Third POV - Yohan Rampage
Yohan roared with all the hate and sadness in his heart. His roar was loud enough to put the Treants into fear. They begin to look at Yohan in a different light, not a young challenger anymore but a dangerous beast.
After his roar ended, Yohan crouched on his spot and pushed his body hard, throwing himself toward the nearest old Treant. His fist was pulled and when he got closer to the Treant, he shot his fist with all his might.
BRAAKK!!
the old Treant who received Yohan's punch was split in two, with the crack located precisely on Treant's face. The old Treant, unable to produce any sound, had its upper half fall to the ground with a trembling sound.
Yohan jumps from his first victim to the next, killing three old Treants before jumping over the wall to find the villagers running around in panic. The younger Treants appear to chase the villagers around, pushing them to run as fast as they can while scaring each one of them.
Not too far from Yohan, a young kid falls to the ground as a small root suddenly appears below the group and pulls her leg. Yohan's anger quickly rose and he quickly grabbed the small root. Yohan pulled the root up with all his power and a house Treant suddenly yanked toward him.
This Treant size was not really big, maybe around three to four meters. Yohan grabs the house Treant with both hands on two different sides. He grabs as tight as he can while pulling the Treant's body on two sides.
GRREAAKKKK!
The house Treant's body was split in two. Yohan throws Treant's body aside and looks for another target. Yohan ran around the village and killed as many Treants as he could.
At first, the young Treants ignore him and keep chasing the villagers while torturing them. But soon they begin to notice Yohan's actions and start to run away, afraid of the possibility of being killed.
Meanwhile, Oak Treant only sees Yohan run around killing his younger Treant. His eyes give out a mysterious look, one that appears between calculation and fear. He remains on his spot, unmoving while watching Yohan rampaging around.
ROOAARRR
Yohan roared again as he split one house's Treant trunk into pieces. He threw the remaining pieces in his hand toward the nearby Treant that could not dodge and had to accept itself being struck by its kind's pieces.
then out of nowhere, a thick root suddenly grabs Yohan's ankle and pulls him down. Yohan managed to save himself from falling face down to the ground and forcefully pulled his leg, trying to set it free from the root.
"You cannot fight me in your current power, Challenger.
you are too weak."
Oak Treant sauntered as he approached Yohan, who was still trying to set himself free. Oak Treant didn't just stay put and watch Yohan. instead, he sent more roots to grab Yohan's arms and other legs. Oak Treant can say that since Yohan was losing his sanity, Yohan has become an easy opponent. his very movement will be easily read.
using his advantage, Oak Treant continued to torture Yohan by stabbing his pointy roots into Yohan's body. the roots quickly creep into the flesh and bones of Yohan's body. it induced pain beyond any he ever felt, in this world or before. the pain made Yohan roar even louder, especially when the roots started to dig deep into Yohan's inner organs and grab them tightly.
"lo and behold, the Great Challenger!
died under my roots like some unknown corpse!"
Yohan tried to break free with everything he had. he kept pulling and wiggling with all his power. until finally, after struggling some more, Yohan's body finally gave up. he cannot struggle anymore as the pain and tiredness have already numbed his mind. On Yohan's face, there was only hatred and regret, like a ghost with unfinished problems in the past.
Oak Treant was very happy. He has lived for quite a long time and met some challengers. never in his wildest dreams did he ever think of killing a challenger.
Usually, a challenger is a strong being with power beyond common understanding that easily surpasses others. Only Monsters of unimaginable power and wisdom can even have a chance to match a challenger.
"Finally! Finally, I killed a challenger!
AHAHAHHAHA"
Yohan's body slowly goes limp as strength leaves him. no more mighty roars. all that was left was a weak, bloody body that clung to whatever energy it had left to remain alive. Yohan was still in his trance despite his body no longer moving and his breath ragged.
With a loud laugh, filled with pride and devilish satisfaction, Oak Treant looked at Yohan's body that now lay on the ground.
Yohan has fallen.
*****
Hidden behind broken wooden pieces and cracked lands, the villagers see their self-proclaimed protectors falling.
That lion in the shape of a man, who fought his best to protect them and save them from the Treants, now no longer has the power to do anything.
Sure, the villagers know that Yohan was the one who brought the Treants to their village. Even worse, Yohan was the one who asked them to break down their own houses and move to the Treant-made houses. Yohan was the one who brought this disaster to them.
By that logic, the villagers were supposed to hate Yohan and didn't care about him anymore. They will just wish him dead and forget about him.
But somehow, they cannot ignore Yohan. Some of the villagers really know Yohan, seeing him in a closer look and not just looking at him from a distance. Some of the villagers know that Yohan was never meant to bring disaster to them.
