‘What the hell is going on, This is not how it’s supposed to be, I even got a head start but what is this, he isn’t even taking this seriously’ Victor swam continuously using his fastest style the butterfly stroke but he struggled to catch up to a person who was just floating, floating, he was firkin floating that was when he heard the voice one more time:
“Hey is this really what the best has to offer”
Victor could be seen physically struggling to catch up as his ears caught the sounds of people cheering heavily, in normal situations he would relish the sound as to him the sounds of people chanting his name as he left his opponents behind with each stroke breaking existing records. Sounds of people cheering and chanting his name, girls whistling and cheering and rushing out to get autographed by him. He dreamed of even going onto the grand stage as he eclipsed and shattered records set by swimming greats such as the likes of Michael Phelps he had idolized him as his hero growing up watching him and put his heart into swimming as he aimed to beat what was already established but that was then and this is now. Right now, the once beautiful sounding voices of applause and cheers had turned into noise that ached him in his marrows as he watched the playboy in front of him grandly put his efforts to shame as he couldn’t even get close. He watched Maxwell reach the end of the pool with more than thirty meters in between them as he stepped out and was swamped by the crowd as they cheered for him. He slowly began to lose pace as he had lost all motivation. If he had lost by a tight margin at least then it would be understandable but he had lost so miserably that he had lost all motivation to continue. He slowed down as unconsciously he had stopped moving and began to sink as he started to struggle ‘Ah what the hell, am I drowning’ he said as he struggled in the water. Giving himself one last push upwards he flapped his hands with reckless abandon as the next set of words that left his mouth were something he never thought he would say in his life as he raised his head above the water level:
“HELP, SOMEONE HELP”
He shouted for help as he could feel his life flash before his eyes, his right leg stiffened as a cramp held it as he couldn’t move it anymore:
SPLASH
He heard the water splash dully as though something fell in but before he could think about what was happening, he saw someone reach him quickly placing his hands under him as they zoomed up to the surface quickly.
COUGH COUGH COUGH
Maxwell watched Victor cough up all the water that he had begun drinking, he had already noticed the struggling movements of Victor in the water but let it reach that point as he wanted to be the hero once again as he moved with faster speed to bring him up.
Coming out of the water, he slid his hair backward as he walked up to Victor who couldn’t look at him as he reached out his hand to bring him up from the floor. Victor looked up in shock as he saw this but then he smacked the hand away as he stood up cleaned his hair and turned around as he walked away “Even though you are terrible at your favorite sport you can at least take my hand” Maxwell taunted with a smirk as Victor paused and tightened his closed palms and continued walking as he stopped and looked at his goons who looked away as though they didn’t know him making him bite his lips as he continued walking. Maxwell watching this, watching a rival’s hope and aspirations get completely crushed felt so good as he smiled inwardly especially as he saw Victor turn to look at him when he got to the door with a pained expression, seeing Maxwell holding Tricia who was already close by her waist as he pulled her closer and smiled.
“Yo bro, when did you get that good” a voice spoke out from his side as he received a light bump to his shoulder as Mike held him by the shoulder;

“Uhm, let’s just say it was an epiphany,” Maxwell said with a slight shrug;
“What do you mean just an epiphany bro, that was next-level shit bro, you swam as though you're Michael Phelps reincarnated,” Mike said as he swung his hands around trying to increase the gravity of the situation.
“Well that would have been awesome and all but the last time I checked, Phelps isn’t dead yet” Maxwell replied as both boys laughed as they came out of the pool area as they headed towards the shower when Maxwell saw someone causing him to freeze in his tracks.
“Hey, what’s wrong…” Mike was about to ask when he turned to face the direction that his friend was looking in when he noticed a familiar figure also standing there in shock looking at him as she quickly recollected herself as she turned around and walked out of the area quickly stunning the boys.
“Did she just try to run away…” Mike was shocked as he was then interrupted by Maxwell;
“Calista wait up,” Maxwell said as he ran after her.
“God damn it, Max, even when she doesn’t want you around her you still remain stuck in some delusion, I thought that is what you ever wanted” Mike groaned as he face palmed himself shaking it in disappointment.
---
Maxwell easily caught up to her as he held her arm and turned her to face him “Why are you doing this” he asked as Calista shrugged her arm away from his grip “Maxwell leave me alone” she said as she avoided eye contact with him
“And if I should refuse?” he asked pulling closer to the lady,
“What is your problem Max, or can’t you see that I am busy, I have to hurry for the next class,” she said as she turned around again;
“There isn’t any class today again and you know that, at least we can talk,” Maxwell said as she turned around “There is nothing to talk about you freak, I don’t know what happened or how you did it but you are fine with not even the slightest of injuries and you expect me to be calm about it,” Calista said as she came closer and put a finger on his chest “what do you expect me to do with a dead man?” she asked as she struggled to hold eye contact but Maxwell just smiled and held her hand tightly “well I am very much alive…” he was still talking when he got interrupted by a loud explosion into the building.
BOOM
“What the hell is that” Calista said as she struggled to stand on her feet but was suddenly brought under Maxwell’s arms as he shielded her from a part of the ceiling hitting his back “Well now is not the time to wonder about that let’s move” Maxwell said as he pulled her along, he hit some parts that almost hit some students as the pieces fell. The explosion was so strong that some parts of the building had begun to collapse, injuring some students as they scampered away, his sensitive hearing caught unto a familiar voice not too far away groaning in pain as Maxwell dragged Callista along. She was surprised by his strength as his grip was so strong she couldn’t even put up a fight. Reaching the person, Maxwell quickly let go as he rushed to his side “Mike are you good”
“No genius, my ankle is stuck under this beam and I think I might have dislocated the ankle a bit, if you rush to call…” he was still talking when Maxwell suddenly went over to the beam and piece of ceiling and lifted it up ‘What the hell, that should be 500 pounds at least and he lifted it as though it was nothing Mike was in shock as he forgot to stand up looking with his mouth open until Maxwell had to shake him out of his daze;
“Are you just going to stare and look like a dumbass, or would you move it?” Maxwell asked causing Mike to stretch out his hand for aid as Maxwell helped him out wrapping one of his arms across his shoulders.
