“On the 13th day of Chaunmer, year 1894 of the Regional Alliance, at approximately 0815 hours, Valkyrie Agent Adia Mesbirn, under the special authority of Gurze, investigated reports of multiple Mythic level beast sightings. She had searched the location in question for 6 hours, but only found evidence of combat, with no beast in sight. At around 1453 hours, Agent Adia confirmed that there were no Mythic level beast alive within the vicinity of the location in the rumor. Agent Adia returned to base at 1823 hours in the same day.”
Julia Estabell was looking over any strange reports. Vethre had given her leave for the day, but Julia was not one to slack off.
She would often double check, or even triple check findings and reports to try and find similarities or links.
“That sounds like another report I just saw…here it is.”
She pulled a file out of the cabinet. While she was flipping through the file, another person walked in.
It was another Valkyrie. One of Dauthodos’ subordinates, Laria Silverfin.
Agent Laria uses the souls of the dead to complete her objectives, so many of the other Valkyries tend to steer clear. It wasn’t just Laria, even her other two partners used the corpses and life force as weapons. They were given the name of Reapers since they preferred eliminating their targets with some added torture.
“Hello, Agent Julia. Hard at work again?”
“Yes. One, these tasks are not going to complete themselves, and two, I am free today.”
“Usually that means you are free to rest or relax. It eases the burden on the mind and body.”
“Yes, but the worry that someone will need my help makes me too anxious to rest.”
“Hmm, I wish I could agree, but our new recruit in our sector has been good marks all across the board No need to worry about him.”
“His existence is questionable. I do not trust that [Grim Reaper].”
“Neither do I. He doesn’t completely obey orders and does not tell the truth in his reports. But no one has found any evidence of him doing so.”
Julia put down the file in her hands into a crate she had set aside. She closed the cabinet drawer and picked up the crate. As she walked out of the Report Room, she continued,
“How do you know he did it if there was no evidence?”
“Because I saw him do it.”
“Then tell the people in charge. Everyone knows we cannot lie.”
“True, but for some reason, whenever I try, our leaders claim he can do so and that they trust him.”
“If the Gods are fine, then there must not be a problem.”
“Yes. You’re right. What seems to be the deal with these reports?”
As they both walked back into the work area, Julia placed the crate at her desk and replied,
“I have found reports detailing sightings of beasts at the Mythic level in the Great North. If these beasts are allowed to roam free, they will begin to tread into the Gods’ territories. But by the time an agent arrives on scene, the beasts are already gone.”
“Maybe they fought each other?”
“Maybe. I am going to nearby villages to see if anyone saw something.”
“Good luck, see you later, Agent Julia.”
“I will be back shortly, Agent Laria.”
Several hours later, Julia was soaring over the clouds.
“Hmm…Snyder Village seems to be in range of most of the reports and even sent one in. I shall start here.”
Flying down, Julia approached the small village.
In the village chief’s house at that same moment,
“What do you mean, another Mystic beast has appeared?!”
“We just had one 5 years ago!”
“Another one so soon?”
“We don’t have money to send a messenger, much less pay the request fee!”
“Everyone, calm down! Now Stefan, are you sure you saw a Mythic level monster?”
A little boy in ragged clothes and covered in mud was shaking as he was brought to the center of everyone’s attention.
“Uhh…Yes. It was surrounded by 3 Titans and was on even ground!”
“3 Titans?!”
“Not more monsters!”
“What’s going to happen to our village?!”
“Everyone SHUT THE”
At that moment, the door to the chief’s house slammed open, cutting him off before finishing his sentence.
“Chief! A Valkyrie is coming!”
“””””WHAT??!!”””””
Behind the young man walked in a beautiful [Human] like being. She had striking purple hair that matched her eyes, she was wearing a navy blue colored uniform with white pants. Her hair was put into a ponytail and her wings could be seen behind her.
They appeared to be made of metal, yet at the same time made of feathers. The glossy grey wing materials fluttered and swayed in the wind, making it hard to think that her wings were metal.
While most of the men were caught in a stupor, several of the men’s wives pinched them back to reality.
“Yeowch! What the hell was that for, woman?”
The chief’s wife just stared coldly back at him, unmoving.
“Ahem, sorry about that. What brings you here today, Madam Valkyrie?”
Of course she was not here for them. No one else knew about the beast but them. Even if the Valkyries were employed by the Gods, they weren’t omniscient. She must have come here for something else.
“I, Agent Julia Estabell, under the authority of Vethre, Goddess of Storm and Rain, have come to ask questions about the appearance of Mythic level beasts in the area.”
“What?! Uhh…umm…we actually had a sighting a few minutes ago! If Madam”
“Where.”
