Chapter 3: Big Rabbit, Bad Rabbit

Chapter 3: Big Rabbit, Bad Rabbit

It was his first time seeing a level 5 rabbit, what was more surprising was its large size, which was four to five times bigger than a normal Savage Rabbit. Furthermore, the normal rabbits, despite having a horn, looked a bit cute, but this one, was creepy and monstrous.

The sudden appearance of the rabbit startled Leiu, but the experience of almost 50 battles against rabbits taught him some things; he might not have become a peerless fighter, but he developed more confidence and slightly grew accustomed to this quasi-real combat system.

Hastily, he backed away from the rabbit's leap then he charged at its left side while slashing his sword horizontally. His strike was accurate and fast, however, the outcome of the slash was not what he expected.

It was like hitting metal or hardwood, feeling an extreme and uncuttable toughness. Consequently, barely any blood came out and the health bar above the creature decreased by a very meager amount.

Still, Leiu didn't turn around and run. Just because a boss-like monster appeared, so what? If he were to run from a dangerous monster in the beginner area then what would he do when he faced the real bosses later on.

Leiu didn't stop after the first attack, instead, before the rabbit could leap or thrust its horn at him, he attacked with the bronze sword yet again, aiming for the eye. Since it was big and he was facing its side, he could not directly attack its weak point, which was the top head.

Again, the health bar decreased by another bit, but Leiu, who was planning to relentlessly swing the blade again, was forced to retreat as the rabbit finally counter-attacked. In a clumsy yet successful manner, he waved his blade at it while backing away.

Fortunately, the savage rabbits, including this big one, were not partiocularly mobile outside of their hostile leaps. Their only means of attack were the sharp horns that would generally be coupled with their jumps.

As it menacingly glared at Leiu, the rabbit screeched again and then performed a fast unidirectional leap, which Leiu avoided by rolling to the right. Thereafter, before it could recover, Leiu switched to the offensive and struck again.

With every hit, the enemy’s health would decrease by a little bit. Likewise, Leiu’s Stamina was also decreasing, meaning that, although this tactic was working, he wouldn’t be able to keep at it forever.

Eventually, after seven to eight minutes, the bloodied and lifeless body of the rabbit finally fell to the ground.

Level +2 : all stats +2

Sword Mastery[Basic Lv1=>2] Leveled up : When wielding a sword : You deal 5.5% more damage.

To level up two times in a row after killing it, it made all the effort definitely worth the time. Leiu only had 2 Stamina points left, his body fatigued and soaking in sweat.

The notification to get the loot popped up, he confirmed it and waited for the items to show.

Superior Rabbit fur obtained!

+1 Silver!

Basic Traveling Boots(Normal) : +1 agility | +1 dexterity

Steel Sword : +2 Strength

Leiu was happy to get new usable gear. Plus a silver, it was really not bad, he already got more than 100 coppers which can be traded with 1 silver, so, in total, his wealth was around 2 silver coins.

Without hesitation, he opened his inventory and equipped the boots which looked like normal leather traveling boots, as for the Steel Sword, it was longer than his the bronze Sword and in a much better condition. After equipping both items, he gleefully checked his Status Window, feeling a sense of satisfaction in seeing his Stats rise.

Level: 7 CLASS: None TITLE(S): NONE -- STATS -- STRENGTH : 18 HEALTH: 17 INTELLIGENCE: 16 MANA: 19 WISDOM: 13 STAMINA: 2/20 AGILITY: 16 -- DEXTERITY: 15 -- VITALITY: 15 --

Albeit not by a large amount, the fact that his stats continued to rise relieved him as it meant the previous hours spent hunting the rabbits weren’t for nothing.

This was only the beginning for him, he would fight endlessly until his dodging and attacking became as flawless as possible. That was what he strived for, to kill enemies easily and quickly.

...

Leiu sat there, deep in thought for 15 or so minutes, his stamina fully recovered by then, so he got up to search for bees. He was already Level 7, so perhaps dealing with them would be easier than he thought.

It didn't take him more than 5 minutes to spot a Bee: it was floating around, aimlessly roaming the forest. It had a fist-sized body and sharp needle on its lower body, and transparent wings which flapped very fast and yellow-ish body.

Once Leiu was close enough, it became hostile and flew toward him, pointing its needle at him. Unlike last time, he already predicted that it would attack and easily dodged it.

Seeing the incoming Bee, which flew toward him again, he dashed at it, and just when he was going to collide with its sharp needle, he ducked and stabbed with his Steel sword. It was a neat and precise thrust which was aimed at the wings.

Leiu didn't know the bee's weakness yet, so, logically,, if he got rid of its wings, then it would become powerless.

Those thoughts were confirmed when he saw one of the two transparent wings easily cut off by the Steel sword.

Losing its means of aerial movement, the poor Bee helplessly fell on the ground, moving its body and trying to attack with the needle even in that state, but it was futile.

Leiu grinned for a second before thrusting his sword into the Bee's head, instantly killing it and receiving Exp.

He soon looted the corpse, and messages popped up again.

You obtained Bee needle

You obtained +7 Coppers.

Leiu didn't pay much attention to the Bee needle as he didn't know its use, but it could likely be sold for some money, which was better than nothing. Furthermore, the Exp he got was not bad, although he was already Level 7, he got 4% when he killed it the Bee.

For someone so low-leveled, 4% with each kill was pitifully low, however, Leiu didn’t mind it that much. He was going to focus on killing Bees just like what he did with the rabbits. Rather than prioritising fast-levelling, he wanted to become completely dominant against Bees.

..

Dealing with Bees was surprisingly easier than with rabbits. Admittedly, they were faster, but when their wings are cut off, they lost all resistance and could be killed even by a child. Plus, from the 4 quests he had received, he already finished 3, the only one left was 'destroying the bee's home.

Level up! all stats +1

Sword Mastery [Basic Lv3=>4] Leveled up : When wielding a sword : deal 6.5% more damage

Leiu leaned on a tree as he looked at the popped messages: After two more hours, he managed to level up 2 more times and even increased his sword mastery yet again, which was a great thing.

Certainly, things were easier for players that formed parties, though the only downside was the shared experience. Then again, more players meant faster and more efficient levelling.

Leiu was almost Level 10, therefore, soon, he would get his first Class. A new class meant the acquisition of strong active and passive skills, which would facilitate his solo adventure.

However, before reaching Lv10, he decided to return to the village and complete the quests as he already found a nest of Bees and destroyed it.

Regrettably, Leiu didn't count on the quests’ rewards that much as he really didn't think that low-level quests would give that much, especially since he received them when he was Lv1.

‘512 coppers… it should be enough to buy decent equipment.’

Currently, he was wearing a beginner’s armor which had no stats whatsoever.

As he decided to return to the village, Leiu came to realize that he had absolutely no idea where he was. He had been engrossed in hunting Bees and didn’t pay much attention to his surroundings. What made things worse was that the environment of the forest looked pretty much the same.

Slightly annoyed, Leiu chose one direction and began walking. He had no prior navigation skills and the System, or the game, didn’t provide a ‘map’. The fastest alternative to return to the village would be dying, though that would reduce his stats and Level by 1.

As he continued absentmindedly walking, the atmosphere became noticeably gloomier. The shade from the sun seemed to be replaced by an eerie shadow, and the absence of any monsters made Leiu highly-alert. Not a minute passed before he spotted a new kind of monster, approximately fifty feet away: It was a ferocious-looking wolf.
