Chapter 61: Increase

The dense area of energy was exactly like what was described – a unique core that seemed to have a strange attraction to its surroundings. As Fang started to move, the surrounding energy spiraled towards him, like if the core was a magnetic field. It almost felt similar to the tower itself.

However, it was a person that contained this. Feeling fatigued with the constant influx, Fang stopped and leaned against the wall, catching his breath. After all, he had collapsed and lost all of his energy before reforming it once again.

Curiously, Blue came out as Fang was silently slouching.

In the past few months, she had repeatedly tried to interrupt Fang’s practice to no avail, and eventually gave up completely. Looking closely though, she realized that he appeared uncharacteristically tired. He had never appeared this way before.

Although she had given up harassing him, she often observed the energy in his room as she was interested how Fang seemed to progress without any major bottlenecks at all. Today, she felt the fluctuations of a breakthrough, but shortly after, the energy had completely disappeared from the room!

Did he progress to a 5th grade intermediate?

Suddenly, a hand grasped her shoulders.

She almost responded angrily when she realized that Fang had fallen asleep, sinking to the ground. Unable to withhold her curiosity at such an opportunity, she gently sent a probe of energy into Fang.

Usually, when she attempted to seek Fang’s constitution, she would be rejected by an instant parry, but it didn’t occur now. Growing even more interested, she looked further in.

No wonder he became like this!

What kind of method would enable this so quickly? Throughout this semester, she couldn’t learn anymore about his origins, and seemed to only become more and more mysterious.

Sighing, she sat next to Fang and waited.

---

A day passed by as usual, and Fang headed to a practice area in the evening.

Lined with an incredibly dense alloy, the floor and surroundings were renowned for their durability. With the amount of resistance they provided to the area, most martial skills wouldn’t leave any lasting impact.

Ever since the set of conflicts, the institute decided to discourage students from exchanging pointers; instead, they promoted the training dummies in the practice area. To avoid potential injury by students, the rooms were separated and corralled off tightly.

Filled with vigour, Fang entered through the door into a practice room.

Each dummy was constructed from different materials of varying durability to give the practitioner an idea as to how powerful they were.

Fang released his energy, and started off with a single ball of energy.

Bang!

After the dust had settled down, the dummy showed a slight dent, which started to reform back to its flawless exterior. The flexible material insured that the lifetime of the dummies would be quite long as long as the damage wasn’t too severe.

He wasn’t surprised at the amount of damage that was done, as it was just an average shot.

Silently, he quickly memorized the general depth of the damage done. For someone above the preliminary ranks, this skill wasn’t worth much at all.

However, by shooting this, he had a benchmark to compare to.

Once again, he started to form a ball of energy on his palm, but the amount of buildup was much longer.

Bang!

The second ball of energy hit the wall.

Fang looked in confusion. It wasn’t right, the amount of damage couldn’t have possibly been the same?

Again, another ball slowly revolved around his palm until it was flung into the target.

Bang!

The result was yet the same!

Constant sounds echoed throughout the room as occasionally, bright flashes would crash into the dummy. An hour passed, then two hours.

Though the number of energy balls he had used exceeded a hundred by now, the results from each hit was nearly identical. The expression on Fang’s face however displayed no major changes.

As countless other times, he started to condense a whirling sphere when suddenly, a shock ran through his body. Without hesitation, the sphere went flying towards the dummy at an extreme speed, hurtling through multiple layers of the target.

Success!

Fang sighed in relief – this energy had completely surpassed the former attempts by at least tenfold.

He finally connected to the raging area inside, and by pulling out compressed energy from there, his strength had grown, surpassing the limit!
