He landed on the grass floor, and then opened his eyes in surprise as he had felt no impact. This was because Emily had slammed into the massive fighter, to knock him off course. His mace was now wedged right in the ground, and Emily continued to try and wrestle with this man.
She wanted to get him on the ground, because she knew that he wouldn’t stand a chance against her and her sword.
However, getting him on the ground would not be an easy task by any means. Pushing as hard as she could, she made no leeway. Her strength just couldn’t match up to her adversary’s and it was quite dangerous for her to even be in this style of fighting.
The mammoth student smiled behind his helmet upon noticing how rash this girl’s actions were. He drove his fist into her gut, then grabbed one of her arms to flip her right over her shoulder.
She was slammed into the floor as a result, but Cael rushed right in to help her. Using his powered gauntlet, he landed a precise punch to the lower side of his helmet and saw him fall back with a slight stagger.
His punch had done its job, and Emily could see that right away.
Both warriors rose and faced this slightly stunned warrior with newfound confidence. They nodded to each other, and advanced. Emily unsheathed her blade in her advance, while Cael simply sprinted forward as fast as he could.
His exosuit propelled him forward with every step that he took and allowed him to close the distance between him and his opponent in a flash.
Almost in reflex, he threw a punch right for Cael, but all that he hit were his raised arms. The strike caused him no problems, and he simply retaliated with a strike of his own.
From his right, Emily aimed slightly lower and slashed her katana-like blade across his abdomen. Getting just the right angle, her extremely hot blade managed to slice right through the layers of armour in his abdomen, cutting his skin.
The slash was painful as his skin had met a very hot blade, but he was lucky that the blade wasn’t kept within his body for long.
The two fighters continuously beat down this fighter, and he kept his fat, large forearms up to try and protect himself. He did a somewhat good job at managing the attacks and ended up receiving significant damage to his forearms in the process.
With Cael wrestling him, he made sure to keep his hands occupied. Each fighter tried to overpower the other, and it was clear that Cael only had a few short seconds before he would be viciously overpowered.
All he had to do was divert his attention away from his teammate, though. She gave him a light stab into his stomach, and he shouted in pain upon feeling the extreme heat in his stomach.
“Submit or I’ll make sure to do that ten times over!” Emily shouted, as he collapsed to the floor.
He held the newly formed wound in his gut, and blood started to pour out into his hand.
“Yes, of course, here are my coins, damn!” He shouted out, providing his three coins to Emily.
“Good boy.” She said back, sheathing her blade.
Across from them, Adriano had already defeated Amelia, and she was already walking to one of the exit gates, holding her side in pain.
Both her and her other teammate’s wrists were beeping to signify to any nearby fighters that they had been eliminated.
As for Miro, he managed to stay in a little longer, fighting like a true, valiant warrior. However, his opponent seemed to possess that same vigour and resolution.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
He tried to wrestle with the heavy bot, but since they were similar weight and the bot was much shorter, it had the advantage.
However, it wasn’t long before he had received one too many energy blasts and hits. He was soon walking past the group too, and the WM-01 Valiant retreated to fall back to Cael’s side.
“You have a seriously good fighter there. It’s like a true warrior.” Adriano said, walking back to the other two fighters.
With Emily now on 6 coins, the other two were on 6 each too. Cael had received 3 coins from the efforts of his own bot, while Adriano had defeated Amelia himself.
“Where even were their support bots. They must’ve all been taken out before they got to us somehow.” Emily realised, laughing at the fighters that they had defeated.
They still had two minutes before they each received more coins, and they all seemed ready to remain quite reserved for now.
“There’s no need for us to go out and fight again for a while. We should at least wait before all of the remaining teams have received a coin before we try and find anyone again.” Cael suggested.
“Yeah, that makes sense.” Emily replied, as they simply remained in this same area.
They remained calm and vigilant, watching out for any surprise assaults. However, their area of the forest seemed to grow suspiciously quiet.
Before, when they had been battling, Cael could also hear the fights of students from around them. It seemed like the other teams were also playing the same game as them.
Cael’s med kit surveyed the condition of himself and his teammates, providing minor repairs to their equipment and bodies.
As for the bruises that they had received, they were broken down by their bodies, at the help of special nanobots that had been injected into their bloodstreams.
They could accelerate the healing of the body, and almost co-ordinate it. It was a great way for people to heal from wounds like bruises and small cuts in mere seconds.
This was also why the arena allowed such lethal weapons. They knew that the injuries could be handled through just a few seconds or minutes of intense nanobot treatment, so they just weren’t much of a problem.
Cael and his friends decided to relax slightly, and the coins had been dished out to every team in the arena. A few seconds later, the silence still loomed over the forest, until they could then hear energy blasters firing, and metal weapons clashing together.
Battles had commenced.
Twitch!
Cael’s WM-01 Valiant seemed to immediately enter battle mode, unsheathing its sword and standing ready for conflict.
The sensory systems of his autonomous bot were superior to those of humans. They could see ultraviolet but also, most importantly, infrared waves. This allowed them to see humans even in the darkest of light, due to the infrared radiation that they’d emit.
“Hey there, Cael!” Blaine said, slamming his right fist into his left palm.
“Oh no.” Cael thought, upon seeing him approach.
They had only taken down one team, and the event had only gone down for around 10 minutes. If they were eliminated now, they’d have no chance of reaching the top fifteen.
“I need to think! Think, Cael!” Cael told himself, upon watching Vanessa walk out from a tree.
A sensory drone peered overhead, and Emily’s attack drone also arrived at the scene. The teams didn’t immediately engage, and the drones followed this protocol, simply going on standby.
Beside Vanessa was Keagan, another talented member of their institute. He was large and bald, and Cael knew that he had monstrous power. However, out of the three students that faced him, he had the least mana.
“If we can focus our strength on taking down Keagan, then we can get his coins then escape.” Cael thought.
If they could focus their bots all on attacking the other two warriors, they could then keep them away for a long enough time to then overpower Keagan and escape.
Cael knew that he needed to say this strategy to these teammates of his, because they had no clue how strong these people were. If they were rash enough to engage in battle, it would be over for them all.
“All go for the bald guy. Put your bots on the other two! Trust me this is the only time we can win!” Cael shouted, before rushing into action.
Cael then activated his mana stream skill, giving his bot an immediate connection to his mana. He was planning to give this large source from his body mainly to his energy blasters to keep the other two away for as long as possible.
He signalled for his autonomous bot to attack the other two fighters, and this is what it did. It shot out numerous beams of energy at the two, who were forced to enter a battle stance and defend themselves.
More energy blasts started to rain on them from their own attack drones, but the drones of both teams also started to attack each other.
Keagan became flustered by the sudden high-intensity assault from three fighters simultaneously. He might’ve possessed a decent amount of talent, but he couldn't easily win a fight like this.
He slugged forward his fist numerous times at Cael, because he felt like he would be the easiest out of these three fighters to put down. However, Cael utilised his special cyberjutsu abilities and slipped his attacks with ease, even dealing punches himself.
“What the-?!” Keagan blurted out, upon seeing that it was nearly impossible to hit him.
