“Sir! Sir! Dark practitioner! There’s a dark practitioner!”
“What are you blabbering on about fool! How can there be a dark practitioner on this island? I cleaned this place years ago and this island is isolated from the rest of the world, how can there be a dark practitioner here!”
“No no no, Sir, i’m serious, i saw it with my own eyes, a headless corpse was walking around the overseer’s building.”
“Hmmp, you think of me as a fool? How can a zombie be here?”
“Sir! Sir! Please, i not lying to you, i really saw it! I have no reasons to lie to you!”
“Hmm, let me check it out, if i find out you are lying to me, i’ll crush you like a bug.”
Kendal gulped, hearing the words of his death. “I’m not lying sir, just go check, there really is a zombie here,” Kendal quickly replied.
Taking large strides, the Sir walked towards the building. He did not believed Kendal’s words and was just checking for formality. How could there be a dark practitioner on this island. That fool must have gone crazy.
After a few minutes of walking, the Sir arrived at the building to find that there was no life inside. Using mana to scan the surrounding, he found that all the overseers were dead. Half of them had their head decapitated while the other half had large holes on their throats as if a Spear stabbed through it. Finding out that all the overseers were dead, the Sir became confused. How did they die? How killed them? Is it really a dark practitioner on this island, just like that idiot said? But how could there be a dark practitioner on this island? How did he even get here?
The Sir could not find a suitable reason for their deaths. This mystery was too perplexing for him. No matter what he thought of, all his conclusions as to what had happened had major flaws in them. However, being unable to figure it out was not his fault. There was no way anyone could have came to the conclusion that the reason why all the overseers were dead was because a certain death lord that had once tried to rule to world had taken over the body of a girl and killed all the overseers. Even if someone told him what really happened, there was no way he would believe something so ridiculous. He would most likely kill that idiot who told him such a ridiculous lie.
“You, go find clues as to what had happened here, while i try to find the dark practitioner. Although i don't want to believe that a dark practitioner somehow got onto this island, i must admit that this is the most believable scenario.”
“Ah Sir, but what about the zombies?”
“You fool! The dark practitioner already left this place, there’s no way they are coming back to life. He must have noticed that we were coming and ran away. And even if they come back to life, just cut off their limbs, they won’t be able to harm you.”
“Ah… Yes sir…”Taking a deep breath, Kendal took out his sword and slowly entered the building. His arms and legs were trembling in fear of the zombies. This was the first time he saw an undead. He had heard many terrifying stories about them and how they had once almost ruled the world. Thus he was very scared.
However, although he didn’t want to enter the building full of corpses, he had no choice but to march in anyway. Behind him was a guaranteed death for disobeying the Sir’s orders while in front of him were corpses who may or may not come back to life. One was guaranteed death while the other had a slight chance of him living. Thus Kendal sucked it up and slowly combed through the building, searching for clues. He silently cursed the Sir for making him do this.
While Kendal was braving his fears and cursing him, the Sir began to search for the dark practitioner. Taking out paper cranes from his space ring, he activated it one by one. With mana entering the paper cranes, the wings started to slowly flap. Getting faster and faster, the wings flapped up and down until it started floating in the air. Soon, all 10 enchanted paper cranes hovered in the air like a humming bird.

“Search the forest from the skies and look for any human outside of this compound.”
With the command given, the 10 paper cranes flew into the skies and spread out, each going in different directions. Seeing the paper cranes fly into the air, the Sir felt a pain in his heart. The paper cranes were very expansive and he only had 20 of those. Each crane was magical artifact which was worth more than each overseer and having to spend 10 of them, just to find a single person made his heart ache a little bit.
However, he had a very good reason as to why he was willing to spend so much just to find the dark practitioner. The reason why it he was willing to spend so much was because if he managed to find and kill the dark practitioner, he could sell his head to the calamity church. When the hunt for necromancers had started many hundred years ago, the calamity church placed bounties for each dark practitioner’s head to ensure that the world ending calamity would never rise again. Necromancers and others who practiced the deathly arts were labeled as dark practitioner and were hunted down.
After a head of a necromancer was delivered to the church, the church would use mysterious ways to check it’s authenticity and if it was real, the hunter would acquire 2000 gold for the head. Thus, with such high bounties, numerous bounty hunter popped up and hunted down all necromancers.
