, I accept your offer.
please teach me, Master Hokai."
I said that with a bow, and Master Hokai responded with a similar bow. we both look at each other and then begin to laugh.
an old human with a height barely above one and a half meters is now teaching a giant five to six-meter-tall Were-Lion. Somehow this scene makes me remember Master Shifu, who if translated will become Teacher Teacher.
