The Luck Wizard
4. First Mission

4. First Mission

Isol played with the new arm he got, it looked exactly like his old arm except for the countless tattoos on the arm. Those tattoos depicted countless wailing faces. He assumed it was because of the ghosts that surrounded the mummified arm.

"I profited from this opportunity, but it might not be the same next time. I have to be prepared for every situation."

"Not only that but I also need to watch out for Esbeth, if he or she knew I took this arm I won't be able to see the next sunrise."

As Isol pondered on what his next moves should be, knocking was heard on the door. This time it was from the golem that delivered all the daily necessities.

As he looked outside the window, the sun was glaring. Sun might not be the right term as there were multiple smaller stars surrounding one big one.

The reason for this is because of the higher tier wizards. Those who study and specialize in a certain region usually go to the best area to help with their study, and for those who study in heat, well what better place than the sun itself?

To make their stay even better they usually create their own miniature star to not only test their understanding of heat but it's also equivalent to setting a tent during camping. Temporary or permanent homes to make their stay comfortable.

Isol walked out of his room wearing a cloak that could hide his right arm, he didn't have any good explanation for why his arm was now tatted out and he didn't want people to see it.

He walked up the stairs for the second floor heading towards the public classes. As he walked through the corridors he heard noises made by children that sounded ethereal. He cautiously did a 360 of his surrounding and he didn't see anything unusual.

There were other apprentices walking around the corridor but they weren't making any noises. So the cause for this situation might be because of his arm. Suppose that the arm wasn't the only part? Doesn't that mean there are other limbs that he had not found yet?

Well it's not like he could get it now anyways unlike his room, the area he was in was quite frequented and doing anything here might raise suspicion. Temporarily ignoring the playful noises of the children he walked towards the class held by Professor Ruthsbane.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

Ruthsbane was a tier 2 wizard that specialized in monster summoning. He could summon small wyrms that would fight for him. The highest he has ever shown was a wyrm that had 2 claws and a pair of wings, none of the apprentices knew if he had a stronger monster but it's not like they could just ask him.

Ruthsbane was speaking as the apprentices listened to him.

"There are three ways you can get monsters to fight for you. One is to be contracted to a greater entity that would provide you the monsters but in exchange you have to work for that entity. This entity can be contacted through many ways but most usually contact it through rituals that can attract the entity."

When Ruthsbane talked about this method of contract he always talked with obvious disdain on his face, in his view being contracted to another entity may not suit his requirements.

"The other way is to naturally find the monsters yourself and beat them to submission. Most summoners have their own pocket dimension where they can store their beasts. They can open up this pocket dimension whenever they need to, so whenever you're in a fight with a summoner never trust the amount of monsters he shows."

As Isol took notes of the lecture he was wondering if he too could be a summoner not because he wanted to collect monsters to fight for him, but because he wanted to open his own pocket dimension. Though he quickly scrapped the idea because Ruthsbane had already crushed his dream on the first few lectures already when he said that pocket dimensions opened by summoners can only store their beasts.

"Alright class that's the lesson for today."

"Oh yeah, I need a few volunteers to help me in the Northern Region, there have been reports of a monster I want to capture. Who wants to help me?"

Isol naturally didn't want to volunteer for free, and if it was a monster that a tier 2 wizard took interest in then it was probably above his pay grade. It was not until Ruthsbane said that whoever volunteers he might take in as his student and that they wouldn't be fighting the monster that he reluctantly volunteered.

"Alright those who volunteered remember to meet outside the tower at 4 in the morning tomorrow, we need to prepare and pack up early."

With the last words from Ruthsbane being a reminder, Isol left the class and went towards his room. The glow of his luck dimmed again that means that Ruthsbane wanting volunteers may be a lucky encounter for him again because he promised that he might take in a student which was exactly what he wanted.

With his luck dimming Isol meditated upon his bed trying to attract the luck particles in the air, like a phone that was on a low battery he needed to recharge. There was no confirmation that nothing horrible wouldn't happen during the mission and he didn't want to meet any unfortunate accidents due to bad luck when he mitigated that. With the particles being attracted to his body, he prepared for the first mission that he was about to go on.