Thus, to him, it was well worth it to spend 10 paper cranes to find the dark practitioner. The paper cranes had costed 10 gold each and if he managed to kill the necromancer, he would earn 1900 gold. With that much money, he could buy a small plot of land and become a minor noble, opening a path for him to rise to power.
…..
Meanwhile, in the grassy forest, west of the camp, a figure could be seen running around. Nora was running as fast as she could west in hopes of drawing the Sir there. It was there that she had the highest chance of beating him.
She knew that sooner or later the sir would find her. While she was running, she left a trail of mana for him to follow. She didn’t know if he would take the bait or not,but she had to try it. If she hid until he left, there was a chance that the boat would never return, thus trapping her on the island. She had no idea how the geography of the world had changed and she did not know where the island was. Thus, Nora had no choice but to try and fight.
While running, she spread out her mana to sense for any mana signatures. After a while, a paper crane entered her mana range. The paper crane had spotted her. Nora did not know what the paper crane was or what it did but she had a few guesses. The paper crane is most likely something that was invented after i died. If i were to guess, it’s most probably a surveillance type magic artifact.
“Found him!” The Sir cheered when the paper sent a signal notifying him that a human figure was spotted in the west side of the island. “I don’t know how you got into this island, but when i find you, i’m gonna be rich!”
The Sir immediately left the camp after yelling at Kendal to clean the camp up. After receiving the signal, he became ecstatic, as if he had already gotten the gold. He didn’t even bother thinking about whether he could kill the dark practitioner or not, he was confident that he could defeat him. If you were strong, you wouldn’t have ran away. You could have easily surrounded us from all sides with all those corpses. Since you didn’t, this means that you aren’t that strong.
The Sir ran as fast as he could and began casting 3 circle spells. A magic circle with 3 circles inside it formed below his feet, causing the earth below him to jaunt out and push him everytime he took a step. Rocks the size of his feat formed below him, pushing him forward with breakneck speed. Loud booms could be heard as he got closer and closer to Nora. He had already found a trail of mana the necromancer had left behind and was thus following him. In his greed, he forgot to question the fact that the park practitioner had left a trail for him to follow.
After sensing the paper crane in the air and hearing the “Boom” sounds get louder and louder, Nora couldn’t help but feel fearful. The Sir was catching up to her very quickly and sooner or later, he would find her.
Nora now knew that the Sir was chasing after her and her worries about him leaving the island vanished. Taking out souls from her soul storage, Nora consumed them and casted a spell of her own to increase her speed. She only had one spell that could increase her speed.
Casting a 5 circle spell, a glowing red magic circle formed around her hands and an explosion of fire was blasted forth from it. Using the force of the explosion, Nora was propelled forward like a rocket.
Although this method of increasing her speed was unconventional, it was the only spell she had that could increase her speed. Back when she used to be a death lord, there was never once a situation where she had to run for her life. Since she was powerful and had an army at her feet, she did not felt that there was a need to learn such cowardly spells. However, now that she needed spells that could increase her speed, Nora couldn’t help but curse at herself. Dammit
The tier 5 spell she casted was a spell called, blast burner. It was a fire element spell which blasted forth a explosion of fire from both of her hands. It was a spell she created just for fun back because she remembered something fun when she was a death lord. The spell had a recoil which would blast her backwards. Normally, the user would point at 2 different direction and fire an explosive beam of fire from each hand to use the two forces of recoil to cancel each other out. However, now that she pointed both backwards, the recoil blasted up and forward instead. Nora was using the principles of a rocket to push herself forward with frightening speed. However, due the large amount of mana needed to use it, Nora had to consume ½ of her total souls to use it once.
However, just one use of it was enough to send her flying towards the west jungle, widening the closing gap between them.
The Sir, hearing the large explosion, winched and covered his eyes to block the bright light. A large explosion of fire had just occurred just a few hundred meters away from him. After the light show ended, he could see a figure flying away from the explosion. A blurry figure was flying towards the west using the force of the explosion. Since it was a bit far away, he couldn’t see what the figure looked like. All he could make out was a flash of pink.
Continuing to follow the blurry figure, the Sir continued use the 3 circle spell to boost his speed. A ravenous look appeared on his face as he managed to place control all the paper cranes to follow the figure. The paper cranes only lasted for an hour, thus he wanted to make full use of all of them before they die out.
