10. Fuel for War

10. Fuel for War

On the western border that separated the two countries apart. Up in the sky, flying fortresses were stationed around the border, always at guard for invasions from the neighboring country. These two countries had been fighting for over a hundred years and their hatred for each other had not faded.

Wizards manned different stations on the mechanical fortresses, it was a very lax day like usual. There hadn't been any big movement from the people of the Blood Letting country for a while, and this false peace had eroded their sense of vigilance.

As the wizards leisurely checked the surroundings of the fortresses they hadn't realized the impending doom that they were about to face.

A bored wizard yawned as he casually used reconnaissance spells, he turned his head over to his friend and asked him. "When do you think they'll let us go back home?"

"I don't know, probably a few more years."

"Damn it, I'm tired of being stationed here, if only that damned bastard hadn't signed me up for this."

As the wizard grumbled, he noticed that the surroundings seemed to be getting enclosed by a blood red barrier. Noticing the oddness of the situation he tried to contact the fortress but his means of communication was cut off.

"There's no need to try, your path of escape has been cut off."

An mocking voice was heard, as a handsome man wearing a silver knight's armor walked to the group. His eyes shone with a red blood lust, seeing this wizard made the group feel weak. As if they were facing an unbeatable predator.

The man's hair was unkempt and wild as it traveled down to his shoulder. There was a sense of beauty to the wildness.

The group already knew who this man was. He was commander Malus, he had invaded the Sleeping Giants country multiple times, and had never been killed for his transactions. He was a tier 6 wizard that made countless dread.

As the group blasted Malus with all the offensive spells, Malus's body was heavily wrecked and disfigured by the spells, but the group didn't seem happy at all. They knew that Malus was a wizard who specialized in blood magic.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

So the damage they caused literally didn't mean anything as he simply just recovered his body as if nothing happened.

"All right play time is over.

No longer in the mood to play with them, Malus waved his hand and gigantic red leeches materialized around them. The leeches were bloated and made out of blood, as they tried to defend themselves. They were simply swallowed up by the leeches.

As Malus clenched his fist, the leeches exploded. The wizards inside the explosions were thoroughly dead.

Admiring the beauty of his explosions, a subordinate came up to him. He bowed to Malus and briefly described the situation of the fortresses.

"Commander Malus, the blood puppets that have infiltrated the sky fortresses succeeded their mission. The chaos that they caused allowed us to take control."

"Good, remember there will be no room for failure this time. Even I can't assure I'll survive if I don't successfully get the mission done this time."

"Yes commander."

With a final bow he soon left. Malus in deep thoughts, he hadn't been invading the Sleeping Giants country just for fun, he had a mission assigned to him by wizards of higher ranking. Which was to kidnap the son of the king and queen of the Royal Giants.

He had no idea what they were going to do with the kid but he doesn't ask questions, just simply doing what the higher ups have told him.

...

With a loud bang on the table, a man with a dark expression exploded as he read the report. His fests were clenched in anger and veins were appearing through his body, he just got a report about the invasion of the western borders.

"Those imbeciles stationed there, what the fuck were they doing?"

The one who made the report, lowered his head down, clearly not wanting to become a target of his rage.

As the man calmed himself down, his unkempt silver hair was slowly being combed by his fingers. As he pondered on the next move.

"Get me a meeting with the representatives from the 6 powers, we need to have a discussion about what we should do."

"Yes sir."

As the man with silver hair watched his subordinate leave, he sighed out of tiredness. Being in his position he had to keep track of the borders around the country, and it was quite a stressful job. Now it had become worse that the Blood Letting country invaded again.

"Damn it, what do those fools from that barbarous country want? Clearly its not just to kill for fun, there has to be a motive but I simply don't know what it is."

As he waited for the messenger to come back. He prepared for himself for the meeting, he was going to talk with the top powers of this country. Each of the powers had a tier 8 wizard behind them, the highest tier of wizard in this country.

Obviously the representatives weren't tier 8 wizards themselves but as representatives, their words had immense power. He was going to use this meeting to decide their next course of action.
