Bright Lights

“Why mum, I am definitely stronger” a young Richard was seen sitting near his mother as he plucked some vegetable leaves who was cutting the vegetables that he was cutting “hahaha, without a doubt my boy, but you see, our strength is not for attacking people and hurting them but to protect, I am fragile with no ounce of strength as you are my arm” this statement made the boys cheek turn red as he smiled brightly

“But mum, your arm wants to throw those punches, it wants to hurt the bad guys” he said as he dropped the vegetables, he was plucking to mimic a boxer with a stern face making his mother laugh out loud “I know it does, and it is necessary it does that at times” she said as she picked up more vegetables from the bowl and began chopping them again.

“You know you are only to use that strength to protect the ones that are close to you, but never use them other than that, so unless it is for something, or should I say someone very dear to you never use it, rather rally people around you and make them your allies, I believe in you my boy you can do it” she said to which he nodded happily as he chuckled.

“So now, let’s talk about what happened in school today” her voice and demeanor suddenly changed as the atmosphere became tense and Richard began sweating.

“Why, why, why, have I not done enough” a boy laid on the floor in despair as he cried. His mouth painted white and other colors as he had been forced to swallow a concoction of drugs,

HONK HONK

A car saw him and just swerved out of the way not wanting to get involved in whatever happened “What should I do now, that damn Smith. When would I be rewarded or get a chance to deal with him with my hands” he cried as he picked himself from the floor in pains, an ankle had been dislocated as he had several bruises from head to toe along with the fractured arm.

All the pain hit him after they left as he knew if he remained there and continued to lose blood at that rate then he would become past tense in everyone’s statement he couldn’t give a care as if not for remembering a particular person and smile he would have resigned himself to his fate, but with his will power he picked himself up and began to drag himself to the nearest hospital with one statement on his mind:

‘She can’t see me like this, I can’t let her’

‘She can’t see me like this, I can’t let her’

‘She can’t see me like this, I can’t let her’

He continued to say this to himself as he knew his mother better than any other person, the worry alone would be enough to make her panic and send her blood pressure off the charts. He moved with only will power as her resembled a zombie moving.

People just walked past him as some even said a word of prayer, no one seemed to care as he moved not caring that he was in the middle of the road as well as the cars just left him. Concerned people would want to help but after knowing the people that did it could only look on in pity as they watched the boy struggle on the brink of life and death.

BOOOMMMM

Suddenly there was a loud explosion in the sky:

“JESUS CHRIST” people shouted left and right as they scurried away into their shops and homes and locked it when the ground began to shake violently as most unstable structures fell, the light poles broke as wires fell, it was chaos everywhere as lives were lost left right and center.

“Ah so this is it” Richard had long fallen from the tremor that passed as he looked up to the sky with tears having someone with a bright smile in his vision “I just wish I told her I love you too one more time and was there with here now” electric poles fell close to him as cars skipped him.

It was as though he was in the center of an invisible untouchable zone that no debris could enter. Lying on the ground and waiting for the time something heavy would end his pathetic life he saw a bright white light in the sky.

‘Ah that’s probably the bright light we all see when we die that the pastor always talked about, looks like I made it and get to go to heaven. Mum all your teachings have finally paid off’ he thought as he smiled when looking at the sky when it suddenly split into various colors and went off in different directions.

‘Huh, is it meant to do that’ he wondered as he saw the light split ‘I guess my last thoughts have overridden my chance to make heaven’ he thought with a bitter smile as he closed his eye again, but opening it he saw a red streak of light heading to him in a rapid manner.

‘Wait, I don’t think it’s supposed to do that’ he said as he tried to crawl away with his back to the ground from there to avoid the impact but that was to no avail as the ball his chest and enter his body as the force it used to enter his body made it to come up a bit;

THUD

He landed as he squeezed his face in pain, the pain was so high but it disappeared abruptly that it didn’t even seem real, leaving a very confused expression on the boy’s face ‘What the heck was that’ he thought as he tried to look at his chest, as from there he began to feel a very warm and comfortable energy wash over his body.

“Hey, over here, a survivor” a medic had come around and saw the boy who was just lying down in pain. Due to the state of the economy, the light tremor that would usually do little to no damage had totally damaged the community. This made medical and health services quickly rush to the aid of the community to rescue the victims of the tremor.

“Hey look at his can we even call him a survivor at this point” a medic said as they lifted the boy and put him on a stretcher, “Shush, you can’t say that in the presence of the patient, John, you talk too much” the female nurse scolded the man.

“Hey look at this, his pulse is surprising calm for a patient in this kind of condition” John said as he looked at the reading.

“Wait that’s true, look at his skin, it is visibly recovering” the lady said

“True, it’s as though he is regenerating” John said with a stupefied look.
