Upon awakening from his slumber buried within the earth, Dream instantly came to a realization, followed by a conclusion. While the valkyries displayed an uncanny ability to track him down, it seemed obvious that they didn't possess a precise means to do so. If they had such a means, they undoubtedly would have unearthed him and interrupted his underground recovery. It appeared that they were simply following the same southern path as he was, most likely sharing their latest updates among themselves in one way or another as they further advanced.
It was in full knowledge of that fact that Dream approached the golden threads he knew would be attached to valkyries out there looking for him.
It was with a new objective in mind, the one of recovering what he’d lost against the flying valkyrie, H.P and O.M.P included that Dream decided to indulge in a new activity: valkyrie hunting.

It took the equivalent of a two-day journey to stumble upon his first group of valkyries, and judging by the threads of the other valkyries, there was still quite a distance between them and the other group. This suggested that Dream had possibly slumbered for a much longer time than he initially imagined.

To his surprise, as Dream advanced, expecting to encounter another group of winged valkyries or even a single one, the first group he encountered turned out to be wingless common valkyries. Furthermore, they appeared to be of lower levels. Dream contemplated, “Maybe it was just her. Flying winged valkyries might not be so common after all. As much as I'd like that to be true, I should remain cautious. One can never be too careful when dealing with the unknown. That being said, let's get what needs to be done done.”

With an unsettling sense of detachment, he watched the valkyries dissolve into golden liquid that seamlessly merged with him, leaving no trace of their existence. Dream gazed at his newly acquired gains, his previously unmoved expression shifting as the corners of his lips tugged upward. However, the smile that formed was devoid of warmth or compassion. In that moment of slaying the valkyrie, just like any other monstrosities roaming this gray wasteland, Dream felt no pity, no remorse, and certainly no sadness. He simply felt that their deaths had brought him closer to his ultimate goal, even though he knew it was still far away.

“This is great, but far from enough. I need more,” he mumbled to himself, resolute as he moved forward towards the next and nearest batch of valkyries.

The next batch of valkyries that Dream encountered was a group of four, once again lacking any winged valkyries among them. Strangely, despite the distance between them, they closed in on him, heading towards the direction from which Dream had slain the earlier group of valkyries, which made it that they stumbled upon Dream on their way there. Dream understood that this couldn't be a coincidence. It seemed that the valkyries could actually sense the demise of their fellow kin.
From the way they stumbled upon Dream and considering the circumstances of their encounter, the valkyries approached him ready to fight, or at least ready to put a fight against him, with everything they had.They were certainly far more prepared than the previous group of valkyries.
But so what? Neither the fact that they were better prepared nor the presence of one more valkyrie among them was going to change the outcome in any way.
