Chapter 4

I contemplated for a moment on what to say, “I don't know, I was walking amongst the trees in my village and the next thing I blacked out and then I woke up here I don't know where I am or how I got here.” I spoke quickly and panicked, not pausing to take a breath. I hoped they’d buy it.

The man nodded in understanding and went to the man who was a few footsteps behind him and whispered something which I couldn't make out, he walked back to me and introduced himself as Arson and that the man behind him was Rowan. He told me that they were knights and servants for the royal guard that patrolled these lands. Arson helped me up, my legs started to shake from the pain but it soon faded. He helped me up onto his horse and told me to cover up the best I could, telling me he was going to take me to the castle as I couldn't stay there as it would be dangerous for me. I was confused by this statement and he more than likely could tell as he started to tell me about the land and how it was run by mythical creatures like angels and demons, goblins and orcs and even in some places vampires. He told me about the king and the prince that run this country, he told me about the prince in more detail and that his name was Christopher but that the guards could call him Chris. He told me that the prince was kind and understanding and that they may be able to help me as I had nothing and nowhere to go.

We soon reached the castle and the other guards in the surrounding area announced that Arson and Rowan were back but that they weren't alone. Word spread fast and when we reached the gates a young man in ripped jeans and a v-neck vest was waiting for us. Rowan helped me down off of Arson’s horse and he walked over to the young man to explain the situation, the young man looked at me and smiled, this made me blush a little bit as he was incredibly handsome. He had black hair and red eyes; I could also tell by his

complexion that he wasn't human. He was deathly pale. He slowly walked over to me and offered me his hand to shake it which I did, he introduced himself in a simple and calm manner.

“Hello my name is Christopher Sunders and I am the prince of this kingdom. It's a pleasure to meet you, I don't believe my guards got your name. May I ask what it is?”

I nodded and cleared my throat a little bit as I had a small bubble at the back of my throat. “Hello your highness, my name is Rosalee Andrews” I did a small curtsy but had to try and not drop the cloth that was covering me.

He placed his hand on my lower back and escorted me inside the castle. I gave a small wave towards Arson and Rowan in thanks as the castle doors closed behind me.

As me and the prince walked through the castle doors, we were greeted with a large hallway, there were stairs perfectly centered in the middle of the room that led up to the second and probably third floors, and a dark maroon-coloured carpet resided on top of it that extended throughout the hallways on both the left and right of us.

I gasped in complete amazement. The entryway was absolutely stunning it, was like something out of a fairy tale. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I noticed that the prince was looking at me he seemed to be scanning my face and body as if to see how I would react to the sight before me. I was snapped out of my trance by a loud cough that seemed to come from the man standing on top of the stairs. He had a crown atop his head and clothes that were definitely made for royalty, he looked nothing like how the prince was dressed. The man who I presumed was the king stood proud and elegant as his long red robe flowed in the slight breeze that brushed through the castle, the breeze made me shiver slightly and the prince seemed to notice as he pulled me a little closer to him, and even though our bodies weren't touching, I could still feel the heat radiating off of him. As I looked at the prince he gave a slight bow and spoke in a soft and gentle voice.

“Greetings father, it's a fine morning isn't it?” he asked.

The man looked back at him and smiled.

“Why yes, Christopher it is a very fine morning indeed. May I ask who this beautiful young lady is and what she is doing standing in our entryway unclothed.”

The prince looked at his father and then back at me, he looked to the right of him and whistled a maid over.
