Hi, my name’s Rosalee Andrews and this is the story of how my life changed from a mundane one to one of excitement, laughter, and love. All because of one fatal accident.
It all started on the first Monday of my new year at college. I was in my second year studying English Literature, and we just returned from summer break. I met my best friend Terrence at the front gates of the college. He was just getting off the bus, I was one of the lucky ones. I only lived 5 minutes from the college so I was able to walk. I didn't have to deal with the backseat drama that you get on school buses. For some reason, people always believe that if you're one of the eldest or in a higher year you get priority at the back of the bus, I never understood it myself, there's nothing special about sitting at the back. You just make yourself look like an arse.
After me and Terrance met at the front gates, we made our way to our tutor room. We sat down in our seats and waited for the teacher to come in and take attendance. The first lesson of the day was maths, The lesson lasted about an hour and then we got to have a short break before moving on to our second lesson where we retook attendance and started. The second lesson was always English Literature, those who didn't choose it as a course got to leave after an hour but for those who chose to study it, it was a two-hour lesson. Terrance got to leave after an hour as he chose to study Geography as his main subject.
Terrance left and made his way to Food Tech and I stayed put. I hated the fact that in the last hour of the lesson, I didn't have Terrance as I shared the class with the main bully of the college; Cameron Batts. As I was writing down some notes from the teacher's PowerPoint, I felt a rolled-up piece of paper hit the back of my head, I knew this was Cameron trying to get my attention so I shrugged it off and carried on writing. After five minutes I felt another piece of paper hit my head, so I turned around and looked at him. He gave me a smirk and nodded to the pieces of paper that lay crumpled on the floor. I picked them both up and unfolded them, The first one had some writing on it, I struggled to read what it said as honestly, his handwriting was God awful but I could make it out “Look the loners all by herself, let's not go crying to daddy about it, oh wait you can't he’s dead sorry.'' This brought a tear to my eye as honestly, I missed my dad, he’s been dead for two years now, it was a serious accident at work that took him from me and my mum. After reading his stupid remark, I stood up, walked over to the bin, and put both of the pieces in the bin, I didn't care about reading the second piece of paper as quite honestly I didn't care either. Before I walked back to my seat, I tossed Cameron a smile and looked at him

I said “Don't worry Cameron, I don't mind putting your junk in the bin. However, I would focus more on studying and fixing your handwriting as it's as bad as a four-year-old than trying to belittle me in the middle of class.”
I sat back down and turned to the front. I heard him whisper to his friend, “Stupid bitch.” I sat smiling to myself as I knew I had humiliated him in front of his friends, but at the same time, I knew that there would be consequences for that. I started texting Terrence about what had just happened. Luckily, the teachers didn't mind us going on our phones so I knew I would be fine.
Not long after the lesson came to an end and I had a free period before lunch, I made my way to the library to read.
After my free period, it was lunchtime, I met up with Terrence outside of the canteen and we went to grab our food. I wasn't that hungry so I just grabbed a ham and cheese sandwich and a packet of crisps, Terrance went full out he had chips, beans, and cheese, and a sausage and bacon wrap. We took our food and sat down at our usual table. It was a small circle that resided in the back of the canteen away from everyone. We sat talking about one of our favourite animes and character development throughout the season, we loved to analyze how characters change and what events made that happen. We talked and ate our food for the remainder of lunch. Terrance and I don’t have many friends so we took comfort in each other's company.
