Chapter 58: Arrival
Without enough people, the game simply ended and Fang with Blue started to walk back towards Mii. A small frown appeared for a second before disappearing as he turned to Blue. “These students from the magic academy are pretty friendly, though they don’t know how to control their drinking.”
Blue blinked – there was obviously no good will behind their invitation, yet, was Fang as dumb as to not notice this much?
The waiter was quite quick, and within several minutes, the floor became clean. However, the upset expression on Tracy’s face still remained. After all, the person who had rushed out of the hall had already left too far.
Abruptly, the party’s atmosphere sobered up from the lively mess it was.
In her heart, Blue looked with glee, only to be disturbed by a low whisper that took place between Tracy and Kerry.
Soon enough, Tracy appeared next to the group. “Mii, I’m feeling a bit dizzy – do you mind coming with me to talk with a couple of friends?”
“That…” Mii glanced at Fang.
He shrugged. “Feel free to go ahead.”
“Excuse me for a bit then, I’ll be back swiftly.”
As they left to the other end of the hall, a cloudy, flushed face rudely swung in front of Fang. Kerry’s appearance was nothing like before, a malicious grin as he stared at him. “Fang, break up with Mii!”
“What?”
“Mii is a noble magician. She belongs in the upper circles of society; look at yourself. You thought you could match her? Never. You’re just one of the dregs, anyone but you at this party would be able to host something as minor as this. If you didn’t know her before, Mii wouldn’t definitely like you. So, do yourself a favor and let her loose, you shameless bastard!”
Groggily, he pointed directly at Fang before staggering back.
Fang remained silent.
On the other hand, Blue grew furious, and grasped Fang’s hand. “Let’s leave!”
But Fang refused to move. “I’m not leaving.”
She shouted at him infuriated. “What, do you enjoy being insulted like that? You want to stay and put up with all that?”
He shook off her hand, and formed a tight fist that outlined his veins against the white skin. “No, if it was any other place, I would punch Kerry right now. Right now though, it’s Tracy’s birthday, and she’s Mii’s roommate. I don’t want to destroy her party – at that time, it’ll certainly affect Mii’s mood for the worse.”
It was too much, she couldn’t stand it anymore. Fang put up with all this for a single girl? Even when the others despised him deep down, and tried to steal away Mii, he didn’t do anything for the sake of a single girl?
This was bullshit, her roommate was too soft. For anyone important to him, he endured anything for them. For her even, if it meant that he’d get insulted.
She looked closely at Fang again, and noticed the deep frown on his face. Although she also wanted to punish him, it felt oddly wrong. To see someone as nice as Fang get shamed by these methods ignited an anger she didn’t know she had.
Blue stamped her feet spitefully, and shouted, “I’m going to leave anyways!”
In moments, Blue had left the hall, completely out of sight.
---
Fang looked at the entrance and sighed.
With Blue gone and Mii chatting away, he was alone in the corner. A sad bottle of fine wine accompanied him as he slowly drowned the glass and emptied it. He could only wait calmly until the end of the party.

Like this, the bottle grew lighter until a figure suddenly entered the hall.
The guests should’ve all arrived; being late was certainly disrespectful to the host.
However, the person who walked in was someone special, that no one said anything.
Her beauty took stole the attention of everyone in the hall. Her attractiveness overshadowed the rest of the females, but the presence that she emitted really was the biggest part. Inexplicably, eyes were drawn to the girl that had entered, who could be described with a single word: peerless!
Some people recognized her, and murmurs spread out throughout the crowd.
It was the favorite daughter of Kingsley, the talented belle, Scarlett!
In Minuet City, no one didn’t know her name. The astonishing strength she possessed at such a young age led her to become a goddess for many youths, and an idol for aspiring girls.
She hadn’t gone to any institute though, and had been missing mysteriously for the past months. Generally, the consensus was that Kingsley sent her off to somewhere more prestigious, where her talent could grow even further.
So why was she here?
“Scarlett, I, I’m Tracy. Are you here for the party?” Hastily, Tracy had moved in front of her as soon as she saw her, but under the pressure that Scarlett seemed to give, she couldn’t help but be extremely nervous. However, she suspected it was a misunderstanding that Scarlett arrived here.
Throughout the entire exchange, Scarlett didn’t bother to look at her, instead, her eyes searching for a certain target. “I’m not, but I’m here to find someone. Am I not welcome?”
“Naturally, you’re completely welcome here!”
If anyone managed to invite Scarlett into an event, it was a tremendous honor, and particularly to someone like Tracy, who cared excessively about her social standing, this was a miracle. Even if Scarlett didn’t come for her, it was something of importance!
Tracy doubted her words though, as she didn’t know anyone that knew Scarlett.
Although Scarlett was like a proud princess, no one knew how her mind worked. She had refused every single invitation from the handsome, rich, powerful youths in the city, yet would often stroll through the city. In these walks, she’d accompany the terminally ill to their last breath, leaving behind a bittersweet memory.
At the present, the male students had surrounded the matchless beauty within seconds.
This opportunity was extremely rare – being able to speak a word or two would be good enough to make them happy!
And in front of them all, Kerry approached her. With a smile on his face, he gracefully bowed towards her. “Hello, Scarlett, I am…”
But before he had even completed his introduction, Scarlett directly walked past him, as if he didn’t exist. Awkwardly, Kerry straightened up from his bow.
Something like this was normal though; she was such a person.
Seeing how harshly Kerry got ignored, other people didn’t dare to express their interest at her. However, everyone was undeniably curious. Who was it that Scarlett visited to find personally?
Finally, Scarlett arrived at the corner of the hall, where a solitary figure gazed up at her.
“Fang, I didn’t expect that you really were here!” Scarlett brought her face up close to Fang. “It was exactly as I imagined; you look extremely dashing and charming!”
The surrounding crowd wiped their eyes. This goddess actually had such a side to her? Moreover, the subject of her attention was unexpectedly Fang!
