Chapter 12 (OLD)

“So Vaeda, say hello to the newest addition to our party, I present to you; The Horde,” I said to him as I swept my arms around towards my fourteen loyal minions.

“Nice nice, wait what happened to the goon squad?”

“They’ve been retired, effective immediately. The Horde just sounds cooler, to be honest.”

“Well it is up to you, so what do you want to tackle first Greg?”

“I’m going to use Soul Bind and see what it does.”

So I walked out to the courtyard of the mansion surrounded by my undead and Vaeda on my shoulder. I activated Soul Bind.

Soul Chamber skill; Soul Bind activated.

Please select one sentient soul:

(Milo Dagobert)

I mentally selected Milo and then a golden orb of soul energy condensed above my left hand. It just floated there in my hand. I ordered one of my skeletons over to me, I instinctively pushed the orb into its chest cavity. The golden energy wrapped around all its bones giving them a soft glow. The only real change to the Skeletal Grunt I noticed was the eyes. It had the same darkness staring back at me that all my minions did but this one had a golden iris burning in the middle of the darkness. It then dropped to one knee and spoke.

“Master…” It spoke in Milo’s voice.

“Woah Milo is that you? You’re not going to attack us again, are you?” I asked him.

“No, before I was forced to fight you due to the orders the Lich who raised me had given me.”

“Okay, but are you truly on our side? Greg, I don’t know if we can trust him.” Vaeda chimed in.

“Of course I am. My Master not only freed me from a life of servitude to the Lich but now you have brought me back from the abyss. My soul is also bound to yours if you die I’m afraid I will die as well.” Milo explained.

“First off stop calling me master. It’s weird and vaguely kinky and I don’t like it.”

“Sorry, mas-err would my Lord suffice? I need to treat the one who saved me with respect.”

“Fine, but you said something about the abyss, what is it?”

“The abyss is where those of us who have been removed from the mana cycle go when they die. See when you die your body, skills, levels, and mana are all recycled by the system to continue fueling the system itself. Supposedly if you’ve lived a virtuous enough life your spirit passes on to the great beyond. But for those of us that are classified as monsters by the system, all that awaits us is the abyss where we wander for all eternity. You have pulled me out of that. Not only that but I am filled with a warmth I haven’t felt in forever. I know I am still an undead but I feel truly alive.”

“Vaeda is all that true?” I asked.

“Yes, unfortunately, it is. My world is also one that has been deemed lost by the system. It is overrun with monsters and now my entire species exists to become familiars of new worlds that are granted system access.” Vaeda replied somberly.

“What? Vaeda you never told me that. I had no idea man.”

“It’s fine, I don’t like to dwell on the past. But Greg you should be aware of what getting the system entails. If your world falls to the monsters the system will subjugate your race and world. Turning your world into a dungeon world, similar to what we’re in now. Or enslaving your race like it did mine.”

“Shit I guess the system isn’t as cool as I think. I refuse to give in. Wait, give me a second guys this blue box won't stop annoying me.”

Congratulations to Host for successfully binding sentient soul to object.

Soul has had all of its levels wiped and its skills are all gone as well.

The soul will now level up with you.

“Okay Milo it says here that you’re level one again is that true?”

“Yes my Lord, it seems that all of my skills are gone as well as my class.”

“We’ll have to level you up so you get your class Milo, I’m interested in what kind of classes will be available for you. The next thing we have to do is bring back big guy. And I have a better idea for his body then flesh and blood this time.”

I then activated Create Golem Core and once again I felt the mana leave me and create a small glass orb. I then placed the orb one the stone courtyard.

“RISE MY MINION”

The stone started being ripped off the ground and flowing into a ball as the golem core floated in the air and the stone formed around it creating the big guy’s body. I was so happy to see it had worked. I honestly don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it in the first place. A stone golem is significantly stronger than a flesh and blood one. It stood there in front of me as I introduced Milo to the big guy.

“Big guy meet Milo, Milo meet big guy.”

“Um is the golem sentient my Lord? I had no idea you were so powerful you could create sentient golems.” Milo remarked in awe.

“No, it’s not sentient, he just insists on referring to it as the big guy as if it can even think,” Vaeda said snarkily.

“Hey the big guy is the big guy, that’s all you need to know Milo. He’s our heavy hitter and tank for our party. So what do you bring to the party?”

“Well as you know from before I was the commander of most of the troops in the Lich’s army. Before that well I’ve always been a leader in combat. I have a good head for strategy and commanding units in combat.”

“Then I hereby name you my first general,” I said with a smile.

“My Lord, thank you so much for this opportunity I shall not let you down”.

“Vaeda is there any way I can even let Milo take control of The Horde?” I asked.

“I’m honestly not sure, try asking the system,” Vaeda said.

“System is there a way to let another one of my minions control my undead?”

Yes, due to the synchronicity of your two skills Control Undead and Soul Chamber, you may designate any being that is soul bound to you the ability to control as many of your undead as you wish. Control can be relinquished at your will.

Just designate which of your minions you’d like to give control to and then say which undead you’d like them to control.

Simple enough it seems. The added bonus of being able to relinquish his control should he not heed my orders is a perfect countermeasure.

“I give Milo Dagobert control over all that I have designated as The Horde. Vaeda you want control too?”

“Nah I’m good, never been much of a leader myself. I’m fine just being the wisecracking companion with a heart of gold” He said.

“Thank you for the ability, my Lord,” Milo said.

I began to take note of my stats as we head out to grind up Milo, and I noticed that the undead whose body Milo had taken over no longer counted towards my mana or control limit.

Name: Gregory Sol Age: 21 Sex: Male Race: Human Level: 31 Class: Necromancer Buffs: None Debuffs: None Health: 70/70 (-30) Mana: 85/480 (395 in use) Health Regen: 10 Health Per Hour Mana Regen: 30 Mana Per Hour Soul Energy 1400 SE STR 5 INT 96 WIS 30 PERC 6 VIT 14 (-6) END 10 AGI 5 DEX 5 WILL 62 CTRL 160 (130 in use)

“Alright let’s go guys” I shouted as we moved towards a new day of leveling.
