After that encounter, another long night went by for Dream. By that time, it had been quite a while since he acquired those shadowclaws. In fact, he had covered a considerable distance since their encounter and, naturally, their defeat. That was particularly possible due to how uniquely built he was, he didn’t need such a thing as a sleep, he sure could feel exhaustion, but never actually felt from activity such as merely being awake or simply walking as he is currently doing.

So far, he'd only slept occasionally since the moment he became an Odo-wielder. Sleeping, for him, was a risky endeavor due to two reasons. Firstly, it left him highly vulnerable to the monstrosities that littered the forest. Secondly, he lacked an internal clock, making waking up from deep slumber a challenging task. He would wake up only in response to rare external stimuli, which was far from ideal in a monster-infested forest like the one he was in.

A second reason was that being here in the middle, with no internal clock, he had that feeling that it was highly possible that he had spent too much time in one place. Upon waking up, he wouldn't even be able to tell if he had slept for more than one day, one week, or possibly even an entire month.

To address these issues, he decided that he would either not sleep at all or do so only once, and that too, when he managed to find an extremely safe place to rest. As a result, he had only managed to sleep twice since he entered the forest, not that it made much difference to him. Sleeping was, for the freak that he was well aware that he was, a luxury and, therefore, a completely alternative option; what he needed was just a place to rest, allowing his H.P, O.P, and his body to recover safely.

As per usual, Dream was marching south. He was currently walking up a gentle slope when he remarked, “Strange, it's been some time since I was last attacked. That hasn't happened today. Did I enter a dangerous monster's territory or something?”

Dream walked for a couple of minutes before his ears caught up to something.

"This..." he trailed, hearing a noise he hadn't heard in a while: the sound of water—more precisely, running water. A hopeful glance up ahead, where the sound was coming from, filled Dream with anticipation as he quickened his pace to arrive where the gentle slope came to a halt.

As he neared the top of the gentle slope, the sound of the water grew louder and more distinct. Soon, he emerged from the forest onto a breathtaking scene. Before him, a crystal-clear stream cut through the heart of the forest, leaving a treeless path that descended from his right to his left.

The water cascaded gently over smooth stones, creating a soft and soothing melody that filled the air. Sunlight filtered through the dense foliage, casting dappled patterns on the shimmering surface of the stream.

The sight filled him with the desire to immediately rush to the stream, but before he could do so, something caught his attention, emanating from uphill along the stream. At first, it sounded like a distant rumble, but as the noise grew more pronounced, he discerned the sound of barks and loud grunts intermingled with it. The commotion was nearly drowned out by the melodious sound of the stream, but it gradually became more conspicuous.

Curiosity piqued, Dream paused and waited for the source of the noise to reveal itself. Soon, rushing downstream beside the stream, a large creature came into view. With each rumbling step, the ground trembled beneath its weight. The creature was being chased by a group of monsters, rushing downstream, passing just below him.

Description

Moonhowler are ferocious awakened beasts, resembling a large, wolf-like creature that prowls the shadowed depths of the untamed wilderness.

The Moonhowler has dark or gray fur streaked with patches of mottled patterns, allowing it to blend seamlessly with the surrounding shadows and providing an advantage when hunting its prey under the cloak of night. However, that doesn't change the fact that it tends to prefer chasing in broad daylight.

One of the most striking features of the Moonhowler is the tusk-like protrusions of its ribs that curve outward from its sides.

Just like their mundane breathrens, they hunt in packs. A pack would usually consist of a group of 4 to 9 individuals.

Dream watched as the gigantic moose-like creature rushed downstream being chased by the pack of six Moonhowler. Dream watched as the gigantic moose-like creature rushed downstream, being chased by a pack of six Moonhowlers, passing by from his vantage point. Not having noticed his presence, the monsters moved away, proceeding further downhill. But before they completely disappeared from his field of vision, Dream made a decision. 'For once, it's not me that is being hunted,' he smiled, choosing to remain at his vantage point and follow them to observe how this chase was going to end.

Dream pushed himself to keep up with the monsters. Finally, when he reached the scene of the battle, the tides had indeed shifted in favor of the Moonhowlers. The gigantic moose-like creature, now wounded and exhausted, struggled to fend off the relentless attackers. The pack of Moonhowlers closed in on the moose-like creature, their relentless assault becoming more ferocious.

With their fangs and claws glinting menacingly, weaker Moonhowlers lunged at the moose-like creature, aiming for vulnerable spots on its massive frame. Meanwhile, the stronger ones from a distance unleashed a barrage of aero-elemental attacks, sending gusts of wind and razor-sharp projectiles at the poor creature. It tried to break past them with its geo-elementalis powers but had no success, as the creatures' reflexes were swift and steadfast, allowing them to dodge the boulder the Moosmaw had unleashed at them.

Eventually, much to Moosmaw's commendable resilience, what was meant to happen, happened. Overwhelmed by the Moonhowlers, the moose-like creature, unable to fight its way and sustain its multiple injuries, fell down, with the Moonhowlers attacking her relentlessly until it happened.

While he initially planned on doing nothing but observing from his vantage point, the sight of the creature fighting for its life mellowed Dream's heart, prompting him to take action.

Naturally, the sight of their meal vanishing in front of them didn't fail to alert and anger the pack of Moonhowlers. Barking at one another in confusion, it took them some time to finally notice Dream's presence. Perhaps it was their hunger that allowed them to detect his scent, or maybe they had finally cooled down from their adrenaline-fueled chase.

Coming out of his hiding place, he was growled at by the bloodthirsty creature, which, from their demeanor and drooling saliva, clearly wanted to maul him apart. But before any of them could make a move against him or even take a step towards him, Dream hurled an electro-elemental attack upon the strongest Moonhowler.

The charged spear hurtled towards the strongest Moonhowler, its blinding blue arc slicing through the air like a bolt of lightning. Caught off guard by the sudden attack, the Moonhowler had no time to remotely muster a single reaction. The thunder spear pierced through its head with a resounding crack, instantly silencing its menacing growls and spurting blood onto its comrades.

Since it was already too late to back off, Dream wasted not a single minute as he darted from his vantage point, charging at the injured and worn-off Moonhowler. He screamed, "I'll avenge you, Brave Moose Comrade!"

Just like it had been for Moosmaw with the Moonhowler, what was meant to happen, happened to the Moonhowler.

Unleashing another electro-elemental attack, Dream slew the last Moonhowler trying to make an escape, causing it to fall limp to the ground. He looked around and noticed the six Moonhowler corpses smoking, emanating a unique scent of burning hair, charred flesh, and ozone. Blood spattered the ground and him from the short battle.

"Did I get over excited for nothing?" he mused, trying to wipe the blood off himself.

Realizing that it wouldn't simply go with rubs, he walked past the corpses and approached the running stream. He knelt down to clean himself up before taking a wild sip of water.

“Aaaah, I missed this,” he sighed contently, as he finished cleaning himself up, “What’s a good adventure with—” he began before trailing mid sentence.

Just as he had with the Moonhowler and the Moosmaw, he sensed something coming from behind him. He stood up and peered, allowing myriad thin illusory lines to appear, drilling in all directions from his body. Amidst those millions, only three of these thin lines caught his attention.

The three thin lines were golden, and their fluctuations indicated that the ones they were connected to at the other ends were closing in on him. Soon enough, they came into view.

Standing atop the vantage point from where he initially spied upon the Moonhowlers, there were three women - three Odoe. The golden appendages sprouting out of their bodies indicated that they were Dae Odoe. The golden crowns on their heads and the visors worn by them made it clear that they were Valkyries. And the gaze they fixed upon him clearly showed that they were there for him.