It wasn’t a question. It was a command. The chief looked back at Stefan and motioned for him to walk forward.
“This is the boy who saw the beast. He can take you there.”
“No need. Just point.”
The two walked outside, followed by everyone else. After pointing the way, Julia’s wings spread out and she flew at high speed toward the Mythic level beast.
Not even five minutes late, she arrived…to a corpse.
Rather, four corpses. 3 Titan level beasts and 1 Mythic level beast. All of the monsters were charred and smoking. In the center of the chaos stood a young boy approximately 12 or 13 years of age.

“What in the world…”
The boy standing before did not seem to notice her, as he was bobbing his head up and down with strange cords hanging from his ears.
‘If one of the Gods’ champions was doing this, why not report it? Is he supposed to be kept secret? A human being this tough at such an age will definitely be a hidden weapon. What did he do to get so strong?’
At that moment, her display was going crazy.
<@#βϖθµ>
“DAMN!”
Julia fell to ground and could not get back up.
“Oops, sorry about that. I felt something weird and probed it out. Are you okay?”
The boy had stood up after carving up the beasts and was now walking up to her. He wasn’t that old, but the look in his eyes showed more maturity than those 2 times his age.
A little perplexed at the situation…wait…perplexed? She doesn’t get perplexed. She doesn’t get confused or angry, sad or happy. What is going on? Julia started to feel a lot of strange emotions. She knew what they were, sure. She had a whole memory dedicated to emotions. It allowed her to understand the lesser races and their body languages.
In her head, she was experiencing confusion, rage, shock, but most of all, fear.
She had no way of knowing what this boy wanted.
“What’s wrong? Can you speak?”
The boy seemed to have a shocked expression as he began to walk towards Julia. She had unconsciously stepped back away from him, causing him to pause.
“Sorry, I really didn’t know that would happen. I sent a little Qi to test the waters, so to speak. I wanted to know what you’re made of. Literally, I guess. Hehe.”
Julia had to calm down for a while before she was ready to talk.
“What did you do to me?”
“I think I may have severed the God’s control over you.”
“How?! We Valkyries are supposed to die if that happens!”
“Yeah, normally. But due to your use of Lightning abilities, you are now in control of you.”
“What do you mean?”
“This may take a while.”
About an hour later, a young man and an extremely confused Valkyrie were sitting at a fire the boy set up.
The corpses were gone, the boy must have some sort of [Box] Skill or something he put them into.
He was cooking a simple roast, but with Julia’s massive data base on all kinds of information, she had never seen or heard about this type of culinary creation in front of her.
The boy used the roast as a sort of example on how electricity flowed through the body, sending signals from the brain.
“How come no one ever found this out? This information could help many people reconnect lost appendages or recall lost memories!”
“The reason no one knows is because you guys killed ‘em all. With that kind of power, one can even brainwash someone, bypass the limits of the body, and even use the power of Gods.”
“Oh. I guess that makes sense.”
“Yeah, your Gods get rid of anything that could destroy their high horse or comfy cushion. You haven’t realized?”
At this, Julia could not help but to shake her head in defeat. She realized that she might have killed people who would have saved millions of lives, besides just killing people who would have only killed hundreds.
Out of nowhere, a yell could be heard from above.
“Agent Julia Estabell! It is I, Agent Laria Silverfin, I have come to find your whereabouts!”
Her fierce outcry was immediately followed by a sort of broken whimpering.
“Oh no…Julia, what could have happened to you?”
Valkyries were not completely devoid of emotion. They feared their death just like any normal being. This fear was an instinct to survive, and led to different emotions as well.
Normally, Laria would never say such a thing. There was no need. She knew that if the connection broke, the Valkyrie was dead. Yet she felt a loss for some reason.
Even if Valkyries were all expressionless in their free time, they had their habits. Valkyries spent their time saving people and defeating bad guys. What were bad guys? People who did bad things.
Laria and her cohorts were considered ‘bad guys’ in the eyes of most civilians. This led to an unconscious separation from other Valkyries. One exception was Julia. She was too into her job, too busy to care about others.
It wasn’t like she kicked others away, she just did not find their presence necessary. Laria caught on and she would always approach Julia when she had a significant reason, like an order, the going ons of targets, and happenings within the precinct.
This led to Julia remembering her. Unbeknownst to her, Julia actually enjoyed these little ‘gossip talks’. Not only was it information and important data, she had gained social contact.
The two became friends without even realizing it.
At the time of the severing of Julia’s signal, Laria was the only one nearby and rushed off as soon as she could.
Now she was filled with terror at the thought of something being able to kill a Valkyrie and some of her unconscious exited her system. Even she was surprised at her own current state.
“Oh? Seems like a friend of yours is here. Shall we say hi?”
