Progress abound. 23

Wolfram Wehinger was the commander of Baron Gunther, he stood 6 foot 4 with broad shoulders and a solid build, Scars riddled his body and face from his adventuring days and his attitude mirrored his life, cold and harsh.

He stood in the commander's tent while giving orders to subordinates before they rushed off to complete the tasks he set out for them. The camp was now complete with stables and the only thing they needed was more wood. After taking over the dungeons defense he was plagued by material shortages because of the former mercenaries spite, they burned all the buildings they built and the fire spread to the only small forest on top of the mountain.

Wolfram clenched his fist in irritation, he needed more wood to make temporary fortifications until the stonemasons arrive. After thinking it over he called for his second in command, then ordered a small elite force be made to clear out a section of the forest below the mountain for the lumberers.

Just as he finished giving orders to solve the wood shortage a strange man walked into the tent. he was 40 to 50 years old and wore black mage robes, immediately causing Wolfram's guard to come up, not only did this man have access to his tent unannounced, but he was a dark mage if his clothes were anything to go by.

The man walked up to Wolfram's desk and made shallow bow before introducing himself "I am Thorbald Thune, instructor of the mages guild and former leader of the Kavatch adventure guild in the grand Dutchy to the south", he spoke as that was supposed to mean something to Wolfram but, instead he just came off as a self-important ass, which is common of mages and nobility.

Since the man did not seem to be in a hurry to explain his presence, Wolfram stood up and walked right in front of him the shook his hand roughly, while grabbing his arm with the other hand and making sure to shake the man a little... Wolfram stood there, unsmiling, staring into the man's eyes. Finally, when Thorbald was about to speak to break the silence Wolfram spoke "Welcome to MY Lord Baron Gunther's territory of the Kingdom of Swadia, my men will be sure to take care of the safety of this esteemed guest to our great country, a dark mage can't be too careful with the poor perception of your kind enjoys."

Thorbald narrowed his eyes when he noticed the threat within Wolfram's words, so he opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted before he could by Wolfram speaking "why are you here, and speak fast because entering an officers tent is a capital offense unless invited, and I don't remember inviting you."

Thorbald was enraged at the rudeness of the man in front of him, with a spell on his lips he decided against it when he heard armed men moving outside the tent. A mage is far more suited to attacks from afar, attacking now would only lead to his death, instead he vowed to make a fool of this man and put on a smile and amicably said "I'm here to be the branch leader of this dungeons adventuring guild, I'm just here to meet the new town captain of the guard", While not forgetting to mention Wolfram's new post from a commander of an army to a town guard.

Wolfram smiled and took a step forward so they were nose to nose and said: "I don't know whose boots you licked to be assigned this post when someone from this kingdom should have been posted here instead". Thorbald visibly shook briefly after this statement, he could understand the underlying meaning behind that statement.

After exchanging some meaningless words Thorbald left the tent, then proceeded to take over a small area near the dungeon entrance for the future adventurer guild. While Wolfram sent messengers back to both the king and the baron.

Meanwhile, Lucifer was using the time that no one was in the dungeon to make a few adjustments to the ecosystems in his dungeon. after messing around and tweaking some things he decided to create a proper entrance to the dungeon, he began by adding a ramp straight down into the first floor for easier access for the miners, finally he added cheap glowing mana stones as lighting, lastly, he added thick iron gates that would only allow 2 people through at a time near the entrance.

With the new entrance complete he went over to Selenia's room, Lucifer found her carving some sort of bear, She noticed his presence and looked up "do you need something Lucifer, perhaps my hair next time"

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

After seeing the pouting Selenia his mood improved a little and he asked "Are you still not over that, anyway I came to give you your reward, so what do you want"

Selenia thought for a minute and said "I've got everything I need to live so perhaps new armor or clothes"

Lucifer replied "ok I will make you new armor but, with my current methods the best I can make is lightly enchanted mithril armor, as for the clothes I can think of a few things"

She looked at him strangely and said "I know you will make good armor your a dungeon, I'm more worried about the clothes you will make"

Lucifer laughed told her not to worry, then after straitening out the details about the armor she wanted, Lucifer went to his lab to create the items. First, he started with the clothing, as a dungeon his ability to recall memories was far greater than when he first lived, so creating decent clothing that suited her figure was not an issue, he even went so far as to make different styles from other cultures around the world and went a bit overboard.

After he finished the clothing he started on the clothing he started crafting the armor, something that is a lot easier when you don't have to forge metal, instead Lucifer just had to imagine the material he wanted and the shape it was in, then pour large amounts of mana in and the item came into existence.

The resulting armor was mostly plate armor with sections of mithril chain mail on the joints to give freedom of movement, There was no helmet to the armor instead, a hood made of woven strands of mithril took its place, a benefit of being a dungeon is he can manipulate materials in near impossible ways such as this. Normally only the grand mages of the famous guilds can make metal fabrics, but they only keep a portion of the materials initial strength.

Now with the base complete, Lucifer tried his hand at enchanting, he practiced the enchantments of the things he took from intruders but, he had not tried something so complex as enchanting an entire set of armor yet.

He started with the boots, Lucifer embedded several small gems into them and started writing runes into magic, then he bound the finished runes to the gear, initially, the materials offered resistance making the runes unstable, but Lucifers control of mana was better than any human, so he easily restabilised the enchantment.

After finishing the first enchantment he continued adding more enchantments until the material started to show signs of instability, Lucifer was able to put several small enchantments on most of the gear and a few larger ones on the other pieces, because of his skill and Mithril conducts mana very well, which is why it is so valuable to mages and warriors alike.

The boots had a sound muffling effect so Selenia would be as silent as a rogue in the night, the only other enchantment he could fit onto the boots was a grip enhancement, which would allow her to put more mana into her legs to go faster without slipping or using an ability to compensate.

The Greaves had strength and speed enhancements while the gloves had grip and dexterity to allow her to jump higher run and move around the forests faster and more easily.

Lucifer only added one defensive enchantment onto her chest-piece, it allowed her to pour mana into the armor and create a barrier with her ridiculous mana reserve. Lastly, a hood was used instead of a helmet because a full plate helmet would limit her acute elven senses, Lucifer spent the most time on this piece of armor.

After some trial and error he managed to finish the hood, the enchantments on the hood were his own creations, so it took some time to figure out how to stabilize them, when it was complete it had 3 enchantments, first it allowed the user to see in the normally invisible spectrum of light, giving the user thermal vision. Lucifer spent a long period of time developing a method to counter illusions or invisibility magics after the failed panther attack earlier and this magic was the result, the second enchantment allows the user to see mana, Lucifer watched the few mages that have entered his dungeon and found it rather strange that the animals don't react until a spell is almost in their face, he didn't realise that normally you can't see mana, you can only feel it, so being able to see it should give Selenia an advantage against mages. Lastly, the third enchantment was a detect life spell which causes all living things to give off a purple glow that you can see even through walls, which will help in ambushing people in the dungeon.

After completing the set of armor it looked like a beautiful white set of plate armor, the hood gave it a mysterious air and after all the enchantments the surface of the armor had ancient runes all over it, making it look even more valuable. Lucifer looked at the complete set and thought that it was a little too visible for ambushes, so he added a spider silk dark green cape that blends into the environment that can cover the whole armor if needed.

Lucifer looked at the completed set with satisfaction and realized he had spent several days working on it, He went over to Selena's room to find her asleep, she was murmuring about her master or something Lucifer didn't quite catch so he left the room and would give it to her tomorrow.
