Selenia rode her horse around the wall briefly before departing on the road with one last glance into the forest the wolf escaped into, all the pain she had been suppressing came crashing down and tears began to fall endlessly regardless of what she did to try and stop it, she could feel the pull of her homeland just a few miles away, but she could not go back.
Meanwhile, Lucifer's consciousness floated over a shy fox girl as she tried to explain what took her so long to arrive after he called and unsuccessfully trying to hide a small mountain of luggage behind her with her tails, Lucifer asked "I asked you to come here as the ambassador for your people, why have you brought so much luggage".
She continued to stutter out an apology, however, Lucifer interrupted her "then write it down if your tongue does not work silly girl" with a little more force than he intended, then a pen and paper fluttered down above her and landed on the ground in front of her feet.
She gingerly picked up the pen and paper then began to write, after she finished Lucifer almost laughed out loud.
Apparently, Merlin had sent her here to live and she was told to ask Lucifer if he would offer her a room in the dungeon, Lucifer was baffled at why Merlin would send this little sheep into the wolfs den, after thinking it over for several minutes and enjoying the fidgeting of the fox girl as she waited for his response he decided he did not care why she was here and just sent her to a room he just created next to the secret entrance of the University's farm area, which she was immensely relieved that she was not going to be kicked out.
The room was just a smaller copy of Selenia's with fewer carvings lying about, Lucifer considered just having her live in Selenia's room, but her room was quite close to the core room and Lucifer did not quite trust this person yet, something just felt fishy about her suddenly showing up to live her after what happened during the negotiations.
Lucifer initially intended to discuss things about his new enemy, but the idea of having to communicate with the mute again gave him a headache, instead, he looked around the dungeon and watched some adventurers pass through.
At first, they seemed competent as they managed to slay to Panthers that ambushed them at the same time, the warrior managed to catch a slight case of dying, however, the group's healer managed to patch him up enough so they could start to move towards the exit with their new loot.
They passed back through the third floor easily enough then continued towards the exit, one of the members spotted a red glow shining under a fallen tree, the mage which appeared to be acting as the group leader decided to ignore it and pass through because he had heard from several adventurers in the tavern tell stories of such a glow, some of these stories ended with a group of adventurers obtaining something valuable, one such group earned enough to live lavishly for several years or could bump up their retirement by a dozen years, however, just as many stories there were of people making a fortune, there were stories that ended tragically, most of the time by terrible luck, someone digs a hole and falls into a trap of burning insects, another climbs a tree only to find that it had several spiders hiding in ambush waiting for something to climb up into their trap, this persons team members could do nothing as he was spun into a cacoon and injected with poison, another person found a rare plant and managed to be gored by a boar and these are only the stories that the mage has heard.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
The others argued with the mage for several minutes and the wounded warrior suggested that they go for it and that he could still run with a broken arm, the mage finally relented and sent the rogue to check for anything dangerous.
After scouting around the area he found nothing and reported back, once the group received the all clear they started to cautiously move towards the glow with weapons raised and prepared to face anything the dungeon would throw at them.
Once they were close enough to see a small rainbow flower with nothing around they gave themselves a silent cheer with a slight wave of their weapons, the rogue gently grabbed the base of the plant and started to dig out the roots, but the roots went down further than a foot and the rogue did not have the tools to dig further, he started to pull on the roots to free the plant in hopes of gaining as much of the plant as possible, however, he was not strong enough and the plant remained rooted in the ground.
The warrior grew frustrated at watching the weak rogue try to pull out the plant so he grabbed the plant and pulled, several small snaps were heard as the roots broke and freed the plant suddenly causing the warrior to stumble and fall onto his ass, the group laughed at him before they realised that the hole they had dug was moving, millions of small ants rushed out of the hole the plant made.
The warrior cursed as he was bitten and the group scrambled away from the area, they made it about 100 meters and estimated that it was far enough then stopped, the rogue lifted up the plant and gave a cheer along with his party members, someone asked where the warrior was and everyone looked around and found he was missing.
They ran back the way they came and could not find any traces of him, they gave a sigh after searching the area once again and left, they knew that sometimes people just went missing in dungeons for no reason and nobody could understand why.
The warrior laid up in a tree inside a cocoon of webs, he tried to scream out to his companions to help but he was paralyzed and couldn't move, once they left 8 monstrous hairy legs came into view before his insides were sucked out of him while he still called for help in his mind.
