Chapter 9: The Lycan Guards' Curiosity

In the moonlit courtyard of Saiya Lairein’s grand mansion, three formidable lycan guards, Sefar, Royo, and Leon, gathered to share their thoughts on the perplexing encounter with Z-01. Despite being just a Touched kid, he had fought them with unparalleled combat skills and harnessed his powers like a seasoned master.

Sefar, his silver-streaked hair shimmering in the moonlight, spoke first, a hint of admiration in his voice. "That kid was no ordinary Touched, that's for sure. He appeared out of nowhere, landing right by the gate, catching us off guard."

Royo, his piercing blue eyes still reflecting his bewilderment and frustration, added, "Indeed, Sefar. His movements were nothing short of extraordinary. I've faced many Touched in my time, but none have ever matched his precision and flawlessness. And that telekinesis of his... It defies explanation. He lifted me off the ground and slammed me into a tree with ease."

Leon, the youngest of the trio, his fiery red hair standing out in the darkness, couldn't hide his curiosity. "Do you think he's part of some secret group? Like the guild or some elite organization? He seemed to know a lot about our abilities, even creating an illusion of himself to deceive me."

Sefar shook his head thoughtfully. "It's possible, but I can't say for sure. There's an air of mystery around him, and I can't help but feel that he's concealing something significant. Something dangerous."

Royo picked up a file they had discovered on Z-01 during their encounter, his brow furrowing as he read through its contents. "Look at this," he said, flipping through the pages. "They're painting him as a victim. It says he was held captive in a secret laboratory, subjected to inhumane experiments. According to this, he escaped and has been on the run ever since."

Leon squinted at the file, trying to make sense of it all. "Why would they lie about him? And who are 'they'?"

Sefar sighed knowingly. "You're still young, Leon. There are forces at play beyond our understanding. People with power often manipulate the truth to serve their own agendas. I suspect someone wants to keep his past hidden, maybe even use him for their own purposes."

Royo agreed, "You're right, Sefar. Our duty is to protect this mansion and its inhabitants, not to untangle the web of deception surrounding that kid. Saiya must have seen something in him that we didn't. She welcomed him with open arms."

Leon nodded, absorbing their wisdom. "We may not know the full truth, but he proved himself in combat. Regardless of his past, he's earned my respect."

Sefar shrugged, “I don’t know. But I do know one thing. His scent was strange. It smelled dangerous and outworldly. Like nothing I’ve ever smelled before.”

Royo and Leon exchanged a look of unease. They had noticed it too.

With their break coming to an end, the lycan guards put the file aside and resumed their patrol, their minds filled with questions about the Touched kid named Vex.
