Valkyrie Chronicles Pt. 2

Lance’s POV

Pssh, as if all I did was interfere with the signal. Bullshit. A pretty lady like this, blind to her actions? I must save her! Aww who am I kidding. I just wanna convince her I am ‘helping’ and get closer to her. I actually didn’t realize my tampering and rearranging her control over body cut her connection with Vethre. That lady’s gonna be mad, huh.

Why didn’t I just fully control her? That’s boring. And sad. I would like the girl I’m with to enjoy my company, after all. If she’s nothing but a slave, I would feel guilty every time I saw her.

Yeah yeah, I could just do my ‘business’ and rewrite her memory and make it so she never knew it happened, right?

Wrong.

She has power over lightning as well. Once she becomes more able to use her powers, she would eventually figure out what happened. Sure she may not remember, but her body will. Just because I rewired her thinking doesn’t mean I completely erased what was there before.

The electric signals leave an imprint. Like a groove on a record disk. The electric signals are like the needle. Every time the needle hits the groove, a sound is played. Every time the signal hits the imprint, a memory or action is brought up.

Maybe I should just make a school with all the teachings about the body? I can even ask [Rock Man] for help.

Oh but maybe I shouldn’t ignore the pretty black haired elder lady in front of me. She actually reminds me of one of those Japanese dolls with the bowl cut like hairstyle. She is not voluptuous or flat. She is adequate. She holds herself like a dancer or actress. Someone who would stand on stage or be the center of attention. But I also get a spooky vibe from her.

It’s not the full black outfit that looks like assassin garb, either!

She must work for Dauthodos. That depressing lady needs someone. She was supposed to be with Gensai, but he left her for Lubrha, or something like that. Never payed attention to the stories of the Gods all that well. Comes with being a Remnant. Speaking of Remnant, I wonder how the [Tyrant] is doing?

Julia’s POV

The boy was silent, but he wasn’t scared at all. Two Valkyries and he was still so calm?!

Calm down.

Let’s first get Laria’s attention.

“Laria! I’m okay! Over here!”

“JULIA?! OH MY GOODNESS YOU’RE OKAY!!!”

“Oomph!”

Ouch! She barreled right into me! Was she really that happy to see me? She seems kind of odd, for some reason.

“Wuuah! I thought you died! Wahh!!!”

Great. She’s crying. What’s going on?

“Hey, boy. Did you do something to Laria?”

“Hmm? No? More like, this seems to be the first time she feels ‘relieved’. Relief is a powerful feeling. It can even stop your will to fight. I thought I might have actually had a fight there.”

“Uwah…*sniff*…Who are you?”

“Ahem. I am Lance Faltian. Champion of Vethre and Gurze. And I may have accidentally caused the disturbance with uh, Julia’s connection. Julia, right? And Laria? Hope I got that right.”

“Yes. Thanks for your…well…no. Good bye.”

“Eh? What did I do?”

“That’s exactly it. You, albeit on accident, did disturb a Valkyrie doing her job. I should be hauling you in for interrogation.”

“It would be best not to do that.”

Laria, who was laying on my lap still sobbing, started upon hearing Vethre coming from her pocket. The boy Lance just looked quizzically towards her but with eyes not focusing on the bag. Strange, it seems he oh. He’s thinking dirty thoughts. Why do I feel angry? We were created with the sole purpose of gathering attention.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Enough about that.

“Madam Vethre, I apologize for the delay.”

“No need to tell me. I felt Lance’s energy just before your signal disappeared. And I doubt someone like Lance would actually kill a Valkyrie. It’s against his…style. Just report back to me tonight and maybe we can fix the signal. I will speak with you further on these cases. See you back at base.”

With the communication ended, Laria stood back up with all her previous dedicated self. She still seemed to be embarrassed because of her actions, but I will speak with her later.

“Lance Faltian, I, Julia Estabell, Agent under the authority of Vethre ”

“Yeah, I get it. Since you now know who I am, it shouldn’t be that difficult to find me again, right? Just ask a nearby God of Storm and Rain and they will point the way. See you ladies later!”

He tried to look cool while saying his farewells, once he turned around, Laria and I both looked at each other and confirmed. He is a pervert. He never once seemed to look us in the eyes. Regardless of his personality, he was still strong. We both were nowhere near his level.

Later back at base, I went into Vethre’s office. Unlike some of the Valkyrie’s cubicles, Vethre’s office was extremely clean. Julia for the first time realized how ironic a Goddess of Storms would be clutter free.

“Yes Madam?”

Vethre looked up from some files and gestured to the seat before her.

“Have a seat. That brat is definitely one to cause people to faint. He’s a monster!”

“But the indicators said he was human?”

“Uhh, sorry. He is unlike normal humans. There are certain people in this world that have garnered the attention of the Gods. Obviously the [Tyrant King] and the [Rock Man] are both definitive targets, but they also share similarities to the [Fire Goddess], Lance, and even the newbie working for Dauthodos, Death.”

“Death? What a presumptuous name.”

“Hoh? How strange. Is that also Lance's doing?”

“Nothing dangerous. What are the similarities between these people?”

“One of these days, you will need to learn how to look after yourself. After this, you tell me what he did.”

Vethre picked up the folder on her desk and straightened it up before handing it to me.

“All these characters had a special item. The [Tyrant] has a book on technological advances, the [Rock Man] has a suitcase of doctor’s tools, the [Fire Goddess] has a bag of never ending food, Lance has a strange musical item, and Death has a device that allows him to contact another world.”

“Whoa. Each of those items would cause a war.”

“Exactly. Their strength is not to be underestimated. These five also hold amazing powers not even heard of, along with having an energy not of this world.”

“Why are you telling me this?”

“We found another energy source. Actually, we found two. One is in the Jungle, one is in the Green Sea. This energy is all we have to go on to try and figure out where they are.”

“So you want me to and find one?”

“Yes. I want to send you to the Jungle. We are having trouble enough as it is, what with the [Tyrant] seeming to have fixed his curse. If another of those entities joins him, we will be even harder pressed to defeat him.”

“Yes Madam! I shall go immediately!”

“Now now, don’t forget you have to tell me somethings. And afterwards, we’ll see if we can reconnect you to the tracer system.”

“Okay. So first…”
