“Was he always this good in water?” a male person in the crowd said as his voice carried traces of shock and surprise when he saw this.
“Well, why does that even matter, it’s Max, wooooo” a girl responded as she cheered on a student who was leisurely floating with his back as he casually outpaced the closest competitor by a good distance as the competitor struggled really hard to catch up to him as if you look closer you could see visible signs of frustrations and despair “Hey is this really what the best has to offer” Maxwell taunted as he continued to float stress-free on the water. It was as though he was one with the water as it carried him across the pool as with every stroke his competitor made to close the gap, it increased further by another meter or even more.
How did we reach this point one might ask, but to reach here we have to go back a few hours ago just not too long before the bell for a break would go signifying the end of the school day when Max bumped into a girl as with his newly enhanced feature coupled with his already great features previously, he had turned to a beast of a man, as the girl dropped her materials for the second time as Max bent to help her this time as he raised his head, looking her in the eyes he gave his killer smile as he winked “I am really sorry, I do that unconsciously” he said as he caused her to blush heavily as she pulled her hair to her ear as she looked away shyly “uhm, it’s nothing, I’m Tricia by the way” she said shyly
“Oh. nice to meet you Vivian” he said with a broad smile but noticed that her smile froze “What’s the matter?”
“My name is Tricia” she repeated as she looked disappointed.
“Oh, Tricia right, right,” he said as he beat his face as though he had forgotten something really important “But at least now I know what name our kids would call you,” he said with a wink making her face brighten up the more as she giggled loudly that was until someone walked into the hallway and began to cause commotion:
“Hey playboy, get your hands off my shit” a blonde-haired boy approached angrily with two others that one could only assume were his goons as he approached him the crowd gave space as some even brought out their phones getting ready to film the incoming violence.
“And who is the prehistoric lifeform approaching” Max whispered into Tricia’s ear as she facepalmed herself;
“Don’t mind him please, he is just my overprotective boy… uhm he is just a friend” She quickly corrected herself as Maxwell smiled as he caught this. It wasn’t the first time this had happened when talking to a girl and her boyfriend showed up out of the blue.
“Hey, I am talking to you,” the boy said in rage as he tried to grab the shoulders of Maxwell whose back was facing him in order to turn him around but before his hands could reach the shoulder Maxwell tilted just enough to make the hand miss him and then turned around to face him as he regained his balance.
“Yeah, you should know your place and listen to our boss” the goon to the right said.
“Yeah, what he said” the other goon concurred but Maxwell just used his index finger to clean his ear and blow out the dirty from his hand as he put on an unconcerned expression “Uhm sorry, could you repeat what you said, I didn’t get you properly”

“You prideful piece of shit,” the boy said in anger
“Victor relax, Nothing was going on between us, really nothing at all,” Tricia said as she stepped in between the both of them in order to prevent a possible fight from breaking out “You can’t solve everything with violen…” she was still trying to talk when Victor shut her up:
“Shut up Tricia, I can allow any other person but not this one,” he said as he stared daggers at the smiling Maxwell.
“Do you really have to allow your inferiority complex do you in so bad this much?” he said as he shook his head in pity pissing off Victor the more as he squeezed his hands even more
“I see you are much of a talker huh,” Victor said as he came closer increasing the tension “Why don’t we take this outside then,” he said as he touched his chest to push him back but it was as though he hit a wall as he had hit a wall, “well I very much think you’d lose that without a doubt,” he said with a smile as he took the hand off his chest “why don’t we make this fair, pick a sport you are really good at, then we can play fair huh, after all, I would not want to be shameless”.
Hearing this an idea popped up in Victor’s head as he smiled “Well, if fair is truly what you want, let’s go swimming”
GASPS
Gasps filled up the whole hallway as to why not, Victor was the number one in terms of swimming with several scholarships won due to his prowess in the sport and many awards to his name already. He was already on the Australian national team for the next Olympics, that was how good he was but Maxwell with his nonchalant attitude to male-related news didn’t know about this and he didn’t need to as a smile formed on his lips.
“Maxwell, you really don’t need to listen to this meat for brains and go through with the deal,” Tricia said as she squeezed his arm but seeing his unbound confidence she decided to remain quiet and observe, perhaps he had something up his sleeves.
“Are you that scared or stupid that you are smiling?” the goon on the right said as he laughed
“Don’t you know that the boss is the best there is when it comes to swimming in the whole wide world?” the goon on the left said but the one on the right quickly hit him on the head
“Shut up you dumbass, he can’t be the best in the whole world, he is the best in the whole universe,” the goon said making Maxwell chuckle
“Oh really, that makes it even more interesting,” Maxwell said as his smile increased
“And well you know we can’t do this without a significant bet to go with it you know,” Victor said but Maxwell nodded immediately as he stunned Victor who began wondering why he still wasn’t retreating or at least not that eager;
“So, what are you offering” Maxwell said as he stretched out his hand and placed them under his chin
“Well, when I win and when you lose, you are to keep away from Tricia and any other girl in the school again,” Victor said as he gave a knowing smile.
“Well, I guess it would go the other way if you should lose,” Maxwell said as he dropped down his hands and stretched it out for a gentleman handshake;
“Well, I see no foul play in that” Victor took the hand as he shook it quite violently as he tried to squeeze Maxwell’s hand but couldn’t as he winced in pain when Maxwell returned the favor refusing to show any weakness.
