“Next time I won’t miss it.”

That’s right, I can do this. There is no reason for me to retreat, I can win this.

The violet snake writhed in a frenzy of agony, its sinuous body contorting and thrashing with unrestrained force. Each movement sent trees and debris scattering in all directions, adding to the chaotic scene. Its powerful coils whipped through the air, displacing everything in their path, as the creature struggled to cope with the searing pain radiating from the wound inflicted by the spear.

After a tense moment of convulsions, the snake managed to gather enough strength to elevate its body off the ground. Its determination was palpable, fueling its desperate search for its elusive adversary. However, to its puzzlement, Dream was conspicuously absent from his previous location. Unbeknownst to the serpent, Dream had expertly maneuvered himself around the vicinity, positioning himself in a strategic corner. From this vantage point, he had a clear line of sight and a distinct advantage to target the creature's vulnerable eyes.

Yet another inconspicuously large spear in hand, Dream summoned his newly formed mantra, hurled it at the Nagadread.

“Eat me this!”

With a powerful throw, the wind-enhanced spear sailed through the air, emitting a haunting whistle as it hurtled toward its target. It found its mark with violent precision, lodging itself forcefully into the snake's eyes.

Hissss!

The impact sent shockwaves through the creature's body, causing it to recoil in sheer agony, its agonized cries reverberating once again through the air.

“Let’s goooo!! Just another one! That one will be the killing blow. Let’s do this!”

Seeing the opportunity to secure victory, Dream closed in swiftly, determined to deliver the final blow. However, as he did, he, as an electro-elementalis user himself, became acutely aware of a subtle change in the atmosphere. The air crackled with electricity, and he could sense the impending surge of energy. The snake's A.P and P.P dropped consequently, its electro-elementalis building up in the air, about to unleash something big.

Suddenly, pillars of lightning shot forth from the ground, one after another. They emerged in quick succession all around Dream and the Nagadread, transforming the surroundings into a forest of emerging electrical spires. In the next instant, a torrent of countless lightning bolts crackled between the pillars, creating a mesmerizing dance of energy. The barrage of strikes ignited the nearby dead trees, setting the area ablaze with a blinding radiance.

As the turmoil subsided, Dream emerged from his protective cocoon of Odo, his breath labored and body showing signs of strain. Even within his self-made shelter, the lightning's wrath had not spared him. Nevertheless, a devious smile played on his lips as he regarded the weary Nagadread before him.

“You nearly had me there, but is that the best you can do?” Dream taunted, his voice laced with a mixture of exhaustion and defiance. He raised a spear in his hand, summoning it with a renewed determination. “I've still got more in me, and I'm not backing down.”

The Nagadread attack not only greatly depleted his A.P. and P.P., but it also significantly lowered his own H.P. There is no doubt that he intended to make that final blow to take Dream down, but it failed.

If I want to take it down it’s now or never.

Seemingly in tune with Dream's words, the creature surged forward with a renewed anger. Its depleted reserves seemed to ignite a determination to conclude the battle by its own hand. Instead of charging straight at Dream in a blind rage, the creature slithered with calculated evasiveness, shifting left and right in an attempt to avoid the spear's potential strikes at its vulnerable spots.

“Smart move,” Dream acknowledged with a hint of admiration, his voice a mix of fatigue and resolve. “But not smart enough,” he declared, reaching for the ground.

In a swift motion, Dream reached down and activated his aquamorphism, his power transforming the land upon which the Nagadread was advancing into a vast expanse of thick mud. The sudden change caused the snake to lose its footing, plunging into the mire with half of its body submerged.

Capitalizing on the moment, Dream followed up with his cryomorphism, channeling his energy to alter the muddy terrain. The ground swiftly transformed into an icy field, encasing the lower half of the snake in a frozen prison.

Summoning lightning across its body with the last of its reserves of prana, the creature attempted to shatter its icy prison. Yet, its frantic struggles only met unyielding resistance, leaving it ensnared within the icy grasp of the newly formed environment.

In the midst of its struggle to break free, the creature suddenly sensed Dream's absence from his previous location. He was missing but not for long. Its serpentine gaze locked onto Dream’s, who hovered in midair, a golden spear clenched in one hand, the other poised in a determined aiming stance, ready to unleash his attack at any instant.

“I’d have to thank you both lowering your H.P, A.P and P.P enough for me to deliver the finishing blow. I won't disappoint,” Dream declared before hurling his spear, with every last ounce of prana he had remaining. “Now die!”

The spear pierced through the space between the Nagadread's eyes, embedding itself almost entirely into its skull without emerging from the other side. In a single strike, the remaining H.P of the Nagadread plummeted to zero.

From his midair position, Dream's strength drained, causing him to descend due to gravity's pull. With no A.P or P.P remaining, he had no recourse but to envelop himself in Odo, using it as a cushion to soften his landing.

From inside the cocoon he built himself, he hit the ground with a heavy thud, with the O.P he had left while his cocoon spared him any fatal concussion, it didn’t spare him the concussion themselves.

Devoid of the strength even to celebrate his victory, Dream, whose vision was blurred, raised his eyes to gaze at the snake.

Although its final H.P had been depleted to zero, the creature was still writhing in its last moments before succumbing to the clutches of death. A loud thud resonated nearby as its head dropped close to Dream, as if making a final desperate attempt to crush him before its demise.

Dream, devoid of the time and strength for a proper reaction, barely managed to lift his arm to shield his head. In silence, he remained for a dozen seconds before responding. Rather than taking offense at the Nagadread's final gambit, a wry smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. A chuckle escaped him, followed by an almost ecstatic, maddened laughter.

“Well done, Snake. I didn't expect that move. Hahaha! Well done indeed.” he spoke between chuckles, amusement in his voice. “That's how a serpent should meet its end," he continued, the exhilaration evident in his voice. “Even if they rarely win against the child hero, they ought to fall in splendor.”

For a solid minute, Dream's smile seemed unstoppable as he continued to chuckle with fervor. However, amid his hearty laughter, he became aware of hovering silhouettes within the gray fog above. The silhouettes weren’t just that of any monsters, these were that of the rulers of the gray and desolate landscape.

“Skyshriekers… so many of them,” Dream mumbled, his laughter finally subsiding to make way for a sterner expression on his face. “The lightning from earlier must've caught their attention. I'd better finish what I have to do and get out of here.”

IIn this gray realm, Dream had learned a vital lesson: watch the sky and avoid offending the rulers above the fog, as victory was unlikely but defeat was near absolute.

“But that might soon change,” mumbled, activating his skill [Blessing of the Guardian Dragon].

Dream's eyes scanned through his gains, a content smile gracing his face. The gains he had secured made the battle worth it. However, that smile quickly gave way to a frown. “Don't tell me…” he muttered, his expression darkening at the sight of several golden threads. These threads fluctuated like long strands of hair in the wind. And amidst them, one golden thread stood out to Dream—it was a thread he recognized all too well. “You again,” he uttered in a mix of annoyance and realization.
