Chapter 20

Walking out of the portal Robert greeted his family and took a seat on the couch. "That floor was hard, I took on a Goblin Chief that was at my level, the good news is not only did I win but I hit level 10, which means I can finally get a class."

John, intrigued, asked, "So how does this class selection work? What factors influence the class you're offered?"

Robert pondered for a moment. "According to the guidebook, several factors come into play, including skills, skill tiers, feats, stats, race, and even titles. Is there anything else I should know, Hal?"

You've covered most of the basics, just remember to allocate your free stat points wisely. A baseline of 20 in key stats is generally beneficial for class selection. Also, don't forget about your remaining perk points. You have a rare perk and two common ones that could significantly impact your options.

Robert checked his status page and realized Hal was right. With four points to spare, he strategically allocated one point each to Intelligence and Wisdom, bringing them both to 19. Before he could speak, Hal suggested, "Use your two common feats to select extra stat points." Robert followed Hal's advice and successfully increased both Intelligence and Wisdom to 20.

Examining his rare perk options, Robert found one that caught his eye:

Perk Name: Rare Class

Perk Description: Base Class starts at uncommon, any offered class moves one tier higher.

Perk Rank: Rare

"Hal, if I understand this correctly, I should never be offered a common class, and any class I'm offered will be one tier higher than usual, right?"

Exactly, in essence, if you were previously eligible for a rare class, you'll now be offered a legendary class instead.

"So why don't more people have uncommon or better classes if perks like this exist?" Robert inquired.

Perk points are incredibly rare, unlike you, most people don't start with any, and many go their entire lives without earning one. In the vast multiverse, it's not uncommon for individuals to reach level 100 without acquiring a single perk. By that point, perks like this become irrelevant.

"So I actually got a decent deal out of this whole mess?" Robert asked, a bit incredulous.

Remember, the System may be strict, but it's fair. Given your focus on magic, it's important to consider the System's preference for balanced skill sets when assigning classes. While your 10 magic skills are impressive, having an odd number of skills often offers greater flexibility in class choices. I recommend selecting one additional skill to expand your options.

"Okay, so I have the elements, creation, time, destruction, light, and healing. Time, time might be a good fit." Robert quickly used a point on the magic of space.

With that, Robert selected the perk and initiated the class selection process.

"Wow, how did I even qualify for these?" Robert exclaimed, astonished.

You didn't, Well, you qualified for four Legendary classes, primarily due to having skills far beyond the norm for a level 10 character, you also possess an unusually large number of magic skills and a divine ability, which is quite rare at this level. Add to that your collection of perks and your unique title, and you've created a profile that the System has deemed worthy of Legendary class options however, your perk caused that to increase. Remember, the System is strict but fair

Robert shared his options with his family, and John was the first to voice his opinion. "Creation is the clear choice. I know you enjoy magic, so the Ranger class is out. The Enchanter, while powerful, seems more suited for large-scale operations, which doesn't align with your solitary nature. Of the remaining two, the Elemental class appears more restrictive in its abilities."

"Hal, what do you think?" Robert asked his AI.

For the most part, yes, the Ranger class aligns well with your skills in hunting and archery, making you a protector of the wilderness. The Enchanter class, on the other hand, is more suited for supporting armies and nations, a role you earned through your enchanting skill. As a Mythical Enchanter, you could command a significant price from any king in the multiverse. Regarding the last two options, The Grand High Archmagi of Elemental Fury is arguably more powerful. However, it restricts you to elemental spell skills, limiting your versatility. The Grand Archmagi of Creation, while not as raw in power, offers greater flexibility and fewer limitations.

"Why is the Grand Archmagi of Creation so unique?" Robert asked.

When you reach the level of a class like that, especially one tied to a specific skill or ability, there's usually only one person in existence holding that title

"So, I would be the only Grand Archmagi of Creation?" Robert clarified.

That's correct, while Unique classes are rare, they don't always signify greater power. However, I believe this particular class is an exception.

"Sounds like an easy decision then," Robert concluded.

Taking one last look at his family, he selected the class.
