Mecha Ambush (Chapter 37)

Mecha Ambush (Chapter 37)

"Wat we duwing near hooman town?" asked Yowi. The cat didn't understand why they stopped and hid in a bush near the path to a human town, but he was slightly worried that he would be captured again.

"We ish need Teliportatin Tokin to go Dwa-warfu town! Yowi ish control hooman to gib us tokin." whispered Yue.

Dwaven cities were often located in underground caves that stretched dozens of kilometres deep underground due to their need for metallic ores. Unfortunately, powerful rock monsters love to inhabit those caves. So the safest and easiest way to reach such towns were through Teleportation Tokens sold in human shops. Yue was counting on Yowi to use Temporary Control to force an unfortunate passerby to hand over a token.

"Ok! Yowi undestand." said Yowi.

Just then, a plump man whistling a merry tune walked past. Yowi and Yue used Scan on him at the same time.

Joe Barney

LVL: 20

Species: Human

Type: Balanced

Classes: Merchant / Iron Warrior

HP: 10,000

MP: 500

EXP upon kill: 20,000

Drops: ???

An optimal target! That was the conclusion both of them came to. The mecha leaped out of the bush with surprising agility and managed to clock poor Joe on the head. As he fell face-first onto the ground, Yue used the mecha to pummel him continuously before he could even get up. Poopy winced.

The target is unconcious. 6,740 / 10,000 HP

"Cuntrol hooman Yowi!" squeaked Yue excitedly.

"Kay!" said Yowi.

The man stood all of a sudden, his face vacant as a zombie's.

"Gib Teleportato Token!" meowed Yowi. But the man didn't do anything.

"Hooman is not have token." said the cat sadly.

So the merchant fell on his face once more.

"Wait, if you could control him, why did you beat him up like that?" the golem asked.

"Yowi spell ish cos less mana and las longer wen hooman faint!" explained Yowi.

"Oh." said the golem.

They had to wait a while more before someone else walked past. This time, it was a slender woman in robes who looked around 20.

Emerline Eastwood

LVL: 30

Species: Human

Type: Balanced

Classes: Mage / Ranger

HP: 5000

MP: 50,000

EXP upon kill: 100,000

Emerline had spotted the man covered in bruises from quite a distance. A man covered in bruises but not badly injured in any other way? Obviously, this wasn't the doing of wild beasts. It had to be bandits! She'd heard of this tactic before: the bandits would leave a injured man on a isolated path and wait. When a passerby tries to help, they would sneak attack the passerby and win easily.

She smirked. Such a tatic was not one she would fall for. She took out a health potion.

"Are you alright?" she said as she knelt down, removing the cork from the potion.

BANG!

The loud sound of metal smashing into a hard object sounded out. The mecha had hopped out of the bushes to punch the mage, only for a mana shield to block the attack.

"Foolish bandits! I saw through your tati-" she said as she turned her head to face the attacker. "Wait what?"

A bunny in a mecha was the bandit? Emerline didn't know what to think at the strange sight. Yue ignored her speech and continued to punch the mana shield.

"Your attacks are useless! Do you really think- AHHHH!" she began.

A turd fell out of her behind as she toppled to the ground. Sadly, mana shields did not protect against poop control. As she lost her focus, the mana shield faded for a second. Which was more than enough time for Yue to knock her out with a punch to the head.

Yowi once again used Temporary Control, making the woman stand up like a zombie. She promptly tripped over the plump man and got her robes coated in mud.

"Gib Teleportato Token!" said Yowi.

The fallen woman took out 10 Teleportation Tokens. If she was conscious, she would be seething with anger. In case of life threatening situations, she saved up lots of gold to buy these tokens just in case. To think that a ragtag team of tiny critters would defeat her who had faced mighty beasts strong enough to punch through steel!

"Yay!" cheered the bunny.

"Okie, we ish all go to Cavern's Gem with tokin!" said Yue happily.

Poopy picked up one of the tokens and held it.

Where would you like to teleport to?

'Cavern's Gem!'

The golem disappeared in a flash.

"Ah! Tat dumb Poopy!" cried Yue as she picked up the remaining tokens. If they had all grabbed on the mecha, they could have just used a single token! But what's done is done. The mecha grabbed onto the panicked looking beetle looking for its master as Yue used up one of the tokens as well. Another flash, and they reappeared underground before a portal. Buggy hopped out of the mecha's hand, relieved to see Poopy again.

Yue couldn't help but admire what she saw. The buildings were all made of metal instead of typical concrete. The ceiling of the caverns that hung mere metres away from the tops of the buildings was coated with a thick layer of glowing moss that gently illuminated the city. The light was pale and whitish, much like the light a full moon casts. Lampposts that glowed with a reddish hue dotted the streets as well, which Yue found strange. Wasn't the moss already a good source of light?

The newly arrived group got many strange stares from the dwarves. A cat, a rabbit, a scarab and a deformed creature pretending to be a cat was not something they saw often after all. Scratch that, it was a sight they had never seen before.