He was just plain naive, thinking that the world's problems could be solved by talking.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
He acted like he came from a peaceful place where there was no danger and was suddenly thrown into this world. Those close to Yohan can tell this much.
one of the said people was Yohan's first friend and also his master, Hokai. He has paid attention to how Yohan acted and fought from his point of view as a war veteran. if Yohan was not a Great Beast or a Challenger, Hokai was sure he would have died in the first few days after his arrival.
Yohan's fighting style was lame and his stance was weak. He mostly relies on his better than most physical strength which somehow manages to help him all this time. the only thing closer to Yohan's level of ability was a young bully, who happened to have a bigger body than others. When such a bully meets someone bigger than himself, they will quickly fall and be left to eat dust.
Hokai considers Yohan to be a child with a big body. he tried to train him and guide him to a proper way of fighting, but in the end, he realized that Yohan wasn't meant to fight by the rules. Yohan will have to fight many creatures that are way bigger and stronger than himself, he is destined to fight power with power. techniques may help him here and there, but in the end, he just needs to be strong. Stronger than himself, stronger than anyone.
Hokai now sees Yohan fall to his enemy, one that he thought was a help for the village. the enemy was strong, it was the oldest Great Beasts in this Great Grassland. The name Oak Treant was famous for its cruelty and savagery, but no one knows about its true behavior. that is why Hokai chose to believe in Yohan when he said they agreed with each other, only to finally fall to its trickery.
Oak Treant laughed happily as he thought he had managed to kill Yohan. His laugh was filled with malice and cruelty putting the villager's heart with terror and despair, but not for Hokai and a few select people.
People like Kuhiki and Haku responded to the oak treant's laughter with gritted teeth and angry looks. They knew how sincere Yohan could be when he was being himself and they believed his actions were all for the goodness of Boroboro Village. they refused to fall into despair despite seeing Yohan's body, who had already fallen weakly to the ground.
Hokai looks around and sees some of the surviving villagers take a look at Yohan. they have seen him fight the Treants and kill some while scaring the rest of them. their faith in Yohan has been restored, to some degree, while their hopes for him have already returned.
Hokai knows this is the best time to raise people's hearts. with their hero falling, a few nicely placed words can turn the terrified villagers into savage warriors. and he had a bet.
"Boroboro Village people!
will you let our Great Beast fall just like that?"
Oak Treants and the villagers quickly turn their attention to the source of the voice. it was Hokai, standing on a dead log with his weak trembling body. his voice was shaky despite his efforts to sound as menacing and encouraging as he used to be. He looks around at the villagers, ignoring the dreadful eyes of Oak Treant, who watches over his very actions.
"I was his teacher when he learned how to fight.
you were his friend when he was tired and wounded.
some of you have seen him when he wanders around like a homeless person.
we know him, we know what he wished for us."
Hokai looks at the villager's eyes. some of them begin to avoid his gaze, feeling guilty as they realize what Hokai means. Hokai felt that he had made a good move, now he just needed to enhance this for a bigger effect.
"You have seen our Great Beast.
He has to fight and kill for you!
he killed those who threatened you without caring for himself.
will you let him be just like that?
only hide and mourn for him while doing nothing to help?"
The villagers become restless. They knew what Hokai said was right, especially the warriors. Their hero and protector was there, on the verge of death door trying to fight for them. Meanwhile, did they just cower in fear?
They wanted to do something, but their enemies were not something humans could challenge. Their enemies were Oak Treant, the old Treant who appears to love torturing his enemies and letting them die slowly.
"I know what you think.
I wouldn't want to ask you to fight that giant tree.
None of us can.
But there is someone who can do that.
That someone was there, and he was waiting for us! "
Hokai takes a deep breath. He was about to deliver his finishing words so he needed to be as convincing as he could.
"We may not be able to fight the Treants, but we can still help Lord Yohan.
Follow me and do it with all your heart.
LORD YOHAAAANNN, WE NEED YOUUUU! "
The other villagers looked at Hokai with surprise. Even Oak Treant looks at Hokai with surprise. No one expects him to act like that. The villagers knew that Hokai was old and maybe he was going insane pretty soon, but the timing was really not right.
'Why is he going senile at this kind of time?'
That is what the villagers thought. Even Oak Treant started to giggle like a stupid old man from seeing how Hokai acted.
Meanwhile, Hokai himself can only put on a brave act. He doesn't know if this will work. He didn't even know if Yohan could hear him. But he hopes, for the slightest chance, that Yohan can hear him.
Grrrr...
Slowly, growls were heard in Yohan's direction. His fingers started to move as his body trembled a little.
Everyone saw what happened to Yohan and instantly they all reacted at the same time.
"WE NEED YOU LORD YOHAAAANNN!! "
