Chapter 36: Push
Soon, a large crowd of people gathered – although it was practice time for class eight, their use was occupied by the figure ahead. This also concerned their honor and dignity of the class, so how could they not come?
In addition to class eight, people came running from other classes to watch, as no one would want to miss out on a fight as consequential as this. After the other classes heard the reason for this match, the students went into a deep discussion.
“Class eight sure has the stupidest people, how could he be a possible opponent for one of the top classes?”
“Really though, I can’t stand the arrogance of the people in the top classes.”
“I can’t endure it as well, maybe I’ll even have a chance to challenge… if I wanted to be humiliated.”
“Well, not our problem, guess class eight will learn to keep their heads low as it’ll only bring problems to protest.”
Standing in the middle of the field, Ray extended his thumb upwards to Tom. “I admire your courage, however, you must be quite dumb.”
With that, his thumb faced downwards as an insulting gesture.
Angered already, Tom burst out his energy, and with a roar, sent out a tearing ball that flew directly at Ray.
“Tsk, tsk.” Ray waved his hands in an admonishing action. “4th grade intermediate? Please, this is why you’re all trash. Let me show you the difference between the strong and weak, I’ll even handicap myself and put you down as a 4th grade intermediate!”
While he spoke, energy formed in his hands and met the ball of energy in the air.
Pop!
With access to expensive elixirs and private tutors to teach him, it wasn’t that Ray’s energy level was just higher. The mastery over the techniques were much higher, and so, his energy ball tore through Tom’s but dissipated. Same skills were used on both side, but the difference was apparent, the large energy ball that Tom sent out had been casually tossed aside by Ray.
Although Ray had lowered himself to a 4th grade intermediate, his abilities were simply better, and everyone could see it.
All of class eight watched grimly in silence, they didn’t want to see the results.
If Tom had been defeated with Ray using his full amount of power, this battle wouldn’t been that bad. After all, that would be expected, but being defeated while at the same level left class eight without any excuses. With it though, the reputation of class eight in a place where strength determined your standings would go rock bottom.
Seeing his own skills beat Tom, Ray started to gloat. “Ah, this is too boring, I can’t even consider this a warm up. Can you at least give me a little bit more fun?”
Tom didn’t bother to reply, instead, he raised his hands and jerked forward – a large mass of energy was ready to launch.
2nd grade yellow skill – Energy Crush!
Lazily, Ray sent two Energy Balls flying, but it didn’t manage to break it. The students of class eight lit up with hope.
Though Tom’s skills were inferior to Ray’s, a 2nd grade skill was sure to overpower a 1st grade skill easily. And true to their thoughts, the Energy Crush didn’t break, nearly half still hurtling towards Ray, as Ray dashed to the side.

Tom followed him, because he knew that Ray was unable to get rid of the Energy Crush head on. This was the time to press the advantage, and give chase – he could even win, at least that was the reasoning.
“Ah, Energy Crush, I didn’t expect that.” Ray came to a slight pause. “But pressing the advantage to bring me down? Big guy, you really are stupid.”
Ray bent his knees and threw himself towards the approaching mass. A spiral of energy coursed around his leg, and like a descending drill, broke through the bomb of energy.
4th grade yellow skill – Energy Press!
In moments, Ray appeared in front of Tom, and panicking, Tom tried to materialize Energy Ball. Two kicks flew out, and Tom’s hands fell to his sides as Ray’s fists fell on his chest.
With a dull thump, Tom’s body flew up and collapsed outside the arena.
The victor was clear.
Tom never stood a chance from the start, it was quite obvious that Ray was toying around with him, just using him as a practice dummy to display his skills. He slowly walked to the struggling figure, and put a foot down on his chest. “Oh, poor guy. Next time, think with your brain and learn where you belong.”
Trying to get up, Tom placed his foot and hand against the ground; it was in vain though, he had used all his energy with Energy Crush and the three materialized Energy Balls.
Turning around, Ray waved to the audience. “Hey, you rubbish classes. If you’re not convinced that the bottom is where you belong, you can challenge me – I don’t mind, after all, it’s just throwing away the trash!”
Silent, furious stares faced Ray’s direction. All of class eight felt hate towards this conceited student, but Tom was the strongest of class eight as a 4th grade intermediate with the ability to use Energy Crush. No one bothered to stand up to him from the other classes either; they were after all, a top classer or a regular student, a 5th grade intermediate.
Spitting out blood, Tom started to clench his fists, his eyes boiling in anger. This was his problem that he started, so, with the sense of responsibility he had, Tom felt he had to fight on.
At this moment, a person stumbled forwards.
In this tense point, he instantly became the focus of all the eyes. Everyone couldn’t help but be shocked when they recognized the figure though.
Fang?
While there were many students in class eight, everyone remembered this guy because yesterday, as the last person on the class list, he displayed energy equal to a 2nd grade intermediate.
None of his classmates showed any discrimination to this weak guy, but no one had thought, the person to stand up at this time would be Fang.
Fang’s face looked confused as well. He was certain that he didn’t choose to move forwards.
Who gave me a push?
Looking back, he saw Blue wink at him.
Fang felt a little dizzy; it was definitely his roommate, no doubt.
It probably was that the last time Blue saw him fight, he defeated Garret at the training camp. So naturally, Blue must have thought he could win against Ray.
Though Blue, you should ask for what I think before doing something like this…
