Emeline

If he had received such treatment, what would’ve happened if she tried to face that same person?

Some soldiers rushed to Blaine’s aid, and he hadn’t even summoned the strength to get back up himself.

He needed the assistance of a soldier, but his exoskeleton was taking most of the weight of his body for him anyway. He was able to slowly stumble his way back, with nanobots entering his system to accelerate his healing.

Viktor haughtily stepped off the platform, dapping up one of the students at the forefront of this crowd before integrating back into it.

Blaine just continued to stare at him through the miniature gaps in these people from behind. He arrived by the other Carlo City members and couldn’t take his eyes off him.

This was his first taste of true and utter defeat.

Being shielded from true talent his whole life hadn’t done good for his mentality, and now his mind was beginning to crumble.

As Viktor turned to look at him, his gaze fell away from him, and he visibly cursed himself for having such fear. Cael was surprised that this fight would’ve affected him this much, but it was understandable.

“Don’t worry about it man. I’m sure he’s like the very top of this school.” Cael said, trying to cheer him up.

However, thinking back to Blaine’s character and his glare back at him, he could tell that he didn’t really achieve what he wanted. Seeing his hostile reaction, Cael just decided to look back at the platform ahead of him to let Blaine handle this by himself.

Before any of them were given a shot to showcase their abilities, some of the other students had matches between them.

Most of these sparring events weren’t anything for them to take much note of. However, there was one individual that seemed to be a level above the rest.

A redhead, with long scarlet red hair in a ponytail. She had a glamorous appearance and wore glasses. She stood at about 5’7, being quite average for people with mana.

Even when being put toe-to-toe against people twice her size, she somehow found a way to overpower them.

Her body seemed to be a bottomless well of mana; this granted her a level of physicality that the others just couldn’t attain.

Her punching power sounded akin to Keagan’s; her speed was greater than even Blaine’s. Her technique and fighting intelligence eclipsed even Vanessa’s and reminded Cael of his own way of battling.

This fighter was strong enough to not have to rely on her smarts, but she still wasn’t rash with the way she fought. No.

She fought with complete calculation and calmness.

A tall, lean fighter thrusted forward his fist, that seemed to be empowered by a glowing gauntlet at first glance. The fist whipped through the air, causing a gust of air to expand out, along with a trail of energy to follow. Before his fist could even reach in a reasonable enough proximity to the warrior, she was out of the line of trajectory.

The punch missed and missed her by mere hairs. In this same motion, additionally, she threw a punch of her own in the form of a more powerful right straight attack.

Her fist crashed right into the boy’s chest, and sounded like a heavy, explosive impact.

Stumbling to the edge of the platform, this stellar warrior finished him off with a deadly side kick, hurling him right off his feet.

The spectators were lost for words, especially in the case of the fighters from Carlo City. Viktor already seemed inhuman, so how could they describe this handy fighter.

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

“Good job, Emeline.” An officer stated, as she stepped off the ring.

“Could I have a go at fighting her?” Cael asked, much to the surprise of his companions.

If Blaine couldn’t even defeat Viktor that snobbishly watched her battle as if he was inferior, what was he going to do to her?

Nevertheless, Cael was willing to take the challenge head-on. After watching her from afar, he was surprised by her amazing technique and intelligence. Maybe, that could be something he could gain for himself in the future.

The best way of figuring out her intelligence and talent would be through facing her in the ring directly; to view all the intricacies of her fighting style.

The officers looked to each other with slight confusion, but didn’t see a reason to stop this. Emeline had clearly not overexerted herself, having defeated her previous foe within only a few handpicked combinations.

Emeline’s face showed total indifference. There wasn’t an iota of arrogance, annoyance, or even confusion in her face. All she did was stare at the soldier, awaiting a reply.

“I don’t see why not. Go ahead.” He replied, giving him the green light.

Cael leaped right into the ring’s centre, using the power of his exoskeleton.

Both fighters stood against each other, with Emeline tight in her stance while Cael bobbed from side to side with seemingly more confidence, somehow.

However, both fighters had clear, calculative minds. The fight began, and Emeline began elegantly approaching Cael with her picture-perfect footwork.

As she advanced, she continued moving her body to make sure that she didn’t remain an easy target. That wasn’t to say that Cael wasn’t doing a similar thing. As she advanced, he slowly retreated until both fighters were just about out of range.

Snapping right into range, Cael threw an elongated jab that Emeline simply slipped right past.

Delivering a jab of her own, she stepped forward herself and connected with her first attack, simply possessing far greater speed.

Whilst she was in range, she continued with a right straight, followed up by two subsequent hooks. Cael felt dazed by these attacks, and was startled by her explosive power.

In this moment, his main task would be to try and just throw any attack to keep her away. Emeline was aware of this, and was already retreating by the time his fist was hurtling toward her.

His knuckles landed on the frames of her exoskeleton, causing no damage to her body. Following up with a punch then a jumping kick, his weight and power forced Emeline to take a step back.

However, as she turtled up and remained tight in her stance, she didn’t move back as much as Cael anticipated.

Even if she was much lighter, her muscles were granting her a powerful foundation that Cael would struggle to just knock around. Revealing the short sword that her exoskeleton was equipped with, and Cael blocked hers with his own.

Clank!

Sparks flew out in all directions as the two metal blades collided. From this collision, Cael was thrown back and forced to retreat swiftly upon watching her advance.

Even in his retreat, Emeline was on him like the rash; it would take much more than a simple step back to remain out of her range.

She delivered a whipping punch to his body before shooting her dagger straight for his face. Reflexively falling back, he was able to move back just enough so that the blade only clipped at his cheek.

As the fight continued, Cael still couldn’t find a way to triumph against her. Her far superior physical abilities were just too great a challenge to surmount.

“What did he even think going up there?” Blaine asked his companions, confused and slightly embarrassed.

This was the perfect time for the group to show that they fit in here, but they certainly weren’t doing the best job.

“I don’t know. I really don’t know.” Vanessa replied, also feeling a similar way.

During this time, though, he had spent great time analysing her techniques and marvelled at the perfection of her style. The incorporation of feints, countering and the predicting of her opponent made it almost impossible to hit her.

Whenever he did, it almost felt like she was letting him do so. Along with that, he’d never actually hit her body. His punches and kicks would merely land on her forearms or shins, no other area.

Receiving a punch to his gut, followed by a hook to his cheek, she slashed right into his abdomen, reaching reasonably deep.

A wave of blood was released as she cut this deep, and just to add insult to injury, she finished off with one of her classic side kicks that sent Cael sliding across the canvas.

He strugglingly tanked her other attacks, but this was the last straw. The soldiers could see that the slash he received was reasonably deep and after the utter domination they’d just witnessed, they called the fight off.

Emeline fell back and stoically leapt off the ring, whilst nanobots were launched into Cael’s open wound to close it.

The pain in his gut after receiving that final side kick was bothersome and intense. In just about a minute, his skin was already sealed over completely and the nanobots were applying the finishing touches to the healing process.

Retreating back into the nanobot dispersion device, a high-pitched ringing sound denoting the healing's completion resounded through the area as his wound was completely healed.

He returned to the others that had watched that play out, and Blaine felt too embarrassed to even acknowledge his presence.

Vanessa just looked confused as he returned.

“Why did you choose to fight her, you knew you wouldn’t have been good enough to beat her.” Vanessa asked quietly.

“Don’t know. It was just on a whim, I guess.” Cael replied, with a slight chuckle.
